I hurried to answer the door. Rane stood on the other side looking dapper in a black suit and dark blue tie.
"Wow," he said, his expression one of appreciation. "You look gorgeous, Cassie."
"Thank you," I said, my cheeks warming at his compliment. "You look very handsome."
He extended a bouquet of red roses. "These are for you."
I took the flowers and buried my nose into their sweet fragrance. "Thank you so much," I said, pleased that he'd been so thoughtful. "Where are your brothers?"
"They'll be here soon," he said.
"Come in." I moved out of the way so that Rane could step inside the house. He took off his hat, and I pointed to the hall tree by the staircase. "You can hang your hat there if you'd like."
"Thanks," he said. He hung up his hat and turned to look at me.
"Go with me into the kitchen," I said. "I'll put these into a vase."
