Chapter 21 - chapter 19: the wild

On a cool day, if someone were flying over Vermilion Forest and spotted a young man in his early twenties or late teens, walking down a path with a Chimchar perched on his shoulder, and another Chimchar in front of him, they would notice something strange. If they focused on their shadows, they would see a Dreepy hiding in it. (Scene shift)

Alright, guys, according to this map, there are five areas east of the forest. These areas are mostly made up of lakes and streams, with lots of water-type Pokémon living there. The main population is Magikarp and Gyarados.

West of the forest, there are trees and shrubs, with little else. Mostly, it's made up of large varieties of bug-type Pokémon. South of the forest, there are large hills and valleys, with lots of flying-type Pokémon living there. North of the forest, there's swampy land, with grass and water-type Pokémon around the Veridian Forest. If they leave or get kicked out of the forest, there's also a population of poison-type Pokémon there.

The center of the forest is a large rocky valley with deep caves, where lots of rock and ground-type Pokémon live. This area is mostly controlled by a population of Nidoking and Nidoqueen, who are the rulers of that area. They reportedly clash with the east side of the forest.

I say that we go to the west side of the forest to get Chimchar some experience. Then, after he evolves, we head to the south to get practice against flying enemies. Finally, we head north to finish the last few days of training there and stay away from the west and center of the forest, where we're not ready. They have every advantage against us.

Alright, team, let's get this started! Haha, with that, I stand up, tucking the map in my pocket. I grab my cane and start walking with Chimchar. While we're walking, I want you to keep up with your training. Try to keep a flame lit in the palm of your hand for as long as you can. Dreepy, stay alert and get ready. Pokémon out here have no problem sneaking attacking us. Ditto, stay on my shoulder and get ready to defend as we walk. I hold out my hand and try to form a ball of perfectly smooth energy in my palm. Energy swirls in my palm to form a ball. I manage to form a Sha!Key shape before dispersing. Tsk, over the next few hours as we walk, the sound of dispersing energy and the crackling fire of a fire. I try to form a ball of aura in my hand. I see the grass in the corner of my eye rustle. I quickly draw my sword as a rattata jumps at my face. I slice down, cutting its head off. Another rattata jumps at me, but Chimchar slams a fire punch on its head. I eye the rustling of grass. Watch out, looks like there are a dozen or two. I drip as the rattata charges.

I slam one on the head with a dragon tail. As Ditto transforms into Chimchar, it fights back to back with Chimchar. I jump to the side and swing, leaving a nasty gash on a rattata's side. Time flies quickly as we fall into the rhythm of battle. Before long, Dreepy finishes the last one. Anyone hurt? They shake their heads to show they're fine. Good. I flick the blood of my blade and sheath it in my cane. Good job. Let's go. ———————————————————
