Chapter 42 - DW: The Mechanic Chapter 36

While I work, I can't help but wonder about the Thirteenth Doctor, who regenerated into a female. According to the system, I can ensure I am always male, and the chances of switching genders are small anyway, but it's still there for other Time Lords.

It's going to be interesting when I meet Whittaker's version of the Doctor. She always seemed the most human, or rather, the one who put the most effort into her attempt to fit in with humanity. It wasn't done very well, but what can you expect from a Time Lord?

Trying to be like humans is not as easy as it sounds when you are not one, even with more than a thousand years of observing them. It's not important now, but the Doctors of the new who era, all seem to be trying to be more human, even the twelfth regeneration into Peter Capaldi was stated by the Doctor himself to act as a reminder of what he does, `save people`, even if it's only a small amount, he would still do it.

Anyway I should stop with these thoughts and focus on making the Masters life a living hell, funny thing is I bet he thinks its Martha screwing with everything, right that remind me I ne dot be on the valiant during the final showdown " Alice start moving everything into the TARDIS best to be ready to leave when the final showdown starts."

Alice nods and starts moving all the equipment except the pillar and the laptop. I am currently using the pillar; it will be moved last once it's moved to my TARDIS. It will be connected to Ada, who will be able to control the output, affecting only the TARDIS. Then, I will spend my time inside. At the same time, it just sits on the valiant right under the Masters nose.

I thought of this because I seriously want to see his face when he realises a Time Lord has bested him, who is 600 years younger than he is - it will be hilarious. Huh, I still kept some human traits even after becoming a Time lord.

I am learning more about myself than I did before I was sent here. If this continues, it's going to be an enjoyable ride, but hey, at least it will be fun, right?

It takes a few days to finish moving everything into the TARDIS, but once it's done, I move in there myself with the laptop. Before I continue working, I make sure the pillar is connected right, then set the TARDIS to head to the Valiant.

Once the TARDIS has arrived I turn the monitor on that sits on the console so I can see exactly what's happening, once I confirm we are both in the right place and time, I get back to making sure that Martha was undetectable to the Master, I seriously have no idea how she did it in the show. Still, it's a miracle she wasn't caught, since at the moment she was being very sloppy. I suppose that she may have gotten better at it as the tear went on, but she is relying on the 'ignore me' Key the Doctor gave her a lot.

Sure it causes people to ignore her but that does not apply to a digital foot print geez, I know you're a medical student not computer science one but its basic that you leave a digital footprint wherever you go on the internet especially when the archangel network is involved if the Doctor had not given her the key she would be found faster than you could say banana split.

It's going to be a long year for me, having to cover her tracks. I hope she improves fast. The Master has eyes everywhere, not literally, of course, but he will know if you're seen, but you can't be discovered. Yet it must be at the right moment.

That is how I spent my year, making as much noise as I could to draw the attention away from Martha, creating false sitting, rumours, heck, I even created a few robots to cause havoc for the Master's Toclafay, all while watching the Master get angry at the entire situation that's most definitely gotten out of his control.

I did nothing to the paradox machine, though this event creates a crack in the Master's madness. Without the showdown with the Doctor, he does not gain the ability to change in later incarnations, although in the end, he reverts. It was nice for the Doctor to get his friend back for at least a moment, instead of a self-centred madman.

Just as I finish my thought, on the monitor, Marta is brought into the Valiant's command room, and just like the episode, the Master gives his condescending speech until Martha informs him that the weapon was never the actual plan.

The look on his face when he realises that his greatest weapon has just been used against him is priceless. If time lords had a Twitter, I would definitely post his reaction. Not long later, the doctor does his whole light show moment, seeing this, I stand, "time to introduce myself".

Walking to the exit of my TARDIS, I turn back to Alice, "How do I look?" She laughs at me before speaking, "Great, go get 'em", getting a good response. I open the doors and exit.

My appearance causes them all to turn towards me "Sup, hope I am not late" Jack laughs at my words before speaking "Good, to see you, Mechanic" I nod at him before turning to the Doctor" What are we doing with him?" hearing me the doctors expression takes a contemplative look indicating that he is thinking for a moment " it's just the tree of us, he is our responsibility." His words make me roll my eyes. I knew he would say that, so I finished what he would have said," Then keep him with you in your TARDIS, that way you can keep an eye on him".

I watch as the Doctor nods in agreement. No sooner does he agree than a loud bang goes off, and the master collapses to the floor. Seeing this, I looked at Lucy Saxon, who was currently holding a gun. Jack walks over cautiously, taking the gun from her while the Doctor cradles the mast in his arms, telling the master to regenerate. Unfortunately for him, the Master is a stubborn ass and refuses.

Not long after, the life of the Master comes to an end for now, as I know he will return; even death won't stop him from fighting the Doctor. I observe, not saying anything. Martha comes up to me and whispers, "You knew this would happen, right?" I look at her before whispering back, "It was a possible outcome. Humans are unpredictable at times", not like I could tell her, yeah, this is what's supposed to happen, that would no doubt cause a lot of questions from the Doctor as to why I would not do anything for a better outcome. Rule one of being a Time Lord: don't get on the Doctor's shit list; it never ends well. Look what he did to the family when he went into hiding as John Smith. He even got Rassilon exiled from Gallifrey.

So, yeah, best not to end up on the receiving end of his anger; I'd rather like living, thanks. After everything is settled, as the only two Time Lords, both the Doctor and I set up a Funeral pyre for the Master's body. Once the pyre is ready, we place the body on it. I then hand the Doctor a lit torch, " he is your friend, it's only right for you to light it" Taking the torch from me, he moves towards the pyre, lowering the Torch, causing it to catch fire.

Both the Doctor and I stand there in silence for a few minutes, before we both make our way back to my TARDIS, heading back to the Valiant to pick Jack, Martha and her family up so they can finally go home. Of course, the Doctor also wants to retrieve his TARDIS, as, thanks to the destruction of the Paradox Machine, his TARDIS has reconfigured the control room to return it to its original state.
