He quickly marched out of the room aggravated at whoever ignored him.
"Hello!?" He said standing out of his office looking side to side.
"Arg, these people." He walked out of the room and continued down the hallway that I came from.
I was hiding behind a futuristic square trash bin, holding my mouth so that he wouldn't find or hear me.
Once I was sure he was far enough down the hall not to notice me, I quickly got up and ran into his office. I quietly shut his door and locked it just in case he came back… though, there were no windows, so I don't know what my plan here was.
I let out a deep breath as I held my chest. I was shaking violently, but I had to focus.
I went over to his computer and sat down in the chair. I didn't even have a chance to react before the camera on the computer started scanning me.
Oh no, I just fumbled this so hard-
[Lydia Hunter]
[Ding, ding, ding] My heart was racing.
[Accepted] Looks like they haven't removed me from the system yet…
"FEW" I wiped the sweat off my forehead and quickly started searching for any relevant information.
I'd never seen the OS this system was using, but if I was to guess, it was probably something from Lunar.
I found the storage manager and started looking up anything I could think of.

Sorry what?? How much information did they need on him?
I scrolled through the endless amount of files before I found one that looked interesting.
(Yuri – Subject 1C - Personal Documentation 1.txt)
I found it surprising that it was just an ordinary text file, but it looked like it was a log or diary of some sort as there were at least 20 of them. I double clicked the first one and after a few seconds a file window popped up.
(Subject 1C: Yuri Kozlova) The first sentence threw me off. Was this even the Yuri I knew? He said his last name was Orlov, not Kozlova?
I continued reading regardless.
(Subject 1C: Yuri Kozlova
Today, we received three new test subjects. I am very optimistic about this, but, there is a slight chance they have what it takes to get through the tests unlike the last two iterations. I believe there may be a new mutation that we have never seen the likes of in them, but they did cost us a fortune. If this does not work out, I will lose the company, but I had to take the risk. In no world am I letting those greedy bastards at Nexus Laboratory get a hold of this opportunity.
7 May 2062)
After reading this, my first thought was about Nexus… who are they? Based on this log, it seems they were also interested in Yuri, and may have been similar to Lunar…
I also noticed that the date said 2062, which I shouldn't be surprised that this world is so far into the future, but also, I'd think they'd be much further than that… I checked the time on the PC and it was currently the year 2068. I could probably calculate the time this apocalypse started, but I don't have time right now.
After these thoughts, I reread the beginning and realized that there were three subjects, and if Yuri is 1C, who else is there?
I closed the entry and started searching again.

(1143 Results found for "Subject")
At first it looked like a lot of results, but then I realized that there were a ton of subject status reports.
(2B - Subject Status Report 3.pdf)
I double clicked the file and the first two sentences were horrifying.
(Subject 2B: Deceased
Cause of Death – Mutilated)
I quickly scrolled through to learn that the subject had died during a failed attempt to merge an alien species with them, which ended up with the alien killing the person.
The saddest part of the document was that there was no mention of anything pertaining to the person at all. Not their age, gender, or even their name. It was just another number to them… 2B.
I closed the file and started searching through his drawers. I was running out of time, and needed to find something like a USB drive to grab a bunch of these documents and leave.
I finally found one in the back of the drawer and plugged it in. To my surprise, there was already a ton of the documents I would need inside of it. So, I just quickly dragged as much stuff into the drive that wasn't already there and may be useful later.
(Suspicious Activity Detected)
The computer had started to lock down, and every application that was open immediately closed… I wasn't sure the contents of the drive were still there, but I had no choice but to hastily unplug it and run toward the door.
I grabbed the door knob and tried to open it, but it wouldn't budge… I tried to unlock it, but there was a security lock keeping it closed.
My heart started racing, there wasn't much time left before someone came in. There was no alarm sounding, but I knew they were smart enough to have a silent alert so that intruders wouldn't know they were already found out.
I tried to open it again, but it wouldn't budge. I was about to slam my body into the door to break it, but right when I was about to, I heard steps coming closer to the door. They were walking fast.
I quickly looked around the room but there was no where to go, there was no window, and the only furniture in the room was the desk and a bookshelf.
Click!
The door quickly flung open as he stood there glancing around the room.
"Hello?"
He ran over to his desk and started clicking on something.
"What were they doing?" He mumbled under his breath.
After relentless clicking, it seemed he was unable to figure out what I had been doing as he then smashed his fist onto his desk, causing a picture to fall right off in front of me. I had managed to hide under the desk, but because the picture fell, when he reaches to get it, he'll definitely notice me.
I glanced over at the picture and noticed something… it was Lydia, him, someone else, and what looked like an older couple behind them. No wonder he caught on that I wasn't Lydia so fast! It's because-
"Dang it." He said as he reached down to grab it.
As he reached down, his face was so close to mine… there was no way he wasn't going to notice me. I had to think fast, as there was no other way to get out. The desk had a wall on the back of it preventing me from backing up.
Right when his hand got to the picture, he froze, he had noticed me.
