Chapter 1 - Chapter:1 "The Last Train"

Tokyo had always been loud. Blinding lights. Rushed steps. Conversations overlapping in a sea of voices. But that night, to me, everything felt muted—like the city had swallowed me whole and left only my heartbeat echoing in the silence.

I didn't plan it this way. Not really.

The argument with my mother had started small, like they always did. But small things, when left unchecked, grow teeth. My mother's words had been sharp, accusing. "You're just like him," she had spat, eyes wild, shoulders trembling. "Always running. Always betraying."

I didn't think it would go this far. I just needed space. Just needed to be away from my mother's sharp words, her cold accusations. Ever since my father vanished, my mother had changed. So did i. We don't understand each other anymore. We didn't even try to.

I left with no destination. A hoodie thrown over my head. A half-charged phone in my pocket and a bag with very few things . It was stupid, reckless—i knew that.

I didn't yell back this time as i heard my mom yelling about how pathetic i was just like my father....,

Maybe i hoped my mother would follow.

But

Sʜᴇ ᴅɪᴅɴ'ᴛ

Now, my footsteps echoed through the nearly empty subway station. My backpack was light—just the essentials: a wallet, a charger, a notebook with half-finished thoughts and scribbled dreams, and a photo of my father, the one i wasn't supposed to keep. He disappeared years ago, leaving only questions and my mother's rage behind.

I stood by the platform edge, eyes fixed on the tunnel ahead, waiting for the last train that never came.

Time stretched. One minute. Five. Ten. I checked my phone: no service.

That's when i heard it.

The click of a shoe on tile. Slow. Unhurried. A deliberate kind of rhythm.

I turned my head slowly, just slightly. My breath caught.

A man.

Tall. Pale. Dressed too neatly for someone at this hour.he looked creepy from above

He wasn't rushing to catch a train. No. He was watching me and as our eye met

He smiled.

And it wasn't kind.

My instincts screamed. I backed away . The man mirrored my step for step, calmly, like he had all the time in the world.

Then next i ran.

—and next, hands were over my mouth, cold metal against my wrists, and the world tilted sideways.

A voice whispered near my ear, low and casual: "Don't make a sound."

I wanted to scream, but it came out muffled. My limbs flailed, but he was stronger. The smell of bleach and rubber gloves burned my nose.

Everything went dark.

/////////////

When i woke up, i was somewhere else.

Concrete floor. Rusted pipes. A single flickering light above me, My wrists were tied loosely—too loosely for someone experienced. That was his mistake.

I stayed still. Listened.

Footsteps. Then nothing.

I wriggled my hands until the rope slipped. Adrenaline surged.

I bolted. My bag was lying just beside me and i took it with me

A door creaked open and slammed behind me as i sprinted barefoot down a hallway that stank of mold and decay. My chest pounded. My vision blurred. But i kept going.

He shouted from somewhere behind me. His voice was calm, unhurried. "Run, little rabbit. It's fun this way."

I burst through another door—and suddenly, the cold hit me like a slap. Trees. Darkness. Night air.

I was outside.

The ground beneath me turned from gravel to dirt, then grass. I didn't know where i was. Just kept running, branches whipping across my face, breath ragged, lungs burning.

And then the forest ended.

A hill. High. Steep. Below—dark water.river i know where i am

I skidded to a stop at the edge, feet digging into the dirt.

Behind me, leaves crunched.

I turned immediately

He stood there. Smiling.

No more running. No more hiding. Just him. Just me

And the river

"You really made me chase you, huh?" he chuckled. "But you know there's no way back now."

I trembled. My mind screamed to fight, to run, to do something—anything. But there was nowhere left to go.

I stared at the water. Deep. Black. Cold.i had never learned how to swim.

Still...

I took a step back.

He tilted his head. "Really? You'd rather drown?"

My eyes met his one last time. "I'd rather take my chances than be your victim."

Then i jumped.

The fall was short.

The silence, eternal.

The cold hit like a wall of knives. My lungs filled with water. My limbs thrashed instinctively, uselessly.

I tried to swim i was hitting the water with my hands and legs continuously but nothing worked i just become more weak i couldn't breathe i felt like crying i felt like never doing any of these

But i did it already

Darkness closed in.

And everything went still.
