Chapter 23 - Chapter 3

That night wasn't a full moon, so Joseph didn't change into a werewolf. Megan then checked on him because she knew he was still hurting and saw him fast asleep. While Megan was there, she saw a bright white light, so she covered her eyes because it was so shiny. Megan looked at the source of the light and saw that it was Joseph's necklace. Megan videotaped what she saw on her phone. Megan then heard Joseph laugh in his sleep, but then his necklace started to turn black, and he began to whine. Megan then left Joseph's room and sent the video to Kayla and Kendal. Megan said, "And send."

That night, Megan videochatted with Kayla and Kendal on her computer, and they spoke about the video she had recorded. Kayla said, "He's still a high howler. Remember?" Kendal said, "But tonight wasn't a full moon, so he didn't change." Megan said, "Yes. So, why the glow if he wasn't changing?" Kayla said, "Simple. Take a look at the video, and you'll see that he's laughing right after his jewel glowed white, so he must be dreaming. And if you look further into the video, you'll see he's whining right after his jewel turned black, so he must be having a nightmare. What's he doing now?" Megan said, "He's asleep. And you can bet he won't sneak out. Because you said it yourself, tonight's not a full moon, so his jewel won't change him." Kendal said, "True." Kayla and Kendal then hung up, and Megan went to bed.

The narrator said, "Meanwhile, Joseph was still dreaming. His jewel then glowed black, and his nightmare continued." He had a dream about a memory from his past. As little kids, Joseph was best friends with a girl named "Amber". Joseph and Amber were at camp, sitting around a campfire, cooking s'mores while singing with the other campers. During breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Joseph couldn't take his eyes off Amber, except while he was eating, and Amber noticed. Spending the days together, Joseph and Amber went swimming, did archery, zipling, and horseback riding together. Joseph then remembered returning home with his bag of arts and crafts, and he only saw Amber at camp over the years. Joseph then fell through a hole that had magically appeared in his dream, and he turned back to the age he is now, rather than the age he was then. He then transformed into a werewolf, and Amber found him in that form. Even though he was in werewolf form, Joseph could still talk in his human voice for some reason. Joseph hugged Amber and said, "Oh, Amber, it's great to see you." Amber then pushed Joseph off of her and said, "Yes, unfortunately, I can't say the same for you." Joseph said, "What's this?" Amber pulled a lever, and Joseph dropped into a pile of silver, killing him. The actual Joseph started to talk in his sleep. When Megan heard Joseph, she checked on him and saw that his necklace had begun to turn dark green. Megan whispered, "His dream. It's going to wake him up."

The narrator said, "Just as Megan predicted, Joseph's nightmare woke him up, and his amulet turned green again." Megan then put her hand on Joseph and said, "Relax, it was just a nightmare." Joseph said, "How long have you been in here?" Megan said, "Ten minutes. I heard you whining and came as fast as I could. Your amulet turned white, black, and dark green while you were dreaming." Joseph said, "Oh, and you could tell by the colors on my jewel what kind of dream it was." Megan said, "And that you were about to be scared awake. Now, try to be calm and go back to sleep. I'm going to do the same and head back to bed. Goodnight, bro." Joseph said, "Goodnight, sis."

Megan said, "Oh, wait. In your sleep, you were shouting 'Amber! Amber!' Who's Amber?" Joseph rubbed the back of his neck and said, "Oh, she's a girl I once knew at camp as a kid. We were best friends, but once camp ended, we moved on with our lives and lost touch with each other over the years. I have Franco as my best friend now, but Amber and I haven't seen each other in like twenty years." Megan said, "Whatever happened to her?" Joseph said, "I don't know. I guess like me, she grew up and found herself a new best friend." Megan said, "Well, maybe you'll meet again someday soon." Joseph said, "Yeah, someday soon. Goodnight." Megan said, "Goodnight."

The narrator said, "After having their discussion, Megan and Joseph went back to bed. The next day, Joseph started to feel better, so he went into town and met up with Franco by the fountain. Once they met up, Joseph took Franco up on the proposition he had for him the previous day." Joseph and Franco both activated their Duel Disks, put their decks into them, and started to duel. While they were doing so, Megan walked by the town fountain with her groceries and saw Joseph having fun with Franco again. Megan said, "I'm proud of you." Megan then went home with her groceries.

Meanwhile, in a house down the street, a man related to Amber from Joseph's dream got a phone call." The man said, "Hello." Amber on the other line said, "I've arrived at the airport. I'll be heading over as soon as I leave North Dakota and land in Transylvania." The man said, "Looking forward to your arrival." The man then hung up, and so did Amber.

Amber put her belongings on the baggage claim carousel, and the flight personnel loaded them onto the plane. Amber then got on the plane herself and headed for Transylvania. The narrator said, "Once Amber had arrived at the airport in Transylvania, she retrieved her things from the baggage claim carousel and moved them all to her parents' house since she was moving in with them." Once she was there, Amber unloaded her things and then went to see her parents. When she did, she found her parents in their basement, which was like their evil lair. Amber said, "Oh, you are so right, Mom and Dad, monsters are the worst." Amber's parents, Wendy and Gary, then emerged from the shadows. Gary said, "They're horrible."

The narrator said, "Amber and her parents then had a conversation." Wendy said, "The vampires? Are you sure they're in town?" Amber said, "Positive. I checked my monster detector the moment I arrived in town, and it indicated that there were many monsters present. Now let me get rid of them." Amber swung her arms and legs out like she was ready to fight and said, "I'll take them down." Gary said, "No, no. We need to wait until the next full moon. Then the werewolves will come out, and our plan will come into action." Wendy said, "Now, promise us you won't try to look for monsters." Amber crossed her arms and got mad because she didn't like it. Amber said, "Fine. I promise." Gary said, "You promise what?" Amber said, "Huh. I promise I won't try to find monsters until the next full moon." Wendy said, "Good." Gary and Wendy left their basement, leaving Amber down there. Amber said, "Don't worry, Mom and Dad, I won't try to find monsters..." Amber put on an evil smirk and said, "I will find monsters." Amber then laughed evilly and went upstairs herself.
