Oh my God. This is so embarrassing.
He caught me. I saw everything… and Lord, he looked sinfully hot. I felt light-headed, dizzy even.
"Like what you saw?"
His deep voice rolled through the steamy air, sending shivers racing down my spine.
I turned only to find him now wrapped in a plush white bathrobe, looking like a literal god. I sighed in relief. "I—I'm sorry for invading your privacy. That was… so embarrassing. I'm really sorry, Jake."
"Hey," he said gently, walking closer, "enough of that. It's okay."Then came the wink. Besides, this body belongs to you. There's nothing wrong if you see it… and fall for it."
I could die right there. Out of shame, out of flustered excitement, out of sheer heat.
Mind having breakfast with me?" he asked with a teasing smile.
"Y-yeah… sure. I'll join you in a jiffy."
I rushed to the bathroom and took a cold shower I needed it. My cheeks were still flaming. Once I was done, I walked into the closet and reached for a mini blue jumpsuit. It hugged me perfectly. I looked cute, fresh, and confident. I paired it with my custom Fendi slippers, tied my hair into a messy bun, dabbed on some light makeup, and clasped a diamond choker around my neck.
I smiled brightly at my reflection in the mirror.
"Wow… what a dimple you've got there, Aurora," I giggled, clearly pleased with myself.
Descending the grand stairs, I headed toward the dining room only to freeze at the doorway.
Jake was already there. But he wasn't calm.
His voice thundered through the hall, filled with rage. "Who the hell does he think he is?! I don't make deals with arrogant businessmen!" he roared into the phone.
"He's been causing problems for me ever since he became a tycoon. He thinks he can play with me? Take my stocks behind my back?" He paused, listening… then snapped,
"I want the cash transferred into my account right this minute! This is billions we're talking about. I can't afford such a loss. Dammit!"
And just like that he smashed the phone against the floor. I stepped forward nervously. "Good morning, Jake." He turned, fuming. "What is good about the morning?!"
His tone cut like a blade.
I froze. My heart dropped. I blinked quickly, willing the tears not to fall, but they betrayed me. I turned and ran out of the dining room, heading straight into the garden.
I sat there, on the bench under the blossom tree, silent tears running down my cheeks.
How was that my fault? All I did was greet him. How was I supposed to know work had gone to hell?
Tiny sobs escaped me. The entire garden heard my pain.
"Aurora…"
I turned to see him standing behind me, regret written all over his face. "I'm sorry. Please… forgive me," he said softly. "I was stressed out. I know I shouldn't have spoken to you like that. It won't happen again, I swear."
He reached for my hand, but I pulled away and hit his hand. "Don't," I snapped.
"What wrong did I do, Jake? How was I supposed to know you were having a rough morning? I understand that you're stressed, but you shouldn't have been rude to me."
My voice cracked.
"Did you bring me here just to act this way towards me?" Each word hurt him more than the last. He looked crushed. He should've been more careful. His tongue had been too sharp. His pride too loud.
"I want to go back to Sadash," I whispered, wiping my tears with the back of my hand.
"At least… she won't yell at me."
He narrowed his eyes at me, stunned. "When did I—"
"I said I'm sorry, bae," he cut in desperately. "Please… forgive me. It'll never happen again."
