Chapter 38 - Trailer

"This is the Steam that Stark Industries invested in?! So many cool games!"

This is the streamer who streamed Go to Bed the other day.

After Stark Industries hyped it up with their marketing, he streamed and checked out this website.

And yeah, it didn't disappoint him.

"Half-Life 2 is freaking awesome! Wonder when Half-Life 3 is coming out?" (No.)

"Team Fortress 2 too! So much fun! Wonder when Team Fortress 3 is coming out?" (No.)

"Left 4 Dead 2 as well! Playing with friends is unbeatable! Wonder when Left 4 Dead 3 is coming out?" (No.)

Oh, poor little soul, he'll never get to experience Valve's number 3s.

[Find another game! I wanna see what else is there!]

[Dude, can't you check it out yourself?]

[I don't have a PC.]

[That's sad.]

"Calm down, viewers, let me check out all of Valve's games first. After all, this is the studio that made a ton of masterpieces no one remembers, so I gotta make their investment worth it!" he said confidently.

[Yeah, their games are really fun. I wanna download and try them.]

[Download? These are paid games, man.]

[What?! Aw man, do I have to sell my house to play?]

Huh, what did you say?

"Alright, everyone, let me check out the genres and see how many games Steam has!"

Since Steam was recently launched, the game library might not be huge, but it's more than enough. In the future, it'll probably get massive if you're patient.

"Whoa! Hentai games! Daisuki!"

[Dude, you trying to get banned?]

"Just kidding, but I'll still buy it… for research."

[Gooner.]

"Ahem… Let's just check out horror games!"

He went to the horror section, but sadly, this genre was pretty limited, summed up in just one page.

But it was also a stroke of luck because a game from Outer Park showed up right there.

"What the heck? What's this game with eye-straining graphics?"

He looked at the title: Baldi's Basics in Education and Learning, quite a long name.

"This game… $10?! That cheap?!"

Well, to be precise, it's cheaper than games from big companies, but the cheapest game he saw was $1.

Then he checked out the description and its graphics.

"…Hard to describe."

[An educational game?]

[Trying to blind me or what?]

He scratched his head and watched the trailer, deciding to dive in.

In the trailer, a guy with glasses was adjusting the camera.

"Is it on yet?" he said, fixing his glasses and looking closely.

"Oh… It's on," said another guy's voice.

"Oh… Well…"

He stepped back, grabbed a mic.

"Um, cut the scene, Harry!"

"What? Oh… Hold on."

The screen went black, and text appeared:

From the creator of Go to Bed

The sound of flipping notebook pages echoed, then the guy with glasses spoke into a mic so loud it was practically ear-rape.

"The name of this game is… uh, Baldi's Basics in Education and Balling."

"Oh wait, I meant Learning, my bad."

More page-flipping sounds, and the screen transitioned to the guy flipping through a notebook.

"Um, Peter? I think I messed up."

"Huh? Messed up how?"

"I recorded in camera mode again."

"What?! Let me see."

They fiddled around for a bit before finally switching scenes successfully.

"Interesting gameplay and… uh, more!"

The trailer showed the player meeting Baldi, who gives them a coin, then picking up a notebook and getting math questions wrong.

Then Baldi starts chasing.

"Massive characters!... Well, not that many."

The trailer cut to another scene, but instead of in-game characters, it showed Harry's face.

"Hmm, I think I look pretty handsome."

"Gross," a young girl's voice said.

Then it cut to Peter flipping through a notebook and reading.

"In this game, you play as a student who goes to school to collect 7 notebooks for your friend. Of course, Baldi will challenge you to see if you're worthy—"

"Peter! I got Doritos and Mountain Dew!" a girl walked in, placing a bottle on the table.

"Oh, thanks, but I'm recording a trailer."

"Can I join?"

"Join in my nuts—"

The trailer cut again, this time to Harry in an orange outfit.

"Alright, the gameplay is pretty tough if you don't know how to play. If you do, it's still pretty tough. And if you know the tricks, it's still pretty tough."

"What the heck are you talking about?!"

"What?! You said I could say anything!"

"Dude, I didn't mean repeat 'pretty tough' three times in one sentence!"

"Alright, fine! Actually, this game is pretty handsome, like my jawline, slayyy." He grabbed the camera, zoomed in on his jaw, and puckered his lips like some kind of rizzler.

Right after, he dropped the camera onto the PC.

"Oh f—"

The trailer cut again, this time to a blonde girl eating Doritos.

"I swear, this game is super fun and worth enjoying. You don't know how I speedran this game," Peter's voice said.

It seemed like the scene was supposed to show him, but it accidentally filmed her instead.

She grabbed a Dorito, crunched it loudly, drowning out Peter's voice.

Then she rummaged through the Doritos bag, making even more ear-rape noises.

"Wait, Gwen, is it filming the right way?"

"It is!" she said while eating, then looked closely at the camera.

"Wait, oh sh—"

Finally, it cut to Peter cleaning his glasses while Harry sat nearby, reading something.

"Dude, say something!" Peter nudged Harry with his elbow.

"Oh! Necesito hacer caca, dame el baño!" (Oh! Thanks for watching the whole trailer!)

"No creo que nadie tenga suficiente tiempo libre para traducir esto, ¿verdad?" (This trailer took about three days, pretty long, right?)

"Creo que soy lo suficientemente guapo para coquetear con una linda chica mexicana." (Thanks for watching, now go download the game!)

The end!

"…"

He glanced at the chat.

Everyone was speechless.

And after 3 seconds…

[GAHAHAHAHAHA!!!]

[WTF IS THIS SHIT?! YO LET'S PLAY THIS!!]

[I'VE NEVER LAUGHED THIS HARD!]

[This game cooking the trailer so good.]

[Peak trailer.]

Then it was just a flood of laughing emojis.

What about the streamer?

He bought the game right away!

"Usually, people make trailers to show off a game's strengths, but these guys showed off their sense of humor. I'm in!"

No need to say more—he was convinced this trailer was peak, absolutely flawless.

Even if the game itself isn't great, the trailer more than makes up for it.

Plus, these guys seem young, probably making games out of pure passion. Hard to believe they're the ones who made Go to Bed!

While waiting, he kept watching the trailer, chuckling lightly at first, then laughing non-stop.

"Ahh… Outer Park cooked up a seriously dope trailer."

The first impression for those who haven't played yet? Already amazing!
