Jane was the only one who noticed the exchange between Ms. Michelle and Jake. Before she could say anything, Mr. Seraph spoke up.
"These Riftborns are way more than you think," Mr. Seraph explained. "They're—"
"Another dream?" Ms. Michelle cut in, her voice flat, as if she already knew the answer.
"Yes," Mr. Seraph nodded before continuing. "They attack just like monsters in movies—claws like sharp fingernails, and... all that sort of thing."
Jake, however, wasn't really listening. His eyes were fixed on Michelle, who was now scrolling through her phone. Something was odd about her and what she explains, or was it just him overreacting? He couldn't quite tell. But it was already clear that she and Seraph were hiding things from each other.
