"Fate likes to play with people as if they were toys in a sadistic, cruel, and horror-filled game. But what happens when the toy rebels against the fate given to it? I tell you, what the gods fear most happens: death." Godwyn, The Golden.
--------------
The next day, Godwyn went downstairs and saw Luke, Thalia, and Annabeth eating food found in the house. Most of it was canned food with some crispy crackers with a suspicious expiration date. But then again, nothing a demigod's stomach couldn't handle.
"Good morning." Godwyn greeted everyone as he sat next to Thalia.
"Good morning, children." Mimir, attached to Godwyn's belt, also spoke in a gentle tone to the three demigods eating cans of beans. Everyone returned the greeting as they ate.
Thalia swallowed the spicy beans and said with a sarcastic tone, "Good morning, sleeping beauty. Why don't you sleep a few more hours? We can wait a little longer."
"Sleep is an enemy I don't wish to fight." Godwyn replied with a smile, he picked up a can of stuck beans from the table and ate them with relish. He hated waking up early, he fought with his bed every day and usually lost the battle!
Suddenly, he noticed a pair of eyes looking at him discreetly. Looking to the side, Godwyn saw Annabeth looking at him with obvious admiration in her gaze. He didn't know the reason for the girl's admiration, but he didn't ask either.
"The night was quieter than expected." Luke said, also eating a can of beans. "This is very suspicious, especially with four demigods together."
Luke's words made the light and warm morning atmosphere tense in an instant.
"That means something more powerful is coming." Godwyn said in a calm tone, his eyes gleamed for a moment, wondering which mythological monster would reach them.
A solemn look appeared on Luke and Thalia's faces, even little Annabeth, who didn't know many monsters, realized that things wouldn't be so simple. Especially noticing her friends' expressions.
"It will be a bloody path to Camp Half-Blood." Godwyn finished eating and spoke. "We need to be careful and not separate during the fight. If that happens, we'll be attacked one by one."
Thalia and Luke agreed with Godwyn's approach; separating in front of a horde of monsters is asking to go to the Underworld early. Something no one definitely wanted.
"Let's go." Thalia said, throwing the can of beans in the trash, she stood up and looked at everyone with a solemn gaze. Luke and Annabeth nodded and stood up too, ready to kill any monster that dared to cross their path.
Godwyn also finished eating and followed the three demigods out of the house.
Looking at the house behind him, he felt that perhaps this was the last safe haven they would have on this journey.
Midday later.
"Run!" Luke shouted as he appeared on top of a huge black dog with red eyes. He plunged his sword, Backbiter, into the monster's brain, turning it into golden sand.
Behind him, a dozen Hellhounds ran after him and all the other demigods. The creatures' red eyes stared at Thalia in particular with a fierce and greedy look.
Godwyn couldn't help but complain that Hades wasn't kidding and sent a horde of monsters after his brother's daughter. However, if his wife, sons, and daughter were attacked, he might do even worse. He would come personally to resolve the issue, after all, Zeus personally attacked Hades' family.
Suddenly, Godwyn saw a shadow much larger than the Hellhounds approaching rapidly. In a quick glance, he saw a huge serpent. Twice as big as a bus. It was two meters wide and was a true colossus.
"Python!!!" Seeing Gaia's daughter, Godwyn knew that Hera had joined the hunt against Thalia.
"Luke, take Annabeth and get away." Godwyn shouted to Luke, who didn't hesitate to pick up little Annabeth in his arms and quickly move away from the spot. He looked back and swore he would never forget the scene he saw. The same happened with Annabeth and Thalia.
Stopping running, Godwyn ignored the Hellhounds and focused entirely on the serpent that fought Apollo in the past. Red lightning surrounded the demigod's figure as his body floated in the air while gigantic red lightning spears appeared in his respective hands.
"Ansuz." Godwyn, who looked more like Zeus's son than Thalia, murmured as he threw both spears towards Python.
The surroundings were ravaged by the smaller lightning bolts from the two spears, making the scene even more devastating and impressive.
The Son of Gaia could feel the danger and tried to dodge with his serpentine body, but how could he be faster than lightning? The two red lightning spears hit the target!
The spears pierced the huge serpent's body, pinning it to the ground as it thrashed painfully, feeling its flesh, blood, and even its soul burn under the red lightning.
Godwyn was an expert in Norse Runes; he combined the runes of Thunder, Fire, and Soul to create his personal version of the Ansuz Rune! What was already destructive became a true monster-destroying weapon.
The golden ring on Godwyn's finger transformed into a long golden spear with thousands of runes carved into the golden metal. The demigod ran extremely fast and the distance of fifty meters was covered in three seconds.
With a quick jump, Godwyn spun in the air and threw his spear, Draupnir, directly into the serpent's eye. Another spear exactly like it appeared in Godwyn's hand. A spear he threw into the serpent's other eye.
RHUAAARRRGG!!!
A roar similar to a dragon's sounded from the serpent's mouth as two golden spears pierced its eyes. Golden blood spread throughout the surroundings as the serpent thrashed violently, sweeping everything in front of it with its huge body.
Showing a calm look, Godwyn landed on the serpent's head and stepped forcefully against the scales harder than steel.
"Explode." Activating the wind runes of the Draupnir spear, the spears that had pierced Python's eyes exploded!!!
Blood and pieces of flesh flew everywhere as the terrible serpent didn't even have a chance to attack with the terrible venom of divine monstrosity.
Godwyn moved away and calmly looked at his masterpiece. Python was definitely a difficult opponent, but the serpent found him, someone who had already fought a dragon devouring the roots of Yggdrasil.
He already had all the weapons ready to fight dragons, and Python was a type of dragon, even if it was more of a serpent than a dragon. With such means, he really didn't find it difficult to kill the legendary serpent that hunted the Goddess Leto, who was pregnant with Apollo and Artemis.
Godwyn's golden eyes watched as the serpent was transformed into golden sand and disappeared with the wind. In place of the huge body, a tooth the size of a dagger could be seen on the ground.
"This will be useful, the dwarf brothers owe me a favor..." Godwyn murmured as he put the tooth in the horn on his waist.
Looking to the side, Godwyn saw Thalia finishing off all the Hellhounds. Luke had put Annabeth on the ground and sat down, breathing heavily. Obviously, the continuous fights were already exhausting him.
"Godwyn, you were amazing!" Annabeth looked at Godwyn with a look she gave her favorite superhero. Even the fear in her mind disappeared at that moment. She would truly never forget the short but extremely impactful scene of Godwyn's battle and the huge serpent.
Godwyn smiled and gently caressed the girl's hair, he knew the girl was scared and was just hiding her feelings. "You can become just as powerful in the future, just train hard." He had no doubt that Annabeth could become an extremely powerful demigod.
Annabeth's eyes widened and she looked at Godwyn with an incredulous gaze. In her short life, not even her father had so much confidence in her. But Godwyn, someone she had known for less than three days, had more confidence in her than she herself had.
Feeling a sweet and warm feeling on her head, Annabeth felt that if she had an older brother like Godwyn, she wouldn't have run away from home.
"Come on, we can't stay still for too long." Thalia said with a nervous tone. The previous fight really scared her, especially the huge serpent. She estimated that even if she killed the serpent, she would be seriously injured, if not dead.
She could imagine if Godwyn hadn't been present, she and Luke would probably be injured and Annabeth would have to take care of them. Which would be a terrible situation.
Everyone agreed with Thalia's words; it was really dangerous to stay in the same place for too long. Luke, who was still tired, forced himself to stand up and followed the group with a solemn expression.
Reaching Camp Half-Blood seemed to be an extremely difficult goal.
"I hope everything works out." Luke murmured, but there was a persistent bad feeling in his mind.
