Theo glanced at his wristwatch, tapping the face. "Guess my driver's waiting outside. Gotta dip, guys."
"Your driver?" Carly blinked. "As in, like… a personal driver?"
"Yeah." He grinned like it was no big deal and jogged toward the exit.
A sudden Merge Pulse hit them all.
"Ahhh, come on," Carl groaned, clutching his ears as the invisible force rattled the walls. Everyone flinched, covering their heads. Theo, mid-step, fell to the ground. Mr. Seraph staggered, falling to a crouch with veins bulging on his neck, clutching his head and groaning. He seemed to feel it the most.
Then, it just instantly ended.
Breathing hard, still crouched, Mr. Seraph looked more shaken—sweat trailing down his brow. Jane and Carl rushed over while Carly knelt beside him.
"You good?" Carly asked, eyes narrowed in concern.
"Yeah... Yeah, I'm fine." Seraph exhaled shakily and stood.
"I'm suing this stupid universe," a sharp, annoyed female voice snapped.
