Chapter 10: The Hexenbiest's Revenge and a New Ally
The victory over the barber Wesen had been a moral one, a quiet triumph for the team. But the calm was about to be shattered. Adalind Schade, humiliated and defeated, was not the kind of woman to let a grudge go. She had gone to a powerful Zauberbiest, a magical Wesen, to enact a curse on Nick. A curse that was a "death by a thousand bee stings" illusion. Nick was a cop, and he was a Grimm. He was also a target, and Adam knew that Adalind would not stop until she got her revenge.
"Alright, Adalind, you've gone too far. Cursing Nick? That's a line you don't cross. But this is a good thing. A very good thing. This curse is the perfect excuse to introduce Rosalee. She's the only one who can help. And she's a crucial part of the team. Monroe's future love interest. The spice shop expert. The potion master. I need her on our side."
The curse hit Nick in the middle of the night. He woke up screaming, a terrifying hallucination of a thousand bees swarming him, stinging him over and over again. The pain was real, but the bees were not. He was a detective, he knew what was happening to him, but he was powerless to stop it. He called Adam, his voice full of a genuine, heart-stopping terror.
"Adam… it's a curse. I'm being cursed. I can see… I can see the bees. They're everywhere. They're stinging me. I can't… I can't breathe."
Adam, with his Hexenbiest Potion, was able to feel the residual magical energy, the malevolent hum of the curse. He knew exactly what was happening. He called Monroe, and the two of them raced to Nick's apartment. They found him on the floor, writhing in agony, his skin covered in what looked like angry red welts.
"It's a magical curse," Adam said, his voice a calm, steady command. "It's an illusion. But the pain is real. The only way to stop it is to find the person who cursed him. Or to find a magical cure. We need to go to a spice shop. A very specific spice shop. We need to find Rosalee Calvert."
Monroe's eyes went wide. "Rosalee? She's... she's my friend. Her brother, the one you met... he just died. I don't think she's ready for this."
"She has to be," Adam said, a grim look on his face. "She's the only one who can help us. She's a Fuchsbau, a healer. She knows about this stuff. We need her."
They carried Nick to the spice shop, a small, unassuming building with a warm, welcoming glow. They found Rosalee inside, a beautiful, kind-looking woman with a shy smile and a fierce intelligence in her eyes. She was still grieving, but she was also a healer.
Adam, with his Aura of the First Grimm, was able to command her attention, to soothe her grief just enough to make her listen. "Rosalee Calvert. I'm Adam Stiels. We need your help. My friend, Nick, has been cursed by a Hexenbiest. We need a cure."
Rosalee looked at them, her eyes darting between Nick's pained face and Adam's calm, commanding presence. She was shocked, but also intrigued. She had never seen a Grimm like Adam before. She could feel his power, the raw, unyielding energy radiating from him, but it wasn't threatening. It was… protective.
"A curse? A Hexenbiest? My brother… he had a lot of dealings with them. I… I might be able to help. But this is going to be complicated."
Adam just nodded, a determined look on his face. "We know. But we're here. We're a team. And we're going to get through this. Together."
Rosalee, with her extensive knowledge of magic and potions, began to work on a cure. The spice shop was a whirlwind of activity, with Rosalee, Monroe, and Adam working together to find a solution. Nick lay on a cot in the corner, still screaming from the pain of the illusionary bees. The team was united, facing a new, magical threat. And they had a new, powerful ally.
