Lukas's POV :
I swung my bag over my shoulder and let my signature smirk creep onto my lips. I entered the school and raised my hand as I walked through the hallway. No, not because I'm crazy. 'Cause the girls are all screaming. It makes me happy and annoyed at the same time.
I heard footsteps approaching from behind. Not footsteps— footruns!
I turned over and grinned, "Yo, bro!" Axel swung his arm over my shoulder.
We both walked through the hallway, grinning and waving at the girls. "All the girls are over you. Do you think I stand a chance?" Axel whispered into my ear. I let out a laugh and nodded. "Probably? I'll reject your types, then you can grab the chance." I half-joked.
He chuckled and smacked my arm, "Yes, please."
We both laughed and high-fived as we walked into the hall. We both scanned our fingerprints for attendance before walking towards the locker room and keeping our heavy stuff there. We walked into the classroom. Half of the students had already arrived, including Cassie, Kurt, and Zeke. And of course...Grandma.
Axel and I both walked towards the last bench and sat in our respective seats. Kurt and Zeke greeted us politely. Zeke picked up his Murder-mystery book and started to read it. I guess he'll become a detective one day?
Kurt looked at me and smiled, "Today's PE class, remember?"
Axel nodded with a grin, "Yeah. All the girls will wear tight clothes. It'll be a great chance to—"
Zeke smacked his head with his book, "Don't you dare finish that sentence." He said coldly.
Axel let out a 'ouch!' and rubbed his head. "You're too cruel, man. You can blame me, though," he grinned.
We all rolled our eyes before the homeroom teacher came in. We all greeted him again and the school started~
I opened my eyes and looked around. God— I FELL ASLEEP?!
It's literally the second period. When did the first end? Dumb Lukie.
I looked at the boys with narrowed eyes, "Couldn't you all wake me up?"
Axel blinked, "What are you talking about? Almost all the students were sleeping. Except Grandma, of course."
I gritted my teeth, "YOU COULD'VE WOKEN ME UP!"
Axel grinned, "We were asleep, too, bro"
--------------------------------------------------
Phew. Another boring PE class.
I've been hating this damn subject since Grade 11.
I spun the basketball lazily on my finger, waiting for Coach Ramirez to finish barking instructions. The girls were already lining up for jogging, stretching like they were in a pageant. Athletic babes.
The guys were hyping up for scrimmage. Except my group, of course.
I looked around, smirking as always. All girls were wearing tight PE shirts and tight track pants. I knew them well enough to understand that they were all doing this to impress me. But were they passing? Hell yeah. Especially Cassie.
Axel, being the shameless person he was, flirting with Ellie.
My eyes suddenly fell on the nerdy Grandma.
Samara? Amara? Whatever.
She was wearing an oversized PE shirt, looking like she's drowning in it, her glasses sliding down her nose while she jogged like a scared mouse. I almost laughed. HOW CAN SOMEONE LOOK THAT WEAK AND PATHETIC?!
I caught Cassie whispering something to her minions, making them laugh, their eyes on the nerd. Good. At least they were entertained?
I dribbled the ball hard, bouncing it towards Nerdy Grandma, just close enough to make her jump.
"Hey—!", she whispered. Thank God my ears are too good. "Be careful...it can h-hurt someone..."
She grabbed her water bottle as if it would shield her from me, "Be...careful...", she whispered so softly that I could barely hear it.
I smirked before making a fake annoyed face, "What? Did you say something?"
She panicked and swallowed, shaking her head vigorously, "N-no-!"
Scaredy mouse.
I stepped back, nodding, "Oi! At least pass my ball back!"
She flinched before nodding and picking up the ball gently, walking towards me slowly. She handed me the ball as if it were a diamond or something. I looked down at her trembling form. Too weak.
I turned around and flicked the ball to Axel, who was talking and laughing with Kurt and Zeke now.
My eyes fell on Nerdy Grandma again, who continued her jogging. (Un)Fortunately, she tripped on her own feet, making everyone laugh.
--------------------------------------------------------
Coach Ramirez called for scrimmage. I grabbed the ball, feeling the familiar thrill everytime I grab it, as if I'm a professional— Nah nah, won't praise myself. That's not the habit of a 'Good Boy', is it?
Anyway, Cassie was at sidelines, screaming my name, flipping her hair like she was in a commercial. I flashed her my charming grin before looking away.
For some damn, pathetic, and WEIRD reasons, my eyes wandered to the front where the nerd was, flinching everytime a ball bounced near her, her braid swinging awkwardly everytime she does that. She took off her glasses and began to wipe them with the hem of her PE shirt. My eyes flickered to her eyes. I realized my eyes widening as I look at her dark brown doe eyes. They were so— NO!DAMNIT LUKIE! WHAT WEREYOU THINKING?!
SHE'S A NERD FOR GOD'S SAKE!
I shook my head before smirking again and dribbling the ball towards her, making her flinch and move away.
I yelled, "NICE DANCE, NERDY GRANDMA!"
The whole class laughed aloud, except Zeke and Kurt. She froze, stepping back and she looked at everyone, her eyes glossy, as if she was going to cry. Tears? Already?
Weak.
------------------------------------------------
After the game, I walked towards the sidelines, letting Cassie dry my sweat with a towel as I chugged water from my water bottle. I breathed heavily, sweat sliding down my neck. I noticed Kurt walking towards Nerdy Grandma with a pitiful expression. I gritted my teeth and pushed Cassie away.
"Hey, Kurt! Bro, I need your help!" I yelled from the sidelines.
Kurt turned around and hesitated before nodding and walking towards me. I smiled with satisfaction as he stopped in front of me.
"What is it, Lukie? You okay?", he asked with worry.
I nodded with a smirk, "Yeah. You shouldn't pay attention to that nerd, bro. You're MY friend."
Kurt's face turned into an annoyed one, that look whenever he thinks I'm interfering with something good he's doing.
"You lied to me?! Lukie, you're too much sometimes!", he said with an irritated tone.
I rolled my eyes with a scoff, "What? I just don't want my best friend to talk to that nerd."
What's the deal with him? I just don't want him to pay attention to Nerdy Grandma. Why is he overreacting?
She's just a loser.
I walked out of the court, dribbling the ball lazily, the echo of the bounce mixing with Cassie's laughter as she loops her arm around mine. She was talking to me, but I was not really listening.
My mind flickered back to those doe eyes- the way they watered when she looked at everyone, backing away.
I feel nothing.
Or so I think.
I shook my head, smirking again.
Pathetic loser.
