Chapter 7 - Sweet Dreams, Sweet Realities

Amara's POV :

I got out of the car and looked up at my luxurious mansion.

I sighed and walked inside the mansion, greeting the guards. As soon as I stepped onto the floor of the entrance hall, the sound of four feet running could be heard. I smiled as my two little blonde siblings came running to me, hugging my legs. "ATE!!!"

Yeah. Ate meant 'elder sister' in Tagalog.

They're my half-siblings. Luna and Liam.

My dad doesn't like them. Not because they're too naughty. But because they're the sign of my mum's infidelity. My mum's an actress. When I was ten, she dated her co-star and ended up having Liam and Luna. Their dad didn't accept the kids, so she had to bring the kids here. I love them. It's not their fault that my mom cheated on their stepdad. Dad had been distant from our home. He never looked at my mom like before. But he absolutely loved me. According to him, I'm the only sign that proves that my mum loved him. Even once. She still loves him. She feels guilty for cheating on him, but Dad doesn't trust her.

I patted Luna and Liam's heads. "Hey, kiddos. Didn't you go to school?"

Liam looked up at me. "We did, ate. But it was a half day."

I nodded. "Yeah. I forgot that." Mum approached us with a smile. She was a pretty lady who looked too young for her 40s. She had long, wavy brown hair, just like my dad and me. Liam and Luna got their hair colour from their biological father.

"Sweety, how was your day?" She asked politely. She knew I had been trying to avoid her ever since she cheated on Dad. But a mother is a mother. And a daughter is a daughter. Can't ignore her for long.

"It was nice." I lied. How couldn't I? How would Mum and my twin siblings feel after knowing that their 'sweety' and 'ate' is getting bullied in school? I don't want to be the reason for their stress.

"Alright," Mum smiles. "Go and freshen up. The cook made pizza. You can have it."

I nodded before walking upstairs. I grabbed the doorknob of the door, on which the board said 'Mara's room with sweet droom' and swung it to reveal my big bedroom. I closed the door behind me and kept my bag on the chair of my desk before walking towards the mirror. Am I that imperfect?

I sighed and took out some comfortable clothes from my wardrobe before entering the bathroom. I was so lost in thought, I didn't even notice when the shower ended.

I walked out of the bathroom after putting on my clothes. I found myself standing before the large mirror, meeting my own gaze. I don't see a grandma anymore. All I see is a 'normal' girl who's sixteen. Fair skin, dark brown doe eyes, long dark brown straight hair, pink lips, and slender figure. I look...different. With the tank top and little shorts. With my damp hair cascading down my waist.

I'm not wearing the school uniform, nor the round glasses, nor the single braid. I don't look like a grandma. Should I go to school like this? I think I should. But why?

To impress some jerks like Lukas? To be objectified? NO!I'm okay with my grandma looks.

I lay on the bed and closed my eyes. Kurt's kind face and sweet words began to form in my mind. A small smile curled up my lips. Suddenly, a shout echoed from downstairs.

"SWEETY! HAVE SOME PIZZA, DEAR!"

-------------------------------------------------

I opened my eyes and yawned, stretching my arms. I grabbed my iPhone from the bedside table and stared at the lock screen with the wallpaper of me, Luna, and Liam. The time was showing 5:03. I never use an alarm as I wake up at the same time, 5 o'clock. Give or take a few minutes. I pushed myself up and let my legs dangle off the edge of the bed. I got up from the bed and wore my bunny slippers before going to the bathroom. I brushed my teeth with my kitty brush and used mouthwash before I entered the shower.

I walked downstairs a few minutes later, wearing my school uniform and round glasses, my hair tied into a single braid again. I joined my family on the dining table and greeted my siblings and Mum before my eyes landed on Dad.

"Good morning, Dad", I smiled warmly. "How was your sleep?"

My dad, who looked as handsome as ever, smiled at me. "Good morning, darling. Not a good sleep, though. Been thinking about some business meetings as always. How was your sleep?"

"Never better." I grinned as the maids served us light breakfast. I always have two pandesals, one boiled egg, a banana, and a glass of water for breakfast.

I noticed Mum glancing at Dad often. I noticed that Dad knew that Mum was looking at him, too. But of course, he ignored it. Typical Filipino Arguments. Except arguments can be solved.

We had breakfast quietly. Dad says 'No talking on the dining table.' But Liam and Luna are just six. And they don't like to obey others, except me.

"Ate, do you know Liam has a crush on a girl in our classss!" Luna giggled. My eyes widened as well as Mum's. Dad wasn't reacting but I knew he was listening. "Her name's Keira Sarmiento!"

I nearly chocked into my water. EXCUSE ME?! SARMIENTO?!

No, no...it's not-

"And her elder brother studies with ate! Do you know him, ate?" Luna asked curiously. Both mine and Liam's cheeks turned red.

I cleared my throat before looking at Mum and Dad. "Mum, Dad, I should go now. I can't be late. Bye, kiddos!" I ruffled Luna and Liam's hair before grabbing my bag and walking out of the mansion.

I took a deep breath. My little brother had an innocent crush on Kurt's little sister?! God, it's messed up. I just wish Lukas and Axel don't find it out. I can't stand someone (except me and Luna) teasing or insulting Liam.

Mr. Robins appeared from the parking lot.

"Are you ready, miss? he asked gently.

I nodded, "Yeah, let's go."

I walked towards the parking lot. Towards another day at San Lorenzo Academy of Excellence.
