"Thanks, but no, I'm not planning on anything," Fenris says simply, his tone dismissive, like the entire conversation is nothing more than a passing inconvenience.
Axel stiffens, jaw tightening. "Jeremy looked like he actually needed your help. Why are you being so selfish when he is always there for you? I could see it through him how he's always worrying about you. When he should be somewhere else, he risks being here with you! Are you really that heartless?!"
"Just stop!" Fenris snaps, the sudden rise in his voice cutting through the room like a whip. "You have no idea what you're talking about! You can't just come out of nowhere and now think you understand everything!"
His chest heaves once as he swallows hard, rage and something heavier lodged in his throat.
"I'm being heartless?! If he's the only decent one in that place, then why doesn't he leave? Why doesn't he let the rest of them burn in their own fire?!"
