Chapter 39 - DW: The Mechanic Chapter 33

Four months later.

Well, it's finally time the launch is today. I was able to ensure my backdoor into the satellite programming remained, but it was not easy. The Master had noticed it so I had to get creative with hiding it so I spent about a month just a back and forth with the master, it was at this time that I found out my assimilate ability does not just apply to a learning scenario, it actually allows me to improve as I code I found that out while trying to hide my backdoor to the satellites from the master while he tried to find it.

My ability to hide it improved every time he found it; eventually, I was able to make him think he had got rid of it. Not only that, but the ability itself levelled up from the whole ordeal.

SYSTEM: ABILITIES

Assimilate:

LVL: 4

At level 4 allows the user to learn skills by seeing it being used it while also allowing for easier learning of knowledge or self learnt skills also provides for the use of skills the users stats do not meet the requirements for, however after using this function it will leave the user in a weakened state depending on their race(note for a time lord due to the unique regeneration properties will only be weakened for 2 seconds at most). At level 4, this skill also allows the user to grow current skills at an accelerated rate (this was already present, but the effect was minimal before level 4, making it not reach the threshold for the system to recognise).

Yes, a new effect is now displayed on the ability, which means they can improve if they are not at maximum level. The coding was not the only thing I did; I also created some spy spider drones, all equipped with cloaking and recording capabilities. Due to their size, the portable cloaking devices on them last longer than the ones that Alice and I use. As for what I have them doing, I'm keeping tabs on the critical people involved in what's to come, including Martha's family as well as the Master.

As for what's happened on that side for Martha's family, not much happens out of the ordinary. The Master, however, has already met the future humans. As for how I know this well, the murder balls keep appearing to him with their mad rants, asking him to hurry up.

He also got married, which was something. I never thought he would actually have a wedding, but hey, the more you know, right? He also has the same plan as the episode; he is fully aware that the Doctor will appear, and with only a few months left till the election, most of the campaign has already started, including Harold Saxons.

The amusing thing is, he doesn't need to rely on the archangel network when he gives speeches. As the Doctor said, he is hypnotic; it's freaky to see how the crowd acts during his speeches, as if he has them in the palm of his hand.

Myself, though, am unaffected, which is because Time Lords are more complex to be hypnotised than humans. But still, I had to stop Alice from watching his speeches as she was also affected like the rest of the humans.

The basic gist of his speeches was that the previous governments had focused on making the rich richer. At the same time, he was the only one standing for the people, somewhat ironically, since his entire plan was to turn humanity into slaves of his new empire. However, he would not mention that out loud during his election speeches, would he?

No offence to the actor, but I prefer Missy over this version of the master, not because she is female, but because she seems more human, I suppose, most likely due to all the time she might have spent with them during the time she was making the Cybermen army.

Hell, she was even able to side with the Doctor, unfortunately, this version of the master ended up turning on her before she could return to the Doctor to help him, and don't get me started on the Spy Master, he was more insane than this version, I have my doubts that Missy regenerated into him, the most likely scenario is that he is either a version from before her or Time lords brought him back again from a version before Missy.

I understand that he would go to Gallifrey and discover that the Doctor is the Timeless child, and that part of the Doctor resides in all Time Lords, but Missy had improved from her previous self's madness. Not entirely, of course, you can't completely fix crazy, but it can still improve, to a manageable level.

So, how do you go from improving to being never touched with a ten-foot pole crazy, it makes no sense at all.

Anyway, enough about the Master's questionable existence for now. Time to focus on what I am going to do with the few months I have now till the Doctor arrives. First, the warehouse we see them in after their arrival, I might leave some presents for them, nothing that will change how it all plays out, to make things easier for Martha.

One present will be a way to ensure her family is not killed. I do not trust the master to act as he did in the episode when they tried to kill the master on the Valiant. Nothing groundbreaking, just a miniature teleport. That will teleport them to this complex, which I have made numerous upgrades to in my spare time, between coding and building the spy spiders.

One such upgrade is reinforcing the whole building, it took a while, though, with the size of the apartment complex, it was not done manually of course I used expendable nanites, they are expendable because once they finish their tasks they disintegrate, can't have someone finding them can I, the first thing humanity would do would be to weaponize them not going to risk them.

As for the other upgrades, they serve as a means to prevent the Toclafane from entering the building; each entrance and window has an electrical current that can be discharged. However, so long as a human or Time lord enters, nothing will happen, but if anything else tries, they will be shocked with a current that will fry any machinery. This means if the master does find a way to bypass the cloaking on the building, only he and humans can enter. To solve the human problem, there's a tranquilliser gun mounted at the entrances, with enough tranquillisers to take down a fully grown elephant.

As for how they will be activated, that's simple. The cameras have been upgraded for facial recognition; only registered individuals can enter without being targeted by the guns. As for who is registered, there are Martha's family, me, Alice, the Doctor, as well as Jack and Martha.

The other presents I left are for the Doctor. I left him the access key for the Archangel satellites. I am sure he will understand what I have done when he sees the key. The others are stuff to make hiding from the master easier.

I did leave a portable cloaking device and a method to charge it there with a note saying `for Martha. ` I am sure the Doctor will figure out why. She can't be found until she completes her mission; a world ruled by the Master is not a good one.

That's all I can do with my current capabilities, while trying to remain hidden if I was willing to change this than I might just build something to straight up kill the Doctor. Still, I know this is a moment for the Doctor; at this time, he thinks there are only three of us left. If I were to kill the Master, he might not forgive me.

Now, though, it's just a waiting game for the main event to occur. For now, though, I can get some well-deserved rest that Alice keeps demanding I take. Hell, even Ada is agreeing with her at this point. I have not slept at all these past few months. "Maybe I should get some popcorn, I might need it for a snack while I watch the events play out.
