Chapter 18: Paradoxes & Playful Pursuits
The Waverider. My personal time-traveling Uber, complete with a perpetually stressed driver and a crew that specialized in making bad decisions in various historical periods. "Seriously, how do these guys keep getting into trouble? It's like they have a magnet for temporal anomalies," Adam mused, subtly appearing in the cargo bay.
[SYSTEM: Temporal Jump Complete. Destination: Various Past Eras (Legends S01E07: "Marooned" & S01E08: "Night of the Hawk"). Objective: Observe Temporal Paradoxes. Suggestion: Utilize Time Travel for playful interference.]
"Playful interference? System, you speak my language," Adam thought, a mischievous glint in his eye. The Legends were dealing with being marooned in the past, and then later, dealing with the fallout of their own actions. Prime territory for some temporal shenanigans.
He found Rip Hunter, looking particularly frazzled, trying to fix a temporal anomaly on a console. Adam decided to give him a little nudge towards a nervous breakdown.
"Alright, Rip, time for a little existential crisis," Adam thought. He focused, creating a temporary illusion of a historical figure breakdancing in the corner of Rip's vision. Something utterly anachronistic. Like Abraham Lincoln doing the worm.
[SYSTEM: Time Anomaly Created: Minor. Effect: Localized Temporal Confusion.]
Rip, mid-calculation, flinched. He rubbed his eyes. "Did… did I just see… a historical figure… breakdancing?" He looked around frantically. "Gideon, run a diagnostic! Are my temporal sensors malfunctioning?!"
Gideon's calm voice replied, "All systems nominal, Captain."
Rip groaned, burying his face in his hands. "I'm losing my mind."
Adam, hidden nearby, stifled a laugh. "Success! Rip, officially questioning his sanity. My work here is already a triumph."
Later, he found Sara, looking intense as she trained. Adam decided it was time to continue their chaotic courtship. He used his illusions to make her briefly see him in multiple places at once – a tiny Adam on her shoulder, another one waving from the ceiling, another one doing a tiny jig in her peripheral vision.
Sara, mid-punch, paused. She spun, her eyes narrowed, trying to pinpoint him. "You! How are you doing that?! Are you multiplying?!"
"Just trying to be everywhere for my favorite assassin," Adam said, materializing directly behind her, a casual lean against a non-existent wall. "So, about that second date? I'm thinking something with less time travel and more… actual food. Maybe a nice, quiet dinner. With no giant rubber ducks."
Sara's lips twitched. "You're impossible." She lunged, a perfectly aimed punch. Adam, with a casual shimmer, phased through her, reappearing a few feet away.
"Almost got me!" Adam grinned. "But hey, good form. You're getting faster. Maybe one day you'll actually land a punch on me. Probably not, but a guy can dream."
Sara shook her head, a genuine, if begrudging, smile on her face. "You know, I'm going to catch you one day, Stiels. And when I do, you're going to regret all those puns."

He then found Snart, looking cynical as ever. Adam approached him. "So, Captain, got any advice for a guy trying to woo a highly trained assassin? I've tried charm, wit, and inexplicable appearances. What's next? A dramatic monologue about the nature of time?"
Snart, a rare, almost imperceptible smirk on his face, replied, "Women, kid, are like a good heist. You plan, you execute, and you always have an exit strategy. And sometimes, you just gotta steal their heart. Figuratively, of course."
Adam blinked. "So… I should steal her heart? Like, literally? With a crowbar?"
Snart sighed, shaking his head. "You really don't get it, do you? Just… keep doing whatever it is you're doing. It seems to be working. In its own bizarre way."
"He gets me," Adam thought, beaming. "Snart, the master of subtle encouragement. This is truly a beautiful friendship."
As the Legends grappled with their pasts, Adam continued his playful pursuit, leaving a trail of bewildered heroes and temporal glitches in his wake. "Time travel is fun. Especially when you're the one making everyone else question reality."
