Chapter 1 - Dazai-1

"Well, Dazai, that was a job well done," A voice garbled out from the phone on the dashboard.

"I know", Dazai answered, wiping blood from his hands.

"Report to headquarters," and the call disconnected.

Dazai smirked as he started the car and drove off from his victim's place. He worked for a private organization named 'Guild-D'. Anyone wanting a person dead would contact 'Guild-D', and they would contact Dazai with a bio-data of the victim.

Dazai turned off the ignition and stepped out of the car in front of a normal-looking building and rapped 3 times on the door then pressed his hand beside the doorknob, a light moved behind his palm and the door swung open, and as he crossed the threshold the door swang shut, the inside of the building was nothing like the apparent outside, there was a whole indoor training arena, a few people spotted him and bowed respectfully, Dazai nodded to them. He entered a room on the far end of the arena, the only door visible. Inside, the only furniture was a chair and a table with a telephone on it. It was pitch dark, except for a lamp on the table beside the telephone. Dazai seated himself and picked up the phone.

"That was a job well done, Dazai, good job."

"Yes, sir."

"Your next job, the client will contact you."

"Who is the victim?"

"Recently, a town, Riverstain, was bombed, killing 160 people, because a factory there refused to provide illegal ammunition; the victim's name is Ango Ria."

"I will take the job."

"Good", and the line ended. Dazai got up and exited the room.

A girl ran up to him, "Dazai!" She bowed to him, "How did the job go?'

"Great," He said, bored.

"Can I come-"

"Train, June, later."

"But..."

"It's an order," she stared at him, bowed stiffly, and walked away. He looked at her retreating. He sighed, how should he explain to that stupid 17-year-old that this was not a joke, killing someone, he didn't want her to be a killing machine, unlike him she didn't care for the victim to be a bad person or a good one, she was like a little sister to him, he knew her since she was 12, but now, she was something he didn't understand, along the way she had changed. He wondered when that happened, why he didn't notice it?

His phone dinged, and he read the victim's bio-data and laughed.

"It's been a long time since I have been given a hard job."

He stepped off the motorbike and looked at the dark building. He walked up to the entrance, and the 2 guards surged forward to stop him from entering.

"Sir, you cannot enter without a valid..." Dazai shot him in the head and looked towards the 2nd guy, who stood there for a second, stunned, and then reacted. He pulled out his walkie-talkie, "NEED BAC..." Dazai shot him too and rolled his eyes, bored. He should have at least tried to fight; he opened the door and entered, stuffing the gun in his back pocket. His rifle had made no noise, so the people ignored him, thinking he had been allowed to enter.

He walked to the elevator, and the door was just closing when a guy entered. He was in the same attire as Dazai, Black jeans, a shirt, and dirt boots, though he was wearing a mask, Dazai wasn't wearing one. Dazai glanced at his eyes, and a feeling of deja vu climbed over him. The guy pressed a button on the elevator... he was going on the same floor as him.

The guy made eye contact with him, and Dazai shivered...his eyes...He averted his eyes and inched away from him.

They got off at the same floor, and Dazai walked to the door, behind which he knew his victim waited. He had just touched the doorknob when he heard the click of a gun. He whipped around to see the guy on the elevator pointing a gun at him.

"Knew you were the assassin," the guy muttered.

Dazai tilted his head and pointed his gun at him in turn, "You have a great eye for shit like that."

"Who sent you?"

"Like I will tell you," Dazai laughed, and then grew grave."Bet you're from Eudamonia, huh?"

"Bingo"

Before Dazai could react, He lurched towards Dazai, making him step back a few paces. He stuffed his gun back into his pockets, as using a firearm in such proximity will not end well. They both stared at each other for a moment. The other guy frowned, "Just leave, I don't have time for this".

"Scared?" Dazai asked.

Before either of them could do anything, the elevator opened and a few workers stepped out.

"Ah, shi-" Dazai muttered as both of them stared at the workers who were talking amongst themselves. He glanced at the door behind the other guy. He could kill all of the people present here to get to the door, but that would leave too much evidence and too little time. He'll have to go for now.

Dazai looked at the guy to find him staring. He chuckled and patted his shoulder, "Don't worry, I'll come back."

He turned around to leave, but the guy clutched his arm, "What's your name?"

Dazai glanced at him and tilted his head. "No harm in telling a dead man my name, huh? Dazai, remember that"

Ignoring him, Dazai exited the building, half expecting to be followed, but no one did. He shook his head and looked back at the building to see that guy staring at him again from the upper windows.

"Weirdo," He muttered as he started his car. He drove off feeling a bit creeped out; for some reason, that guy seemed familiar, but if they had met before, Dazai would have remembered him. He keeps track of everyone in this line of work, and grudges go a long way.

He stopped at his apartment and stopped when he saw the unlocked door.

He swore as he entered, "JOSH, COME DOWNSTAIRS," He yelled at the stairs.

A guy came pattering down, "Oh, Dazai, what's up?"

"Seriously? Do you want this place to get robbed or something? Just bolt the door? Is it that hard, you idiot?"

Josh shrugged and slumped on the couch.

Josh was the tech guy that Dazai worked with; they had known each other for a decade. He was more nerd coded than any guy he had ever met, with round glasses that magnified his eyes, the classic.

"How'd the new job go?" Josh asked, yawning.

Dazai nudged him with his foot to make space on the couch, "Gotta try again, I guess."

Josh sat up straighter, "Wait- You didn't complete it?" He laughed, "YOU didn't complete it? I gotta call June."

Dazai rolled his eyes," I'm gonna complete it either way." He yanked the phone from Josh's hand and tossed it on the floor.

"Oi!" Josh protested.

"Go live in your own house. Why do you come here every day anyway?"

Josh pulled his glasses higher up, "Your setup's great."

"It's not like you're poor, dude, buy your own."

Josh shrugged and got cozy on the couch again. "You already have one that you don't even use that much."

Dazai's phone started ringing. June's calling. He stared at Josh, "Seriously? How did you tell her that quickly?"

Josh shrugged, his eyes glued to his phone.

Dazai sighed and picked it up, "Hey-" He had barely said that before June interrupted.

"YOU COULDN'T COMPLETE IT!? My god, Dazai, that's a first," June laughed.

"Yeah, A guy from Euidamonia intercepted."

Josh sat up, "Euidamonia? You met their agent?"

"Yeah, had to leave cause there were a lotta people present."

"You mean you left him alive?" June chirped.

"Tch, go do something else, June, and Josh, I want you to find information about someone." He tossed the phone on the couch and stretched. Let's see who that guy was.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Light Hazel eyes and he's probably blind in his right eye and a scar on his right eyebrow"

Josh stared at him open mouthed, "You want me to look into a guy with just his eyes? No name, No proper physical features?"

"Well he works for Eudamonia" Dazai shrugs, "And don't act like you can't find him, You're the best private investigator that I know of"

Josh squinted his eyes suspiciously.

"Hey come on dude, just take it" Dazai patted him on the back.

Josh rolled his eyes and pulled is glasses up, "Fine, but what changed? You've never looked into a person yourself?"

Dazai stopped for a moment and shrugged, "Think of it as curiosity I guess"

"Uh huh" Josh said suspiciously, "Sure, come to me in like 15 minutes"
