Yuki took a moment to think, crossing her arms as she looked at him more seriously. "Honestly?" she said, tilting her head slightly. "That's the bit of madness I was waiting for from you. I wanted to see if you had that little spark, that thing that makes you stand out from the rest. And I've got to say—you delivered."
She let out a light laugh, then frowned and stared at him more intently. "But I'll be honest—your answer makes me think you're either a genius or a monster."
Ryosuke stared at her, stunned by her words. "A... monster?"
Yuki nodded slowly, her face now completely serious. "Yes. A monster."
She paused, her gaze still locked on Ryosuke. "Your answer shows that you have more than enough of that madness it takes to survive. But it also shows that, if you're not careful, you could become something much darker."
A chill ran down Ryosuke's spine. It wasn't the first time he'd felt out of step with others since awakening his ability—but hearing those words from his aunt made it all the more unsettling.
"I... I don't want to become a monster," he murmured.
Yuki gave a crooked smile. "Well, that's what I'm here for. What kind of aunt would I be if I let my favorite nephew turn into a monster?" She gently patted his shoulder. "And trust me—I don't plan on going easy on you."
Ryosuke looked at her, a mix of apprehension and determination in his eyes.
The truth was, he never wanted to get dragged into this dangerous world—but now that he was in, he knew he had no choice. And with the power he'd been given, he intended to go all the way.
Still smiling, Yuki straightened up and stretched her arms above her head. "Alright, now that everything's clear, we can finally get serious."
She took a step back, crossing her arms again as she watched Ryosuke with interest. "Today, we'll start with the basics."
She slowly backed away and made a small gesture with her hand.
"Emerge from the shadows, veil darker than night, and cleanse this stain, source of blight," she recited.
A moment later, the sky seemed to darken slightly. A thick, swirling mist began to form around them, rising like an ethereal barrier, creating a massive dome that enclosed the entire clearing.
Ryosuke watched in awe, his eyes wide. Seeing it for real was so much more incredible. And knowing that he could do the same—it thrilled him.
Yuki slowly turned her head toward him, a sly smile on her lips. "What you're seeing here, Ryosuke, is what we call a barrier technique. This black dome is a curtain—a form of protection. It surrounds us and hides us from the outside."
Ryosuke turned to her. "So, we're completely invisible from outside? No one can see us?" he asked, pretending to try and understand.
Yuki nodded. "Exactly. As long as we stay within this dome, no one can observe what's happening here, or even sense our presence. Whether it's non-sorcerers or sorcerers, they won't see a thing. Unless, of course, they enter the barrier."
Ryosuke let out a low whistle. "That's really useful."
"Today, I'm going to teach you the basics." Yuki paused, then added in a more commanding tone, "But first, I want you to release your cursed energy. Completely. All at once."
Ryosuke stiffened at the request. He'd felt that energy bubbling inside him more than once—but he had never fully unleashed it.
"You told me you've learned to control it, didn't you? Then you should understand what I'm asking," she said.
Ryosuke nodded and took a deep breath.
Either way, it was perfect timing—he had questions about his energy reserves. Alone, he hadn't dared to try. But with his aunt there, maybe he could let loose, right?
He closed his eyes, focusing on the energy slumbering inside him. Slowly, he felt that raw force rise to the surface. It spread through every fiber of his being, burning like an invisible fire.
Then, without hesitation, he unleashed it all at once.
The effect was immediate.
A wave of steam burst from his body, swirling around him like a whirlwind. The air pressure changed suddenly, and wind howled violently through the clearing.
Dead leaves, twigs—anything not firmly rooted—were swept up in the storm of force. The surrounding trees bent under the pressure of the wind, and birds scattered in fright. Even the nearby animals fled.
Yuki, still standing, took a step back, visibly surprised by the intensity of the energy. Her hair whipped wildly in the wind, and her face lit up with a mix of shock and awe.
"Ryosuke! Stop!" she suddenly shouted, her voice cutting through the storm.
Her cry snapped Ryosuke's eyes open. Seeing the look on his aunt's face, he realized he may have released too much power.
He quickly cut off the energy flow. Instantly, the steam began to dissipate, and the pressure dropped. The wind died down almost immediately, leaving a heavy silence in the clearing. Only a few leaves floated gently back to the ground.
Ryosuke looked around, eyes wide. He had an idea of how immense his power was—but he hadn't expected it to be so... terrifying.
He turned to his aunt, who was still clearly shaken.
"I... I didn't know it would be that strong," he murmured, almost apologetically.
Yuki crossed her arms and let out a deep sigh. Her eyes were locked on Ryosuke, a mixture of astonishment and disbelief gleaming in her gaze.
"I didn't expect that. When you told me you awakened your potential just a month ago, I figured it'd be a moderate energy surge—especially since you were so late in awakening to jujutsu."
She slowly shook her head.
"At this stage, I thought your energy would be weak. But this..." She paused. "What you just released... it's beyond anything I've seen so far—and believe me, I know a lot of sorcerers. Maybe it's that delay that makes you so abnormal."
