Chapter 7: The Ogre's Game and a Test of Power
The next few days were a blur of training, planning, and a deep, unnerving sense of anticipation. Adam had spent his time teaching Nick and Monroe how to control their new powers, pushing them to their limits. Nick was a natural, his Grimm bloodline amplifying the cunning of the Fuchsbau Potion. He was now able to deduce things faster, think on his feet, and was becoming a truly formidable detective. Monroe, on the other hand, was struggling to control his immense new strength. A simple handshake with Nick was a near bone-breaking affair. Adam's dry wit was in full force during these training sessions.
"Monroe, you're a Blutbad, not a cave troll. Try to be a little more… gentle. Think of it like this: your hand is a cuckoo clock, and you're just gently pushing the little bird out, not throwing it across the room," Adam had said, earning a pained grimace from Monroe.
The new calm was shattered by a new case. A series of gruesome murders, all of them of local police officers. The victims were beaten to death, their bodies contorted in a way that was almost inhuman. This was it. The "Game Ogre" case. The Ogron. Adam knew exactly who was responsible and why.
"Okay, Ogron. Big, mean, and a real pain in the neck. This is our first real test as a team. We have our new powers, our new resolve, and a very large, very angry Wesen on our hands. Nick has his cunning, Monroe has his strength. I have my foresight and… well, me. This is where we show the world what a proactive Grimm team can really do."
Adam, Nick, and Monroe were at the crime scene, a secluded alleyway behind a police station. Hank was there too, looking shell-shocked and confused by the sheer brutality of the crime. The victim was a police officer, beaten to death with what looked like bare hands.
"This is not a normal murder," Nick said, his new, enhanced senses taking in every detail. He could almost feel the residual rage in the air. "The rage... it's palpable."
"That's because it's not a normal Wesen," Adam said, his voice low. "It's an Ogron. A Grimm-killing Ogre. The victim was a cop who shot the Ogron's brother during a bank robbery. This isn't random. It's revenge."
Hank looked at him, his face a mask of disbelief. "A what? An Ogre? Adam, what are you talking about?"
Adam looked at Hank, a pang of guilt in his heart. Hank was still in the dark, and Adam knew that eventually, he'd be brought into the fold. But not yet. Not while they were dealing with something this big. "Just trust me, Hank. Nick and I will handle this. We need to find this guy before he kills again."
Monroe, using his enhanced senses, picked up a faint, musky scent. "It's him. He was here. He went this way." He pointed down the alley, a serious look on his face. "The scent… it's old, but it's there. Very strong."
The trio split from Hank, their mission clear. They used Monroe's tracking skills and Adam's foresight to follow the Ogron's trail. They found him at a construction site, a hulking figure of a man who woged into a monstrous Ogre with a horrifying roar. He was getting ready to kill another police officer.
"Alright, team. We've got this. Stick to the plan. Monroe, you're our muscle. Hit him hard and fast. Nick, you're our brain. Find a weakness, a chink in his armor. I'm... well, I'm the guy who tells you what to do. And also the guy who uses a very commanding voice."
The fight was brutal. The Ogron was a behemoth, a force of nature. But Nick and Monroe were no longer just a Grimm and a Blutbad. Nick, using his enhanced cunning, was able to anticipate the Ogron's moves, dodging his powerful blows with a newfound grace. Monroe, with his enhanced strength, was able to land powerful hits that actually staggered the Ogre, something he never would have been able to do before.
Adam, standing back, used his Aura to keep the Ogron's rage focused on him. "Hey, ugly! Looking for a real challenge? Come and get it," Adam taunted, his voice a commanding growl. The Ogron, in a blind rage, charged at Adam, giving Nick and Monroe the opportunity they needed.
Nick saw an opening, and with a swift, powerful kick, he sent the Ogron sprawling. Monroe, with a powerful uppercut, sent the Ogron flying into a pile of steel girders. The Ogron was defeated. He lay there, dazed and broken, a whimpering mess.
Adam walked over to the defeated Ogron, a grim expression on his face. He made a small cut on the Ogron's arm, just enough to draw a few drops of blood.
[System] Wesen Defeated. Initiating Blood Extraction Protocol. Wesen Type: Ogron. Extracting... Alchemical Vial Created: Ogron Potion.[System] The Ogron Potion grants a significant boost to physical strength and durability.
Adam looked at the glowing vial in his inventory, a satisfied smirk on his face. They had done it. They had won. And they had saved a life. Nick and Monroe were exhausted but exhilarated. They had faced a monster and won, not with a lucky shot, but with their new, enhanced abilities. The Grimm Pact was a success.
