Genos hadn't noticed that Kaito Ren, despite being warned to leave, had instead stealthily approached. Genos was completely focused on the monsters, particularly the three cyborgs. Defeating them would mean valuable new parts for his body.
He held his breath, his eyes fixed on the cyborgs thirty meters away, analyzing the battle's possibilities using his data.
Here they come!
A serious expression crossed Genos's face. His sensors detected the five monsters approaching. The distance was closing rapidly.
Genos raised his right arm, his powerful rocket launcher trained on the three cyborgs. He intended to take them down in one fell swoop.
Opportunity!
When the monsters were less than twenty meters away, Genos attacked. Dozens of rockets streaked towards the cyborgs. Explosions rocked the area, the blast radius encompassing tens of meters. Trees were decimated, rocks pulverized.
After the dust settled, a crater ten meters wide had formed. Genos prepared to finish off the remaining two monsters and collect his spoils when he saw the three cyborgs and the other two monsters standing unscathed at the bottom of the crater. An energy shield had appeared before them, absorbing the full force of the explosions.
"Impossible?!"
Genos stared in disbelief at the unharmed monsters. He had meticulously calculated everything. Why? Why had this happened?
"Hee hee hee, traitorous cyborg, we've been watching you since you arrived! We just pretended not to notice to lure you out!"
The lead cyborg, its body encased in dark metal, smirked, deactivating the shield.
"What?!"
Genos's face paled. He had been too careless, his mind solely focused on acquiring new parts for upgrades and completely overlooking his own exposure.
Dr. Kuseno, I'm so sorry, I've let you down!
I can only self-destruct!
Genos took a deep breath, his expression a mixture of bitterness and resignation. He hadn't yet found the ones responsible for his parents' deaths and the destruction of his village. But he was facing five opponents, and he was alone. A one-on-five fight was impossible. Self-destruction was his only option. And trading himself for five of them seemed like a good deal. Hopefully, his parents' killer was among them. That would make his death less meaningless.
Genos began to overload his core, the power source spinning wildly, energy radiating outwards—the unmistakable sign of impending self-destruction.
WHAT THE HELL?!
Kaito Ren, who had been observing from the sidelines, nearly spat out his blood. Self-destruction maniac, indeed! This was insane! And he was far too close to escape the blast radius.

"Next time you decide to self-destruct, please check if there are any bystanders, okay?!"

Genos turned, staring at Kaito Ren. When had he arrived? How had he not sensed him?
Kaito Ren had no time for explanations. He focused on the five monsters now surrounding them, activating his Observation Eye.

Kaito Ren assigned the weaker monsters to Genos. If Genos faced the cyborgs first and was instantly defeated, Kaito Ren would be in a very precarious position. Even if Genos couldn't defeat the weaker monsters, he could buy Kaito Ren enough time to deal with the cyborgs.
"Understood!"
Genos nodded, his gaze fixed on the cyborgs.
"Let's go!"
Kaito Ren charged at the three cyborgs. Genos intercepted the two weaker monsters.
"Kid, you're going to die trying to take on the three of us!"
Cyborg A laughed scornfully.
Kaito Ren's face twitched. He decided to make Cyborg A his primary target. He moved swiftly, dodging Cyborgs B and C, focusing all his strength into a single punch aimed at Cyborg A's head.
BANG!
With a deafening impact, Cyborg A's head was obliterated, revealing a mess of sparking wires.
Not only Genos, but Kaito Ren himself was shocked. When had his punches become so powerful? He had instantly defeated a Wolf-level Middle cyborg with a single blow!
