When I returned home from my meeting with the Blue Fox, Marissa was waiting with good news.
"We've just had a customer contact us and set up an appointment," she beamed, taking my purse and coat from me. "She sounded desperate so I got her on the schedule for tomorrow."
"That is good news," I agreed. "After all, I could use something to take my mind off all this ridiculousness with Count Graye."
"And I could use another bonus," Marissa added. "By the way, I heard a thud up in the parlor, so I assume the Marquess has dropped in for a visit."
"Through the window as usual," I groaned. "Maybe I should ignore him and head straight to bed. Ah, but I do have something I want to ask him."
While Marissa headed to the kitchen for tea and snacks, I walked up the stairs to the parlor. Sure enough, my lackey was sprawled out on one of the sofas.
"Good Evening, My Lady," he smiled when he saw me. "You look exhausted. Shall I run you a bath?"
