Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: The Calculator's Conundrum

Chapter 20: The Calculator's Conundrum

Star City. Where every family reunion seems to involve a supervillain. Adam, having just returned from the aquatic chaos of Central City, felt a familiar pull towards the dramatic tension of the Arrowverse. "The Calculator. Felicity's dad. So, we're doing the 'villainous parent' trope now, huh? Classic. I wonder if he sends her a 'World's Best Hacker Dad' mug," Adam mused, teleporting into a discreet corner of the Arrow Cave.

[SYSTEM: Temporal Jump Complete. Destination: Star City. Objective: Observe Arrow S04E12: "Unchained". Suggestion: Utilize Technopathy for strategic interference.]

"Strategic interference? System, you know I prefer 'chaotic brilliance'," Adam thought, a wry smile on his face. He knew the drill: Brie Larvan, the Bug-Eyed Bandit, was back, and Felicity was about to discover her father's true identity. Prime time for some tech-based shenanigans.

He materialized in the Arrow Cave, making a soft thump that startled everyone. Oliver, Felicity, and Diggle spun around, weapons raised.

"Whoa, easy there, Team Arrow," Adam said, raising his hands. "Just dropping by to offer some unsolicited advice on network security. You know, for a secret lair, this place has more holes than a Swiss cheese factory. Or, you know, my dating life."

Felicity glared at him. "You! The ghost hacker! How do you keep getting in here?! And what are you talking about?!"

"Just saying," Adam shrugged, gesturing vaguely at the consoles, "your firewalls are about as effective as a screen door on a submarine. And speaking of security, you might want to check your drone protocols. I hear some bees are getting a little… rebellious."

Oliver, his jaw clenched, just stared at him. "Are you here to help, or to annoy us?"

"Why not both?" Adam grinned. "It's my specialty."

Later, as Brie Larvan unleashed her swarm of killer bees, Adam knew it was time to intervene. Felicity was struggling to hack into Brie's systems, her fingers flying across the keyboard.

"Alright, Brie, time for a little bug in the system," Adam thought. He focused, picturing Brie's drones malfunctioning in a hilarious way.

[SYSTEM: Technopathy used. Target: Brie Larvan's Drone. Effect: Minor Malfunction. Outcome: Positive (for Team Arrow).]

Suddenly, a swarm of Brie's killer bees, instead of attacking, began to fly in a perfectly synchronized formation, spelling out "BEE HAPPY!" in the sky. Then, they dissolved into a shower of glitter.

Brie Larvan, mid-monologue, stopped dead. Her eyes, usually cold and calculating, widened in utter bewilderment. "What in the…?! My… my bees! They're… they're happy?!"

Oliver, mid-arrow-nock, paused. He stared at the glitter. "Did… did her bees just spell out a message?"

Felicity, meanwhile, was muttering, "Another inexplicable tech glitch. It's like the universe has a very strange sense of humor."

"You're welcome, Team Arrow," Adam thought, stifling a giggle. "Sometimes, the best offense is a good dose of positive affirmations and glitter."

[SYSTEM: Achievement Unlocked: Unconventional Heroism. Reward: New Ability - Technopathy ("Techno-Sorcery").]

[SYSTEM: New Ability Acquired: Technopathy ("Techno-Sorcery"). Energy Cost: Low. Limitation: Requires touch/proximity for strong effects.]

Adam grinned. "Boom! Technopathy! Now I can annoy tech villains directly! This is going to be so much fun. Felicity's going to love me. Or hate me. Probably both."

He then found Felicity, still struggling with The Calculator's encryption. Adam teleported beside her, leaning over her shoulder.

"You know, Felicity," Adam said, casually, "if you're trying to hack a supervillain's system, you might want to try thinking outside the box. Like, have you tried turning it off and on again? Or, you know, nanobots. Those are pretty effective. Just saying."

Felicity shrieked, spinning around. "You! Again! And what are nanobots?! And no, I have not tried turning it off and on again! This is a supervillain's system, not my toaster!"

Adam shrugged innocently. "Just offering some friendly advice. But hey, if you need a giant, annoying robot to follow Oliver around and buzz sarcastically, I'm your guy." He snapped his fingers, and a tiny, illusory robot appeared, hovering behind Oliver, making a loud, exaggerated BZZZZZZZZZ sound. Oliver flinched, spinning around, but saw nothing.

[SYSTEM: Achievement Progress: Annoy Hero (Felicity Smoak). Current: 10%]

Adam teleported away, leaving a bewildered Team Arrow to deal with their tech problems and their inexplicable buzzing. "The Calculator, successfully confused. Felicity, successfully annoyed. This is the life."
