Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

The rain poured heavily outside as a shadow hovered over three lifeless bodies holding a knife dripping with blood ,the shadow moved around adjusting each body like it was setting them up for a picture. The shadow worked with grace as if he was paid to make sure they were well taken care of even after death, after setting everyone accordingly,it walked into another room and came back almost immediately with a black backpack,it stopped again to admire its work a little more before leaving.

It didn't stayed for long to look at the work enough before it saw a bright light pierce into the house revealing a male in his early twenties wearing a draped hoodie over his head with a black mask. A siren blasted from a distance,he knew at the moment that he was about to be caught.

Without wasting a second he bolted through the back door and went over the fence before the car stopped at the house.

He watched from the distance as more cars blaring sirens showed up as well and running towards the house,a small smile tugged at the corner of his mouth before leaving the scene.

***

It was a quiet evening at the station and a calm day as well, everyone was relieved after closing up murder case that had taken almost a year to solve, the chief police was losing it when the media was clawing at him requesting for action,it was not very easy trying to catch a killer that already calculated himself and knew when to move and when not to,but he had made a mistake that led to him being caught.

"He would get cocky and he would make a mistake" the chief police had said to the officer in charge of the case earlier that day after wiping out an entire family and he was right, he did make a mistake leading to him being caught although it was still late.

The cops came in late after the family were already butchered, this case had caused a backlash for the cops and officers in charge of the case.

The crime department was buzzing with calls from the media asking questions about the murder case that was just closed when that call came in.

"Crime department, how many I help you" said a tired officer robbing his hand on his eyes

"Hello" said a female shaky voice from the background "I think they are dead"she continued with a low sob

"Ma'am I can't hear you clearly, are you ok?" He asked leaning in closer now to the call,he was getting tired of answering calls from the media that he didn't really put his mind on the call until he heard her son.

"Where are you right now?" He asked further writing out the address she managed to mumble out while still sobbing.

"Ma'am, I need you to listen to me" he said calmly. "I need you to get back inside your house and stay quiet the police are on their way" he added before signalling out to his female colleague to take over the call while he got the report out. Within a minute the whole place was filled with chaos, officers running out to get into their cars and turning on their sirens.

They got to the house and surrounded the areas before the others went armed and stood by the door, one of the officers knocked twice before kicking down the door.

They all froze at the horrifying sight that sat in the living room, while some random out to throw up due to the disgust.

"Call the homicide department" said the officer in charge before running out to throw his guts out.

A woman in her late thirties layed coiled up on the sofa with a blanket coverd up to her chest,a call came in jolting her up immediately, hearing an officers voice from the end she sighed in relief but only lasted for a second before it changed to fear.

"I'm on my way" she said and jumped up immediately and bolted for the door without looking back.

She drove as fast as she could counting how many traffic rules she has broken but ignored it because it was an emergency, she got to the house where almost the entire police station seems to have surrounded and pushed her way through raising her badge up for them to clear off for her.

"Detective" called out the officer who had given the order to call her in

"Why can't I have a peaceful night without a murder or something" she asked following him towards the house.

"I'm sorry detective but you really have to see this" he said opening the door, she stopped walking, then slowly brought out her phone light and pointed it inside and she was horrified.

To be continued.
