Chapter 35 - Rich

I looked at the card with the phone number after leaving Stark Industries.

It read... Ahem, "Come back when I give you the signal, okay, Kid Ghost Spider No. 2 Male Version."

And there was a chibi drawing of Tony with one eye winking and his tongue sticking out, along with the word Teehee!

Damn it...

I sighed, looking up at the sky.

"...welp, I hope the next few days will be peaceful because I don't want to deal with any more weird stuff."

"Hey!!"

A voice called out to me, making me turn to look.

Oh, none other than Bruce Banner.

"I forgot to give you this," Bruce handed me a stack of cash.

"...new employee benefits?"

"No, no, new superhero!" He patted my shoulder as if he was excited or happy for me.

"Uh... you seem cheerful?"

"Of course! The hero team founded by Mr. Stark only has four members, including me, you, and Mr. Stark, and out of all of them, you're the most normal!"

"...who's the fourth?"

"Moon Knight."

???

Wait, he actually joined Tony's Avengers??

"...where is he right now?"

"That, I don't know... But I'd guess he's out killing criminals. He started as a vigilante, but after being invited to the team, he can do it without being considered a criminal himself."

"...wait, is our team allowed to kill criminals?" I asked, my face paling a bit.

I don't like taking lives. If they're not human, I'd have no problem doing it, though.

"Depends. Small crimes, we capture them. Big crimes, killing's fine too. Basically, whether to spare or kill is up to you. Mr. Stark and Moon Knight always choose to kill. Me, it depends on the mood of... my other personality."

"..."

I hope the next member of this team isn't Ghost Rider, or it'll be bad news for criminals...

"Oh, forgot to introduce myself. I'm Bruce Banner, scientist. Nice to meet you!" He smiled and shook my hand.

"And I'm Peter Parker, your 'slightly' friendly neighborhood guy. Looking forward to working together."

"Pfft, 'slightly' friendly neighborhood? You're a funny one!"

I wasn't joking, though?

"Well, hope to see you again! I'm heading back to my work!" He waved and returned to Stark Industries.

I looked at the money he gave me and counted it.

"...wow, $100,000? These benefits are kinda dope."

Maybe... I should make a new suit for myself.

***

At Harry's mansion:

"I got discharged, and thankfully, nothing serious happened, so it didn't cost too much," Harry said to me.

"...Is that so?"

"Huh? Why do you look so down?"

"..."

Damn it, Uncle Ben and Aunt May, being old, have a lot of health issues and other expenses, and the healthcare insurance is absolute garbage, so half of my $100,000 is gone!

Now I'm left with about $60,000!

Like... what the hell?? $20,000 per person?? Is this a scam??

I was planning to use that money to improve their lives a little!

"Guess who?" Someone suddenly covered my eyes.

"Gwen."

"Ding ding! Correct! Your reward is a kiss!"

"No thanks."

"What?! Don't tell me you want... my body?"

"No."

Harry scratched his head, watching Gwen hug the exhausted me, and asked outright,

"So... when are we making the game?"

"Let's start now."

Then I plopped Gwen into a chair and told her to keep working on the character designs.

"Get to it, Gwen. The reward will be... uh... a hug?"

"Lift your shirt so I can see your pecs!"

"No."

And so, Gwen worked on the character designs at a terrifying speed.

And yeah... the characters she made looked exactly like the entities I encountered at school.

The last one she called "Arts and Crafters," which looked like a sock with two googly eyes.

"..."

Stay calm, Peter. Ben's gone...

If I had acted faster, I might've saved him...

...

"Done!"

"Huh? Oh... yeah."

After that, I dragged Harry into learning to code.

"How... how do you code this??" Harry asked, clearly confused.

"Dude, if you want to code an object that can be picked up, you just do this," I showed him a few things.

I know Harry's not great at this stuff, so I gave him the easiest tasks. After all, he's helped me enough already.

As for me? I'll handle everything else, like setting up enemies, maps, music, blah blah.

But I'm still a bit unsure...

"Where should we publish the game..."

We can't just post it on social media since it's going to be a paid game.

I don't want to deal with getting licenses from other gaming companies...

I wish there was a place to publish indie games...

...wait, I have an idea!

I pulled out Tony's card, looked at the phone number, and typed it into my phone.

I could convince him to create a website for publishing games!

"What's up, Spider Boi?" a voice answered from the other side.

"Uh, Mr. Stark, are you... interested in games?"

"Games? Why do you ask?"

"Well... my friends and I are making a game, but we don't want to publish it on other gaming companies' websites. Could you... uh... you know?"

"You want me to create a website for publishing games, don't you?"

"Yeah... would you do it?"

"Hmm... send me the game to try first."

"It's not finished yet."

"Then keep dreaming."

"No, no! I still have an old game. Would you accept that?"

"Whatever, I need to see if it's profitable or not first."

Oh, great, at least he's open to it.

After a bit, I successfully sent him my old game *Go to Bed*, and a few minutes later, he called back.

"The game's decent, but it's ridiculously short."

"It was a test project."

"Hmm... you want to publish games on a website where people can upload their games and make money from them, right?"

"Yup."

"Alright, give me a bit. Pray it's profitable for me, kid, or I'll scrap the whole thing."

"Oh, thank you!"

Then he hung up. I turned to Harry, who was struggling with coding errors.

Meanwhile, Gwen was spinning in her chair, apparently done.

"Ah, Peter! My reward!"

"Anything but—"

"I know! If you're not into that, why not give me a gift instead?"

Hmm, if that's what she wants...

"Wanna go shopping for clothes? I'll pay," I asked Gwen.

Gwen's face lit up with a huge smile.

"Super absolutely yes!"

***

"Jarvis, find me a random game studio and buy it for me right now."

[...]

"Alright, Honey, happy now?"

[If you talk like that, don't expect me to help you.]

Then Jarvis disappeared.

Tony sighed and sank into the sofa.

Jarvis was the name of the butler who served his father, but he passed away when Tony was a kid.

He named his AI Jarvis to honor him.

...Yet, instead of speaking with a male voice, his AI spoke with a female voice and acted like his wife!

And he doesn't even have a wife! But have alot of ex!

...Now that he thought about it, why did Jarvis act a bit like her?

She passed away a few months before Jarvis was created, and her way of speaking was somewhat similar to Jarvis...

Just a coincidence, right?

[Were you just thinking about some girl?]

"No way. So, what did you find?"

[I found a rather unique studio... They've created groundbreaking games with incredibly fun titles, but they've been suppressed by bigger game companies, so their fame and recognition are low. Now they're drowning in debt and at risk of bankruptcy.]

"Name?" Tony asked, slightly intrigued.

[Valve.]
