Not that it's my business," Fenris says from behind, voice steady, almost quiet, "but I realized that man's a psychopath. And I can tell you don't want to be with him. But because he's controlling, and powerful, and obsessed with you, you can't even get away. He'd just find you again. So you do what he says."
Axel turns slowly, his body tense as the words settle into the silence of the room. He finds Fenris standing just a few feet away now, in the middle of the living room, where Axel has been standing by the window, eyes drifting past the glass.
Fenris is fully dressed, looking alert now, the exhaustion from before gone, as if being up on his feet has already stirred his energy back into place.
"I don't want to be with him?" Axel repeats, his voice firmer now, a note of resistance slipping in. "When did I say that?"
His eyes narrow slightly, his face guarded because something in him doesn't want Fenris to think he's weak.
