As Rhydian walked away, Tavian and Kayden followed suit, leaving Riven and me alone. Riven immediately struggled out of my arms until he stood upright, though he staggered faintly.
When our eyes met, he had a deep scowl on his face.
"You shouldn't have done that," he snapped, "I could have easily handled them."
He could've what?
"They were going to beat you to a pulp. Didn't look like you were easily handling them to me," I said, my tone clipped as I stood and faced him.
"You got hit because of me," he said, biting his words like it hurt him to say them.
"I'm fine. Might've cracked a rib or two but I heal fast, so no need to worry about me," I crossed my arms over my chest as silence hung between us until he shattered it.
"Is it true?" his jaw clenched. "Were you desperate to do Rhydian's dare?"
His question threw me off guard, surprising me as my eyes slightly widened. The serious expression etched on his face told me he wasn't bluffing.
