After resting for a while, I decided it's time to get to work. Grabbing the laptop, I began to make my own additions to the Archangel network. The first addition was a blank spot, by which I mean that under a specific frequency, the Archangel network would be unable to trace any signal, my way of helping Martha.
The second addition was an amplifier. This will only trigger when the keyword is triggered, and that word is, of course, Doctor. I remember in the episode, Martha had gone around the world telling his story, and leaving an instruction, which led to the light show that happened on the Valiant. As for why I want to amplify it, it's to test a theory and see if the amplifier would increase the power that the Doctor receives, which will be amplified. If so, it gives me many ideas for keeping both my own companions and the Doctor's safe when the time comes.
The final thing I add is more for the future, as it's mentioned in the episodes that the network could be destroyed or repurposed. However, it's insinuated that its function as the Master's mind control tool was neutralised when the Doctor was restored, as the human race thought of his name all at once, causing the Master's influence in the network to be overwritten.
Still, if it remains operational in the future, the last addition I made was essential: a tracking program that allows you to locate whoever activates it. However, activation requires a key that I alone possess.
As for why, it's because I am unsure if I will be able to save Donna Noble from becoming the Donna Doctor. This is my insurance, as I have included an AI, not a true artificial life, but one that will do everything in its power to protect its target.
By the time all three programs were implemented, a month had passed, most of which was spent on the AI, which was not easy to make. I had to research more advanced coding while doing it to ensure the AI would not go rogue, and that I couldn't accidentally create Skynet, can I?
As for what Alice has done over the past month, she spent time investigating what the Master was doing, although she had a little help from a portable version of the cloaking device. Inside the pillar, the only issue is that it needs to be charged regularly, as it only has enough charge for 3 hours.
Other than that, not much has changed. There's still at least 10 months before the Doctor arrives, well, I mean, the version of the Doctor who was stuck at the end of the universe, other versions of the Doctor have appeared now and then. Still, they have yet to meet the Master, so seeing them will not change anything, unlike my own situation, where I have yet to leave the apartment.
"You should really go out, being stuck in this apartment all day for months might drive you mad" I look up to see Alice "There's something you should understand, most Time Lords are a little mad, especially those who survived the Time War. I am no exception. So, staying in this apartment all the time won't make me any more mad," she laughs at my words before speaking "Was it that bad, the war, I mean?".
I look at her with complicated eyes "It was hell, that was the only way to explain it to a human, although I did not participate directly, I know from those who did participate, as well as the last moments of my time on Gallifrey, a moment I have still not come to term with" I stop talking as the memory of the attack on the facility I was at comes to mind, the screams of the other staff as well as the unmistakable voices of a Dalek kill squad.
Noticing my somber expression, Alice speaks, "Sorry, I did not mean to bring back a difficult memory for you" I come to and look at her before speaking again" It's fine, I will need to deal with the pain eventually, just not right now, maybe one day I will be able to revisit those memories without feeling powerless" my words cause an awkward silence.
Breaking the silence, I move on to a more upbeat topic: " I am not alone, though there is the Master as well as the Doctor, and maybe just maybe in the future there will be more" as I say the last part, my mind wanders to a certain frizzy haired woman who will give the Doctor a run for his money.
That makes me think she was conceived in the time vortex. Could time have made her like the Doctor on purpose? If that's the case, then what does that mean for me, with a skill like singular In time? Does that mean I will receive the same treatment as the doctor? I shudder at the thought of having my own river song.
"Are you ok? You just started shaking." Alice's words break me out of my thought, " I am fine, I just thought of something that may happen in the future" Alice nods at my words before she hands me the Portable cloaking device. After which she speaks, "You should go out and get some fresh air, it might help you relax a bit, you have been working nonstop with only a few hours rest after long periods of working ".
After thinking about it, I realise she is right. Taking the cloaking device, before standing up, and moving toward the apartment's front door. With a quick be right back to Alice, I open the door and head outside to see to explore what's change while I was away, while also making sure I listen to what's going on to see exactly how far the Master might be with his plan, because no matter how persuasive he might be he can't stop humanity from spreading rumours and gossip, not in the 21st century, everything ends up on the internet eventually.
I was right; after walking for less than 6 minutes, I came across some individuals discussing the upcoming election, debating who leads which party, and, unsurprisingly, Harold Saxon came up. Although unlike other parties, he is an independent candidate.
However at the moment the conversation it's about him is more on the lines of as an independent its almost impossible for him to win, since a prime minister must have the majority seats in the house of commons, which means that the master's plan must include swaying a lot of MPs to his side to become the prime minister how he does the answer is simple AN the vote Saxon must not be the only message he embedded into the archangel network.
At least I now know how he became prime minister without a party, that begs the question how pissed were the other candidates after finding out their own MPs betrayed them, more importantly how the hell did he find the time to meet with more than half of the 326 MPs, while also handling the Archangel network project, the Paradox machine and have those meetings, not to mention getting appointed by the queen, despite her age she isn't stupid she would have seen how he underhandedly took MPs from other parties.
If that's not a red flag for any Prime Minister, then I don't know what is. Wait, could it be his wife's family has a connection to the royal family? It is insinuated that she has a rich background, most likely why the master chose her, but did the queen trust her to keep the master in check?
It would make sense why she never intervened when the master sent Torchwood on a wild goose chase. The Torchwood Institute falls under the Crown's jurisdiction, not the Prime Minister's, so he should not be able to give them orders.
Ah, so many loopholes in the show, it makes things hard to figure out since I have to figure out the gaps to have an idea of my next move, I am dreading when the time comes to meet Amy Pond, like she gets taken right under the Doctor's nose, and we only find out after the episode with the flesh like really, I suppose I am lucky. However, I can't stop that one since there's no River song as we know her, without Amy being taken by the Silence.
I know I could prevent it if I could figure out the exact moment she was taken, but I like River's song's character; she was like the good kind of crazy. Not to mention the fact that I seriously want to see the whole Doctor gets married, oh shit, wouldn't that make me the best man.
Shaking my head to get rid of those thoughts because, to be honest, that's my future problem. I bet that if this were the TV show and I were actually there, it would be entertaining for the audience, but not so much for me.
After getting that out of my mind by pushing the problem to my future self, I focus on what's happening. There are still eight and a half months till it all gets going. Best to make some more fail safes no telling what the master might be planning, this is reality after all not a tv show, people are more fluid in there planning than a show meaning he might make changes that I am not aware of best to be safe make some small robots that I can use to gather information the best and safest route since Alice is out of her Time and one look from the Master. He will know so from now on, best to be careful not to get seen.
Making my way back to the apartment, I think about a way actually to decide about Alice. She can't rely on the portable cloaking device every time she goes out, as it provides only 3 hours of use before needing recharging. Not only that, if I ever go out, I would need it. I could hack the government's database, but that would be accessible to the Master when he becomes Prime Minister, and I am sure he can see a fake identity since he has done it himself.
I could make another, but it would cut into the time I have before the Archangel network is online. It was up a few months before the election, if I am right, so at best I have like 4 months before the satellites get launched into space, the best course of action is to focus on the archangel network till it's up and running, then make a second one after the satellites are online with the back door I made. A bit of reinforcement on the back door to prevent the master from removing it should allow me to monitor the satellites and their programming.
With a plan in mind, just as I arrive at the apartment door, I head in, greeting Alice as I do, as well as informing her of the plan of action she will use the current cloaking device. At the same time, I will stay in the apartment until the Archangel network is launched, then I will build myself another cloaking device so I can leave and do whatever I need to do to prepare for the Doctor's arrival.
