Morningside Heights, Manhattan
The black mini limo came to a gentle stop just outside their house. Jake stepped out first, dropping his headset down over his neck. Jane followed, hoodie tossed over one shoulder, adjusting her backpack straps. Carl and Carly stumbled out last, each holding a can of Pringles.
"Thanks for the ride," Jane said politely, tossing a half-smile back at Teddy.
"Yeah, really really really…appreciate it!" Carl added, crumbs already on his shirt.
Carly raised her can. "Big ups. Sweet ride."
Jake didn't say a word, just gave a soft nod with a rare, sideways smile. Teddy saw it, and immediately had to look away, hiding a grin as her cheeks slightly flushed. She cleared her throat quickly before anyone noticed.
"Ahem...Nice place you got here," she commented, looking over the house.
"Oh. Thank you," Jane replied with a faint smile.
Teddy leaned out the window a little, waving as the limo began to pull away. "I would surely like to come over someday!"
