"As you can see, I'm the
I can't say more than that, but I can explain why I chose you."
Words filled the blank space on the page. After that, the book fell silent.
With a lost gaze, Naruto kept his eyes on the book, reading it multiple times. No matter how much he tried, he couldn't understand why this was happening.
Without waiting for the boy to come to his senses, the book's pages filled with new words.
"The reason I need your blood is to ensure that the person who is in front of me is still Naruto. No one else can read this, so don't worry about the Third Hokage. If you tried to tell him about this, it wouldn't matter, and he probably would have taken it as a joke."
As the words appeared on the page, Naruto seemed concerned. He didn't understand the first sentence, but the second one made a little more sense.
The last time he told Jiji about the book, the old man took it away and never mentioned it again.
"How does this work? And why does this thing know that Jiji came to visit me last time?"
Naruto rubbed his forehead, thinking furiously. None of this makes sense, and if what Ego said was true, he could only count on himself.
["For now, you only need to know that I'm going to teach you the things nobody else will: how to be alive and not just survive. It's important if you want to grow tall and make some friends in the academy."
"All of this is pre-recorded by the original owner. If you want to ask a question, wait for your birthday, and I'll give you some options based on what you know."
With these words, the book opened itself and let the pages flow quickly until they stopped, revealing a title
"Common sense(Naruto's edition)".
Things you need to learn to survive in Konoha and the Academy
-Be careful with your words; people like to distort things, especially if they hate you.
-Don't count on Jiji for everything; learn how to be independent, even if it is hard.
-Take care of yourself, at least for you, don't run all the way being poor looking.
-Treat others as they treat you, no matter if it's a cute girl or anyone else; they don't have the right to do so. For those people, you don't need to be kind, punch them, or at least throw their words back at them". Don't worry if their parents said something; remember that behind you is the Hokage.
-Don't skip classes. I know that sometimes it's boring, but they can help you, and if you're the last in the class, nobody will want to be your friend.
-You can ask the teacher for help; he can help you with some things. Remember, only ask for help if it's your teacher's class; don't trust the others.
-Be a friend to the Uchiha guy. This is important, both of you are more similar than you think.
"That's for the academy; the rest of the time is far more important. You haven't eaten well for all these years, and if you don't fix it, we can't continue."
After leaving a moment to read and remember everything, the book remained quiet while Naruto was just confused. He didn't understand why this book said these things, but it was information about the academy, and he couldn't refuse it. At least someone wanted to teach him, even if it was a talkative book.
After he was sure he could remember the most important things, his gaze returned to the book. This time, the words wouldn't be erased, so he didn't have to worry about not remembering them.
-Jiji gives you an amount of money every month, but you don't know how to spend it. At some point, Jiji can't buy for you, and the other things may be difficult if you don't learn how to do it.
-On the next page, there was a diagram of the Transformation Jutsu; learn it, and the next steps will be impossible if you don't.
-Aside from the ramen, you need to eat other things, or you can't grow as tall as you wish.
-If the money isn't enough, ask Jiji for more; he won't deny it.
-Use the Jutsu not for transforming into an adult but playing as a child is far easier.
To do that, you must learn about the child you want to interpret and avoid appearing nearby when the parents are around.
-Start to wake up earlier; you need to do that to meet the one who will be your master. He's easy to recognize; no one else in the village has his distinctive bowl cut, the powerfully built physique in the green of his uniform, the perfectly bright and unwavering smile that never left his face, and those intense eyes that belonged to no one else but Maito Gai.
-Start running around the village when everyone is sleeping, do it until you meet him. Then, approach and say that you want to learn.
If he asks for a reason, say this: "I want to burn out my youth." Do it as loudly as you can.
-If the previous step doesn't work, do it every day until he accepts you, and then you won't need to hide from other people.
-IMPORTANT: Don't wear whatever he gives to you. For each day that you wear these things, I will take away an option for the questions.
-If you follow this advice next year, I will teach you other things.
-On the other page, there's also the chakra refinement. Learn this first, then learn the Jutsu in the same way. It doesn't take long with your talent. Don't show others that you know this, fine? ]
With all the things said, the book stopped and fell silent. Now Naruto was even more confused than at the beginning; the advice didn't seem to be malicious, at least.
He only knew a little about Ninjas, so everyone can imagine the excitement he felt when the book gave him one Jutsu before entering the academy, and most importantly, praised his talent.
Rubbing his hands like a fly and keeping a brilliant smile on his face, Naruto wanted to start to read the page of the Jutsu, only to be mocked because the page wasn't allowed.
It said that first he needed to learn chakra to be able to learn the Transformation Jutsu.
["The first step to refining chakra(meditation) is to be able to keep your mind and body in a calm state (5 minutes is the bare minimum).
It's similar when you went to sleep and your mid is flowing around. It's a bit difficult to do, but if you succeed, the next steps will be much easier.
Try to do it and now imagine an empty space (you can call it The Fountain) on your chest who had energies floating around.
You can achieve this by appreciating the river, forgetting the fish, and keeping the river in your mind. Tranquility and flow should be the only things you have in mind.
It also helps the other part: your body. Being able to keep your body stable in that situation means you've made it.
You need to believe that this space is real and think that yo need to fill it with something, once the space take form you could continue with the next step.
The next step is to feel both sensations at the same time and try to mix them. The energy of the body is called Stamina. It feels like touching wet soil, a little slimy. Hold onto this sensation.
The energy of the mind is called Spiritual Energy, doesn't transmit a sensation, and feels like seeing fog on a rainy day.
You need to keep this energy on your space all the time and try to maintain these sensations, focusing on each one individually for at least five minutes. Once you can do this, mix them, and that's it – you've got chakra!
You also need to imbue your will into this mist of chakra to complete the steps. I will give you a small help to do this, you could understand it later.
A piece of advice, keep doing this even if you already achieve it."]
Reading the instructions, Naruto didn't want to wait to try it, but he knew that the book said other people couldn't find out what he was doing.
Knowing this, he realized he could only wait until the next morning to go.
Naruto spent the rest of the day reading the advice and the chakra introduction, doing everything to achieve it soon.
His enthusiasm came from the fact that the last time he'd asked Jiji to learn about chakra, Jiji had told him he wasn't ready for it. But now, he could learn it, and though he'd be alone, that didn't matter.
At the end of the day, Naruto couldn't remember all the advice, but the chakra introduction had to be in his mind for the rest of the time, so the other things didn't matter.
Glad for his progress, Naruto rewarded himself with a snack after dinner.
The day was over, and it was time to rest. Tomorrow would be a busy day.
It takes a whole week to imagine the space and mantain it all the time, he had writing about it in the walls of his room until he do it.
Ready to go to sleep, Naruto set his alarm clock to wake him when the sun rose (5 AM).
A week later next day, Naruto was already in the river trying to figure out how to follow the instructions, but he didn't know how to start. So, instead of thinking, he took action.
Submerging his feet in the river, it felt much colder than it usually did. The night breeze was usually gone when he came, but not now.
"Ughh, why do I torture myself this way?!" Naruto couldn't accept that he would have to do this for the next few years.
"Fine, let's do this! I'll solve it quickly," taking heart, he began to follow the steps.
Trying to relax his body, he closed his eyes and submerged his legs into the water. The first sensation he felt was cold, so cold that his body felt numb. When he felt that, he immediately got out of the river and covered his body with a towel.
"Hisss! How am I supposed to stay calm when it feels so cold?! This doesn't make sense!" Exhaling a cold breath, Naruto kept shaking from the sensation. Even though he was covered, the cold wouldn't leave his body.
"Maybe if I run for a while, it could help." With a cold and trembling body, Naruto put on his clothes and started running along the shore.
With his poor physical condition, he only needed a few minutes to fall exhausted. Then, he proceeded to try it again.
He kept doing it for three hours until he saw people in the surroundings. Then, he stopped and went home to take a shower and read the introduction once again.
Naruto didn't make much progress, but at least now he could stay in the water for a few minutes until he couldn't withstand the cold.
But he learned an important thing: his body sucks.
He realized that maybe he needed to eat more than just ramen.
That made him take training more seriously.
Knowing that, he spent the next few days doing the same thing until school began. Training was important, but meeting the other kids was something he wanted to do.
—-Four days passed quickly—-
On this day, Naruto couldn't follow his training routine as usual. School opened at 8 A.M., so from now on, he could only train for two hours and hurry to arrive on time.
He didn't know what to bring to school, so the only thing he had was the book and a pencil he had bought secretly.
It didn't take long to find the path to the school, which Jiji said was the largest building next to the Hokage building.
Five minutes to 8 A.M., Naruto was already on campus.
There were other kids, but no one stayed near him. Most of them were with their friends, and the others with their parents. No child was seen alone.
Taking one of the sides, Naruto waited for the announcement. In the center, there was a podium where someone would give a speech, he supposed.
20 minutes passed, but no one approached the center. Kids kept coming, and when the last one entered the gate, there was silence, but this didn't last long until the Hokage appeared without anyone noticing.
Whispers sounded along the campus; no one expected to see the Hokage on their first day.
Naruto remembered that some time ago, Jiji had told him that he was going to see him when he entered school, but he thought that Jiji would accompany him.
"I'm glad that a new generation of ninjas will grow during my mandate," with these words, Hiruzen welcomed the kids.
Most of them seemed happy to see the Hokage. For the majority, he was a hero and someone who deserved their respect; for a few, he was their life's goal.
After that, the old man gave a long speech that lasted long enough to bore most of the kids on campus. Seeing this, he ended the speech, saying:
"Keep the Will of Fire in your hearts, and all of you will be great ninjas." Leaving the podium and disappearing behind the walls, the kids burst into cheers.
The teachers had a problem leading the kids to their classrooms; they waited until they vented their enthusiasm. Every group teacher took the kids in their group to the classroom.
Following the man who had a scar across his nose, Naruto kept a smile on his face. Finally, he could become a ninja and use the things the book taught him.
"I wonder if the things they teach us in the academy will be the same as the book teaches me? Does that mean I'm better?" Thinking happily and without holding back his smile, the group arrived at the classroom.
When everyone takes a seat, the teacher knocks on the table to pay attention to him.
"Welcome, kids. For the next 6 years, all of you will be the focus of my care. My name is Iruka Umino, and I will be your teacher." Stopping for a moment, Iruka looked at the children
"If someone has a question, ask me, and I will help as much as I can. Now, does anyone want to introduce themselves? No need to mention your dreams; those will come later. No one will leave the classroom without doing so." Without losing a second, Iruka stated the important things and then sat at the table to let them talk.
Silence fell in the classroom for a second. It was clear that no one wanted to go first, but when nobody else paid attention, a pink-haired girl stood up and started to speak.
"Hello, my name is Sakura Haruno." The girl seemed a bit shy but had no problems. After that, every child introduced themselves until one of them caught Naruto's attention.
"I'm Sasuke Uchiha." Hearing that, Naruto took his book and read the advice.
-Be a friend to the Uchiha guy. This is important, both of you are more similar than you think.
"What does that mean? Do I need to befriend this guy?" Naruto was still confused, but he had one thing clear: "When I learn chakra, I'll beat him, and then we'll be friends."
With this new goal, Naruto overflowed with enthusiasm for training, eager to achieve two goals at the same time.
"That's all for today. Tomorrow, we will begin with the history of our village. Take notes because I will give a test every two weeks." Saying that, Iruka took his book and got out of the classroom.
When everyone is sure that the teacher is gone, they start to talk to each other. Naruto tried to talk with some kids, but they ignored him or told him that their parents won't allow them to talk to him.
He was upset about it, but he couldn't tell them not to listen to their parents, so he went back home and continued trying to meditate to learn chakra faster than the other kids.
Nothing important happened in the next few days. The training didn't stop, and he kept going to classes even if it was boring.
What he noticed was that Iruka seemed slightly angry when he saw him, so he wouldn't go to him to ask, even if he couldn't understand how to do the meditation.
Jiji came to visit, and Naruto asked him what had happened with the book, just to know if Jiji could notice something or if it was true that only he could read it.
e told him one more time to stop thinking about that book and focus on school. If Naruto did great work, he would be rewarded. He wasn't interested in that, but the fact that Jiji didn't know about the book amazed him.
With that in mind, Naruto started to study harder, but he wouldn't neglect chakra refinement; he wanted to learn that Jutsu to search for his master.
"I'll do it, then no one could despise me," with a firm gaze, Naruto said this in the mirror. With that thought, he went to sleep.

¡Hey!
The chakra progression will be a bit different since Naruto is preparing for something that common chakra won't help him with. This seems similar to the meditation in mage novels, and it will be explained in the story.
I think the reason Naruto seems to be so stupid is that no one taught him until he met Jiraiya, and he lost so many years to suffering from malnutrition.
The first chapters (until he graduated from school) will be fast, just showing how he's doing in those years. After that, the pacing will be normal.
English isn't my first language, so I'm sorry for the grammar mistakes. I'll try to improve it.
