Chapter 18 - Chapter Eighteen: Morgan's Assault on Arthur's Men

The Traveling Road to Shanea Forbidden Forest, 1509

As Arthur and his men journeyed toward the Shanea Forbidden Forest, they felt the weight of impending danger.

Arthur then asks Merlin, "Do you think Morgan knows about my daughter?"

Merlin's gaze darkened as he contemplated the implications of such knowledge. The tension in the air thickened, mirroring the unease among Arthur's men. They trusted their leader, but the threat of betrayal loomed large.

"If she does, we must act quickly," Merlin replied, a hint of urgency in his voice.

Arthur nodded, his mind racing with strategies to protect his family and kingdom. As they pressed on, the shadows of the Forbidden Forest beckoned, hiding secrets and dangers yet to be revealed. Their resolve strengthened, they prepared for whatever lay ahead.

"Where do you think we should start to look for my daughter, Merlin?" Arthur asked, his voice thickened, mirroring the unease among his men.

"First, we must find the ancient grove where the old spirits dwell," Merlin suggested, glancing nervously at the towering trees. "They may hold the key to her whereabouts, but be warned; the deeper we venture, the more perilous the journey will become."

Arthur nodded, steeling himself for the challenges ahead. "Then let us not waste a moment," he declared, rallying his men as they set forth into the shadowy depths of the forest, determined to uncover the truth.

Suddenly, a rustling from the underbrush caught their attention, and the air grew tense. Unknown figures emerged, their intentions unclear as they prepared to attack.

"Looks like we have some company," Arthur announced, scanning the dark surroundings.

With a swift motion, he drew his sword, the blade glinting in the dim light. "Stay alert, everyone! We must be ready for anything," he urged, his heart pounding as the figures drew closer, their menacing silhouettes becoming more defined against the thickening gloom.

Merlin and the knights drew their swords, ready for battle.

As the mercenaries closed in, Arthur's voice rang out, "Who are you, and what do you want?"

One of the mercenaries stepped forward, sneering, "We are sent here by your sister Morgan." The tension thickened, and the knights exchanged wary glances, unsure of what would come next.

Arthur then says, "What does my dear sister Morgan want?"

Morgan steps forward and says, "I'm here to capture you and prevent you from getting to your daughter, my dear brother."

Arthur's eyes narrowed as he processed her words. "How do you know about my daughter, Morgan?"

A sly smile crept across Morgan's face as she replied, "I have my ways, brother. Information travels fast in our world, especially when it concerns family."

The air crackled with tension as Arthur's resolve hardened; he was determined to get to his daughter at all costs.

"You're not going to get to my daughter before I do," Arthur declared, his voice steady and fierce.

Morgan raised an eyebrow, clearly amused by her brother's bravado. "You underestimate me, Arthur. I have plans in motion that you can't even begin to imagine."

Arthur clenched his fists, refusing to let her taunts rattle him. "Whatever you think you've orchestrated, I'll find a way to disrupt it. My daughter is my priority."

"Even though you never knew she even existed," Morgan continued, her smile widening. "That won't stop me from getting what I want."

Arthur's determination only intensified as he met her gaze with unwavering resolve. "You may think you have the upper hand, but I won't let you harm her, no matter the cost."

The tension between them crackled like electricity, each sibling locked in a battle of wills. "I will protect her from your twisted schemes," he vowed, bracing himself for whatever Morgan had planned.

Morgan chuckled softly, a chilling sound that sent a shiver down Arthur's spine. "You underestimate me, brother," she replied, her eyes glinting with mischief. "But I admire your courage; it will make the game all the more entertaining."

As she stepped closer, the air thickened with unspoken threats. Arthur clenched his fists, determined not to show any sign of fear, knowing that the stakes had never been higher.

Morgan's voice sliced through the tension as she commanded the mercenaries to attack. "Now, my loyal followers, unleash chaos upon Arthur, Merlin, and the knights!"

The mercenaries moved with a ruthless efficiency, weapons at the ready, their eyes gleaming with a hunger for battle.

Arthur stood firm, rallying his knights around him, their resolve unshaken despite the odds stacked against them.

Merlin whispered ancient incantations, preparing spells to counter the impending assault.

The clash of steel echoed in the air, a cacophony of loyalty and betrayal. With each strike, the outcome of the fight hung precariously in the balance, as Arthur fought not just for his life but for the fate of his kingdom and daughter.

As the first rays of dawn broke through the clouds, illuminating the battlefield with a golden hue, Arthur felt a surge of determination course through him.

He raised Excalibur high, its blade glinting in the light, and let out a rallying cry that ignited the spirits of his men, urging them forward into the fray with renewed vigor.

In an instant, Morgan unleashed her magic, knocking out Arthur, Merlin, and the knights unconscious.

The mercenary approached Morgan, his brow furrowed in confusion. "What do we do now?" he asked, glancing back at the fallen warriors.

Morgan smirked, her eyes gleaming with mischief as she surveyed the battlefield. "Now," she said, her voice dripping with confidence, "we will take Arthur and his men back to our camp and begin the next phase of our plan."

The mercenary nodded, a mix of excitement and apprehension in his expression. As they began to tie up the unconscious knights, Morgan's mind raced with possibilities, her ambitions growing bolder with each passing moment.

With each knot tied, she envisioned the power shift that would follow their capture.

The sun dipped lower in the sky, creating long shadows that covered the clearing as her thoughts turned to the allies she would need to solidify her position. If all went according to plan, this could be the turning point she had been waiting for, a chance to seize control and reshape their world.

Then they make their way back to their base camp to begin the next phase of their plan.
