Chapter 1 - The Prologue

They say a prophecy cannot be broken—only delayed. Centuries may pass, kingdoms may fall, but destiny always finds a way to collect its due.

And so begins the tale you're about to read.

Let me guess... You're curled up in bed right now, phone in hand, maybe half-dressed, with a guilty stash of midnight snacks by your side.

Laughs wickedly, Nailed it, didn't I?

Well then, welcome, sweeties.

But a word of warning: prophecies are no mere words. They are ancient decrees—etched into fate itself. And when they begin to manifest, blood follows.

Read carefully.

Because once a prophecy awakens, it drags everyone into its grip.

Even you.

"No, please, have mercy, my lord!" Lorraine begged, her voice cracking with desperation.

She grasped the king's robes, her fingers clenched in a silent plea. The king's expression remained unmoved; his eyes were cold as he gazed at the infant in Lorraine's arms. The baby's tiny chest rose and fell with rapid breath, and his small fists clenched tightly. What made the child stand out was his sparkling golden eyes. The eyes of a Castro god, they called it.

"Please," Lorraine continued, her words above a whisper. "I've been barren for years, and now that the heavens have blessed us with a child... you speak of the prophecy?" Her voice broke as she glanced at her baby, who was about to be killed.

The king's gaze lingered on the infant's deformities, his twisted limbs, his bulging eyes, and his skin that was decorated with strange, colorful markings. Lorraine's heart sank as she saw the confusion in king's eyes, but she could still see a hint of love and longing to hold onto the child.

Outside the palace, a loud cry erupted from the people demanding the infant's death.

"Kill The Sinister!"

They protested, brandishing sticks and torches. The people remembered the prophecies that were foretold centuries ago, and when they realized the king's son was deformed just like how it was foretold, they knew the prophecy was about to manifest. They had to persuade him to kill the prince in order to avoid the great consequences or bring the evil prophecy to life.

The king's confusion deepened as he looked toward the seer.

"You know what to do, King Loban," the seer said, his voice low and mysterious. "The prophecy has been foretold, and this child is its fulfillment. Remember, you cannot destroy it, but can only delay it. Listen to the cry of the people," he warned the king before walking away . His steps leave a mysterious atmosphere.

The king's eyes met Lorraine's, and he saw the desperation and fear etched on her face. He felt pain and compassion, but the seer's words echoed in his mind. He did not know who to choose: either his wife, the people, or his son that was lying peacefully in his mother's arms. Even with his deformities, the king and queen still cherished him .

"I will take responsibility," Lorraine said, her voice firm. "Please don't kill Rwaine."

The king's heart softened at the name Rwaine, the name they had promised to give their first child. The Queen had been barren for years, but her prayers and sacrifices were finally accepted, and the heavens gave her a child, not just any child but a prince with the eyes of the Castro god.

King Loban knelt beside Lorraine, his voice barely above a whisper.

"We'll keep him," he said, assuring Lorraine he was ready for the consequence and ready to protect their child, even if it meant going against the people or whatever the seers might have foreseen.

As they both held their child, King Loban and Lorraine shared a moment of defiance against the prophecy and the demands of the people. They finally agreed on keeping Rwaine.

Later, the king emerged with the lifeless and bloody body of a child and showed it to the people, assuring them Rwaine was killed.

"The Sinister is dead," he declared, his voice heavy with the weight of his decision.

A huge silence fell on the people. They knew it was not an easy decision to make. To kill a child with his own hands, the king must have been traumatized, but the people only cared about themselves and the prophecy not coming to pass. The people cheered, believing the king words but they were all a victim of deception.

Lorraine and King Loban decided to entrust the life of their child into the hands of a trusted Eunuch, and they sneaked out of the palace when it was midnight, far into the mountains on a rainy night.

They saw a cave and placed Rwaine in there with the eunuch and prepared to leave before anyone found them.

As Lorraine prepared to leave Rwaine, he grasped her hair, as if sensing her departure, and with his little strength he dragged out the little hairpin in her hair and held onto it without anyone knowing . Lorraine whispered a final plea to the eunuch.

"Please take care of him." She said before Loban guided her out of the cave. They left without looking back, knowing they would never see him again, as he was proclaimed dead forever.

The prophecy must never be fulfilled
