Chapter 13: The League's Legacy & Prank Wars
Star City. Where the only thing more complicated than the family trees are the moral dilemmas. Adam, having left Central City to its temporal woes, decided to check in on Oliver Queen and the ever-dramatic Team Arrow. "Diggle's dealing with Andy, Oliver's probably brooding, and Felicity's definitely stressing over something. Prime prank territory," Adam mused, teleporting into the Arrow Cave.
[SYSTEM: Temporal Jump Complete. Destination: Star City. Objective: Observe Arrow S04E11: "A.W.O.L.". Suggestion: Exacerbate internal team tensions for comedic effect.]
"Exacerbate tensions? System, you truly understand my artistic vision," Adam thought, a wicked gleam in his eye. He found Oliver and Diggle in a tense conversation, the air thick with unspoken words and brotherly angst.
Adam, unseen, materialized on a high perch in the bunker, casually munching on a bag of chips. "Well, this is an awkward family dinner. Anyone got a reality TV show pitch for these guys? 'Keeping Up With The Queens and Their Existential Crises'?" he muttered, just loud enough for the System to register.
He focused on Oliver. Shimmer. Suddenly, to Oliver's eyes, a tiny, glowing squirrel with a miniature green hood appeared on Diggle's shoulder, chittering furiously and making accusatory gestures. Oliver blinked. He rubbed his eyes. The squirrel was gone. He looked at Diggle, then back at the empty space.
Diggle, oblivious, continued his serious conversation. Oliver, however, was clearly vexed. "Am I losing it? Is this stress? Or is Darhk messing with my head again?"
[SYSTEM: Illusion deployed. Target: Oliver Queen. Effect: Minor Annoyance.]
Adam grinned. "One down. Oliver, officially questioning his sanity. My work here is already a success."
Later, he found Felicity, frantically typing, trying to trace something on her computer. Adam knew she was the key to his next prank.
He teleported directly behind her, leaning over her shoulder. "You know, Felicity, if you're trying to hack into a secure network, you might want to try a different approach. Like, have you tried yelling 'Open Sesame' at it? Works in the movies. Or, you know, nanobots. Those are pretty effective."
Felicity shrieked, spinning around, nearly knocking over her chair. "You! The ghost hacker! How do you keep doing that?! And what are nanobots?!"
"Trade secrets, my dear Watson," Adam replied, winking. "But seriously, you look stressed. Need a break? Maybe a pop quiz on the geopolitical implications of the 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' finale?"
Felicity just stared at him, her mouth agape. "I… I don't even know what to say to that."
"Good," Adam said. "Because I'm about to give you some unsolicited advice on how to hack… me." He snapped his fingers, and her screen briefly flickered to show a complex, rapidly scrolling series of binary code, interspersed with images of rubber chickens and a tiny, pixelated Adam Stiels giving a thumbs-up. Then it reverted to normal.
Felicity stared at the screen, then at Adam, then back at the screen. "What… what was that?! My system just… glitched! And it had… chickens!"
Adam shrugged innocently. "Must be a new virus. Or maybe your computer just has a very discerning taste in poultry. Either way, you're welcome."

He then turned his attention to a minor criminal being interrogated by Diggle. The criminal was being stubborn, refusing to talk.
"Time for a little persuasive magic," Adam thought. He focused on the criminal's mind.
[SYSTEM: Mind Control used. Target: Criminal. Effect: Accelerated Confession.]
Suddenly, the criminal's eyes glazed over. He sat up straight, cleared his throat, and in a surprisingly clear voice, began to confess everything, in excruciating detail, including his favorite flavor of ice cream and his deepest regrets about not pursuing a career in interpretive dance.
Diggle, mid-question, stared at the criminal, then at the one-way mirror, then back at the criminal. "What in the…?"
Adam, hidden, stifled a laugh. "See? Efficiency. And a little bit of flair. This is what happens when you let a pop-culture fanatic run wild with superpowers."
[SYSTEM: Achievement Progress: Annoy Hero (John Diggle). Current: 10%]
He teleported away, leaving a bewildered Team Arrow to deal with their suddenly verbose criminal and the lingering feeling that something, or someone, was subtly messing with their reality. "Oliver's probably going to blame aliens. Again. It's always aliens with him."
