Daniel had his shift in the library.
Emma pushed her laptop in front of him and said, "I did it. I finished the survey questions."
The man pulled back the chair to sit down beside him. Lowering his head, he solemnly went through the questions on the screen.
Although Emma remained calm on the outside, her dark eyes stared at him in anticipation, waiting for his approval.
Daniel went through the content and nodded. "Good. This will work."
The corner of Emma's lips involuntarily lifted. "Then, I will hand out the surveys?"
"You can do that. Thank you for the hard work," Daniel politely said.
Emma cleared her throat. "Well, you can ask me if you need any help regarding writing the paper. I did a lot of research, and that's why, I know a lot."
Daniel noticed Emma's little habit of showing off and commented, "I understand. There is a quiz on the course next week. Are you prepared?"
Emma's eyes widened slightly. "Quiz?"
She heard it being mentioned in the class, but neither did she have the lecture notes or any information on which topics the quiz was on.
"You can borrow my notes," Daniel stated, noticing how her helpless eyes stared at him.
Emma tilted her head.
"Why would you help me?" she muttered.
Nonetheless, Emma nodded. "I will pay you for your notes then. How much will you charge?"
She couldn't take his help without doing anything in return. Already, she had troubled him enough, and Emma knew even a little bit of money would solve a lot of Daniel's problems.
Contrary to what she expected, all the signs of friendliness on Daniel's face disappeared, and his expression hardened.
He asked, "You have a lot of money, right?"
Emma was taken aback, but she nodded. "Well, not to brag, but I have enough."
"What about 100,000 then? It shouldn't be a lot for you," Daniel voiced out.
Although paying a hundred thousand for some notes seemed to be too much for even Emma, she wouldn't deny Daniel of anything he asked for.
"It's deal. I will transfer the amount to your account," Emma solemnly said.
Daniel pushed the chair back and stood up. Lifting the book on the table, he lightly hit her on the head and expressed, "I haven't touched rock bottom yet that I have to resort to selling my notes."
Emma rubbed her head as Daniel turned his back on her, walking away.
Did she act out of line again?
Emma immediately stood up and rushed after him.
"Daniel, I do think you should put a cost on your notes. They are your hard work after all. Did I say anything to offend you again?" Emma cluelessly voiced out.
Daniel shot her a glance. "I am working here. Don't disturb me."
Emma scrunched up nose.
"Why are you sensitive all the time?"
Daniel's eyes narrowed at her, and she immediately zipped her mouth.

Emma was in the cafeteria, chatting with Ellie while enjoying her sandwich. That's when, a notebook along with a text book was placed in front of her.
She raised her head to find Daniel standing in front of her.
"I marked the important sections in the text book. As long as you're smart enough, you will be able to understand it," Daniel voiced out.
Emma nodded, but before she could thank him, he left as if afraid of her words.
Ellie sighed and shook her head.
"That's a pure straight man, alright? How could he just slam books on your table as your first gift? There should be flowers, cakes, jewelries."
Emma picked up the notebook on the table and flipped through the pages. Daniel's neat handwriting filled them.
In her previous life, she bugged Daniel often, asking him to teach her. Through some pushing around, she convinced him, but in the end, her motive was not in the right place.
Instead of studying, she spent her time trying to seduce Daniel.
"Speaking of jewelries, there will be an auction held this weekend. All the timeless treasures of the Chen Family will be displayed. They ought to be beautiful! Let's go together!" Ellie expressed her excitement.
Emma pulled her lips into a thin line.
The Chen Family's auction.
She went there in her previous life.
Her thoughts were cut short when Vanessa's voice chimed in, "Are you going to the auction? I am as well. Can I tag in along with you?"
Ellie placed her hand on her chest, gasping dramatically. Displeasure was clear on her face.
"What are you? A stalker? Why do you keep randomly popping up out of nowhere!?" Ellie exclaimed.
Vanessa ignored her, and her pleading eyes were on Emma.
"Sure," Emma responded. Then, a dark glint crossed through her eyes, and she added, "But you better not get too smart this time, alright?"
Vanessa noticed the hint of warning in her voice. No matter how angry she felt towards Emma for treating her like this, she could only hold it in and nod.
"Ellie and I are done with our food. Put our trays away," Emma said, getting up from the chair.
Ellie stared at Vanessa arrogantly and contemptuously before grabbing Emma's arm and resting her head on her shoulder.
Vanessa smiled and nodded. "I will do that."
Ellie scoffed and pulled Emma away.
"I don't know why you keep her around. You know how she has no good intentions," Ellie stated, "she pretends to be a loyal dog but is clearly a backstabber."
Emma arched her brows. "You are quite perceptive."
Ellie held her chin up. "Well, amongst both of us, one of us has to have the brain. It's fine, Emma. You're the pretty one."
"If you're that smart, fix whatever is wrong with your life first." Emma chuckled and shook her head.
"Hey! My life is perfect! I am rich! My dad and mom loves me! I have an excellent best friend like you! And also, I am hot! And all the men fall on their feet in front of me!"
