From his seat behind a sleek desk, Anderson seemed like a man watching over his own personal kingdom.
Anderson leaned back, rolling a single black die across the desk's polished surface. The soft clack echoed faintly in the still air until the die stopped—six pips. His lips curved into a faint chuckle.
"Ahh," he murmured, almost to himself, "everything goes according to my plan these days."
A sharp knock at the door interrupted his moment. Without looking up, Anderson pressed the green button on the small communicator embedded into his desk.
"It's Dr. Kurt," came a weary voice through the speaker. "I have information I'd like to share with you."
"Mm. Come on in."
Anderson's other hand tapped a second button, releasing the lock with a soft click. The door slid open, revealing a tall, thin man in a lab coat. His face was pale, eyes sunken with exhaustion.
Dr. Kurt stepped forward until he stood opposite Anderson's desk.
