Chapter 4 - Awakening

Jake was experiencing the true meaning of agony at the moment, the purple flames were burning his body at an extreme pace.

The flames weren't meant to burn him

The purple flames were in fact hellfire. The flames were meant to attack any creature that didn't belong in the demon realm. demons often used it to torture their victims.

Under normal circumstances, the flames weren't meant to burn his body at all, they were meant to target his soul, but since he had the soul of an incubus and a vampire it couldn't do that.

Hellfire was a type of flame with little sentience so it was confused, the flame saw that he had the soul of an inhabitant of the demon realm but he had a substantial percentage of human bloodline in him.

The flames were burning away his human bloodline, simultaneously it was purifying his vampire and incubus bloodline.

An incubus was a male member of the succubus race.

The succubi were a race of lust demons, they were believed direct descendants of Lilith; the queen of the demon realm.

The vampires were also originally inhabitants of the demon realm, although most of them resided in the same plane of existence as humans.

"ARRGHHHHHHH" jake screamed as blood leaked out of his eyes, the pain of having his humanity ripped out of him was driving him crazy.

His harrowing screams echoed through the corridors for an unknown before his mind couldn't take it anymore.

His eyes rolled back into his head and he fainted, finally giving him respite from the torture he was being put through.

As his eyes rolled back into his head jake eyes saw a floating screen.

It had bee a long day at work for Sheila, she was currently heading home to jake who she believe would be waiting for her in the hidden tunnel.

Her figure was covered in a dark cloak as she walked home in silence, slowly moving through the street until she reached a particular alley that led to a dead end.

Walking into the alley, Sheila scouted her surroundings before pushing one of the bricks in the wall of the dead end.

The brick wall parted to reveal a door, Sheila walked in with almost no hesitation, as she walked in she feel a breeze pass right in front of her but she paid no attention to it.

She continued to walk forward as the door closed behind her turning back into an ordinary looking wall.

After 30 odd minutes of walking she reach the place where the stone slab which they slept on was located.

As soon as she stepped into the room she felt the atmosphere was odd.

She could feel it, almost like instinct she could tell that another member of her race was here.

Tension rose within her as her mind raced with endless possibilities;

Had they been discovered?

her eyes scanned the room for anything out of place, it didn't take long for her to find the stairs that led down into the corridors.

"I'm a 1000% sure that this wasn't here before", Sheila muttered to herself, she immediately drew two 15 inch daggers from somewhere under her cloak, it was clear that the cloak was enchanted with a bit of spatial magic.

Sheila moved cautiously toward the stairs, with the majesty and patience of a cold calculated killer she slowly descended the stairs.

Reaching the bottom of the stairs, Sheila was heartbroken by what she saw, jake was in the middle of an empty room, he laid on the ground motionlessly.

"Jake!," Sheila screamed, " Wake up.... wake up", she tried waking him up but the was no response, he laid there on the cold hard ground without a pulse or heartbeat.

She could smell the scent of her kind on him, just that it was slightly different from what she was used to.

Sheila knelt beside him, rivers were streaming down her face as she mourned what seemed to be the death of her son.

Because of the grief that had overwhelmed her, she failed to notice that Jake's hair was now a dark shade of purple instead of its original brown color.

"How did you discover this place", a cold steady voice suddenly spoke.

Someone was in here with them.

A man had suddenly appeared in front of her, seemingly out of thin air.

Sheila immediately picked up Jake's body and jumped backwards with practiced a ease that insinuated she had a bit of fighting experience.

Sheila was extremely on guard.

Her grief immediately turned into anger, she was just denied the chance to mourn her son properly.
