Carly didn't even hesitate. The moment the boy passed them in the hallway, she reached out, yanked him back by the shoulder, and spun him around. Her fingers hooked his collar before he could even register what was happening.
It was one of their juniors.
"You were there, weren't you?" Her tone was sharp, her eyes narrowing into a glare.
The commotion drew the others' attention. Jake, Jane, and Carl turned, and closed the distance quickly.
The boy blinked rapidly, looking utterly baffled. "W–what? What are you talking about?"
"Don't play dumb with me, you—" Carly started, voice rising.
"What's going on?" Jane's voice cut in through the tension.
Carly didn't break eye contact with the boy. "He's the one I told you guys about, yesterday."
Jake stepped in, his tone even but firm. "Would you at least let him talk without gripping his collar like that?"
