The water was I've cold but she barely felt it in the biting winter.
Kauleen stood face down, and stark naked under the running water as it washed off the metamorphic blood and grime.
Images flashed from last night's dream...
the screams...
the pain...
the raw torture...
Only if she could remember...
Feeling yet again disgusted and annoyed with herself, she turned off the shower and walked towards the mirror.
The bathroom was large.Consisting of a bathtub large enough to fit in two people, which was shielded by a thin sheet of linen curtain for privacy; a large shower head in a glass enclosed cube, large enough for three people, and a toilet, behind a wooden screen. The black tiles flourishing the bathroom gave it an ominous feeling. To the sink side hung a shelf which held toiletries, medicine, and towels.
Grabbing a grey robe, Kauleen covered the bruises which marred her perfect skin. She stared at her reflection in the mirror.
Dark long curls...
Large green eyes...
A small dainty nose...
Plump lips...
Her small round face supported by two small ears.
She should have been the epitome of innocent beauty, but Kauleen knew better than to consider herself one.
Trained by her grandfather and father to become a killing machine, Kauleen was more of a dark beauty...
...a girl of your nightmares...
She stared at the pill in her hand.
...round and white;with little red lines...
Kauleen knew not their work. All she knew is they've been part of her life since birth. According to her parents, she'd been terribly I'll and it can resurface, so she had to take it. She'd refuted her parents once, and she'd passed out right in the middle of a crime scene, and they'd thought her to be a victim. But Kauleen could remember nothing about it. All through her childhood, to her teenage years, and now twenty-six,Kauleen had been on those pills; and when she ran out, she imported or flew to Peninsula to get them. Her father's still running drug producing company produced them for her.
Shrugging her shoulders, she threw the pill in her mouth, and swallowed with some water. The relaxing effect she always got from taking them coursed through her veins and she sighed.
Walking into the bed room, Kauleen walked towards the closet.
The bedroom was larger than the bathroom.
A queen sized bed was situated in the middle; the left wall had a bookshelf filled with numerous educational and novels against it, a large window or rather glass panels that led to a rather large balcony.
The right wall had a large walk in closet;secreted from the world by sliding glass doors, and the bathroom wooden door.
The wall opposite the bed held a flat screen television and a shelf beneath it.
The entrance to the bedroom, a large Oakwood door, was at the right hand side of the television...
At such, the first thing to be noticed upon entering the room was the bed...
Everything was grey and a mixture of cream; from the tiles to the wall paint. It gave off an ominous vibe, but Kauleen never minded it.
She emerged from the closet all clothed in black leather jumper. Her black hair was in a ponytail, and her face shrouded in a silver decorative mask. It covered her eyes and the right hand side of her face, leaving the rest exposed. Sliding on gloves;silver coloured, she walked towards the dresser that sat close to the bed. Putting on a transparent grape flavoured lip gloss, she opened the drawer of the dresser and pocketed a packet of chewing gum. Grabbing a belt, she secured her gadgets on it; guns, bullets, explosives, and a few darts. She opened another drawer, which was adjourned to the bed; barely visible if not checked for well.
She paused as her hands traced the contours of the item.
It was a branded bow.
Made of pure gold.
Coated in silver and lead.
It should be heavy, but for some reason it's not. The string was made of silver; twisted like vines that made the deadly weapon look royal.
Three letters sat on the top curl of the item
K.V.K
Kauleen Venica King.
Kauleen grabbed the bow and the quiver filled with arrows; hoisting it around her body.
She didn't bother leaving through the front door and instead jumped down from the balcony, landing gracefully near her bike. She didn't bother about a helmet as she drove off.
The Kings were well known in the world, and Kauleen was the first female heir-no second, the first was traced back to centuries ago but she'd been murdered. Since then, there's been no record of a female child in the generation of the King family until Kauleen came along. She'd been trained more than the men in her family but they'd never forgot she was a woman, only focusing on building her strength and stamina.
Kauleen knew her family had secrets. Deadly deep secrets that ran in their blood, but she never bothered to know about them, because most of them came to her instead. She'd stumbled over many secrets her family held but she'd kept them to herself knowing the dangers of her knowledge.
Just when she'd reached the core of them all on that deadly night...
They'd been wiped out...
Kauleen shook her head as a searing pain took over for a moment. She wondered why she was feeling sentimental tonight.
Oh right
She turned twenty six today
31st December
New year's eve.
But it wasn't just her birthday...
...It was a memorial too...
...a deathday...
...of all the Kings.
Kauleen knew not what they were after that night but her sixteenth birthday celebration had led to the demise of everyone ever to beat the surname King...
From her uncles to their families, aunts, cousins, nephew, nieces, grandfather, father, brother, and mother...
She'd woken up right in the middle of the explosion, covered in blood and grime; in a sea of dead bodies consisting of everyone of her family members and attackers too.
All she remembered was fighting, but she never truly remembered what happened.
The tortured screams of pain still haunts her till date, and no amount of sleeping pills can keep the nightmares at bay.
Kauleen arrived at her destination.
A dense dark forest...
It was off limits.
Atleast to humans it was...
But not to the night creatures...
A smile formed on her face.
Time to release some tension.
