The classroom buzzed with excitement as students showed off their newly tamed beasts. A boy with a fiery mane of hair stood proudly next to a roaring lion wreathed in flames. A girl sat atop a majestic griffin, its golden wings shimmering in the sunlight.
And then there was Kai Anther.
"Hey, Kai, what did you tame? A legendary dragon? Maybe a thunder wolf?" Arden's mocking voice rang out, drawing laughter from the crowd.
Kai scratched the back of his neck, holding out his palm. "Uh... meet Tiny."
An ant, barely visible, crawled onto his hand.
The laughter exploded. "An ant?! Are you serious?"
Kai sighed but remained calm. "You'll see."
