Chapter 8: The Royals' Shadow and a New Threat
The victory over the Ogron was exhilarating, but it also had consequences. The sheer display of power had attracted unwanted attention. Adam knew it was only a matter of time before the Royal Families, the true power players in the Wesen world, would take notice. The Ogron case was big enough to get on their radar, and the swift, decisive way they were handled was a huge red flag.
"Alright, here we go. The Royals. I knew this was coming. They don't like it when a Grimm gets too powerful, especially one they don't know about. They're going to send a scout, a 'Hundjäger,' a Royal Enforcer. These guys are no joke. They're trained killers. I need to be ready. I need to stay one step ahead. Secrecy is our greatest weapon right now. We can't let them know what we are, not yet."
A few days later, Adam noticed it. A subtle shift in the shadows. A man in a dark suit, sitting in a car across the street from his coffee shop, watching him. Adam's new, magically enhanced senses were tingling. He knew who this was. This wasn't a Wesen out for coffee or a normal civilian. This was a threat. A very real, very dangerous threat.
He called Nick and Monroe, his voice low and serious. "We've got company. A Hundjäger. A Royal Enforcer. He's been watching me. We need to handle this. Quietly."
The team met in the basement of the spice shop, a place they now used as their own personal Batcave. They had to act quickly and decisively. A public fight with a Hundjäger would expose them all.
"So, what's the plan, Adam?" Nick asked, his hand on his gun. He was getting more and more comfortable with the idea of a proactive approach, but he was still a cop at heart.
"The plan is to corner him," Adam said, a cold, ruthless look in his eyes. "We need to get him alone, away from people. We can't let him get a message back to the Royals. I have a little something from my inventory that will help." Adam reached into his inventory and pulled out a small, intricate carving of a lion. He held it in his hand for a moment before the scent of fear and anger wafted through the room. "The Aura of a lion. A small, but effective artifact. It will draw him to me. He'll want to take me down. I'll lead him into the trap, and you two will be the trap."
The plan worked flawlessly. Adam, with the lion artifact on his person, went for a late-night walk in a deserted park. The Hundjäger, unable to resist the primal urge to hunt, followed him. The Hundjäger woged, a hulking, dog-like monster with razor-sharp claws and teeth. He lunged at Adam, his face contorted in a mix of fury and greed.
But Adam was ready. He dodged the Hundjäger's attack with a newfound grace, his mind a whirlwind of tactical maneuvers. The Hundjäger was a trained killer, but Adam was an anomaly. A Grimm with the knowledge of a fan and the power of a demigod.
Nick and Monroe, hiding in the shadows, sprang into action. Nick, with his new cunning, was able to find a way to disarm the Hundjäger, while Monroe, with his new strength, was able to land a powerful blow that knocked the Hundjäger off his feet. The fight was quick, brutal, and decisive.
Adam stood over the defeated Hundjäger, a grim expression on his face. The Hundjäger was a powerful Wesen, but he was no match for a team of enhanced Grimms and a Blutbad. Adam once again performed his ritual, taking a small blood sample.
[System] Wesen Defeated. Initiating Blood Extraction Protocol. Wesen Type: Hundjäger (Royal Enforcer). Extracting... Alchemical Vial Created: Hundjäger Potion.[System] The Hundjäger Potion grants a significant boost to combat prowess and a minor resistance to intimidation.
Adam looked at the vial, a flicker of something in his eyes. This was no longer just about potions and power. This was about survival. The Royals were a very real threat, and he had just sent them a message: Portland was no longer their playground. He looked at Nick and Monroe, a deep sense of camaraderie and shared purpose flowing between them. "We're in this now. For real. And we're going to win."
