The ride back from the cabin was long and unbearably silent. The Seer's words kept echoing in my mind, polluting my thoughts.
It wasn't enough that my destiny was tied to theirs—whatever that meant—but whatever bad happened to me would happen to them as well. It was strange. Why them? And why did it have to me?
I stared out the window, watching trees blur past, trying to make sense of everything.
I wasn't special…never had been. If anything, I was unlucky. So why did some ancient prophecy claim I was the key to the fate of an entire pack.
The silence stretched, almost suffocating.
"You really are an attention seeker, aren't you?" Rhydian's voice cut through the silence like a blade.
My brows furrowed, when I realized he was talking to me.
"What?"
"You'd do anything for attention, even make yourself a liability just to be in the center of it all," he deadpanned, his words harsh. "Pathetic."
