Chapter 33 - The House Of Broken Trust

Aurora's Bedroom – Moments Before the Confrontation

"What are you saying, Angel? I've lived with Jake my whole life. "Were you his girlfriend all that while?"

"N-no," Aurora stammered.

"See? All those years you were locked up in your house, Jake had the opportunity to go out and live freely. He would always come back and tell you about his crazy experiences. Am I wrong?"

"No, you're not."

Angel let out a sigh. "Look, Jake is my friend too, but that doesn't mean we can trust him completely. I'm not even in New York right now I'm still in Miami. I'll advise you to go back to your parents' house. At least you'll feel at ease there. Your so-called caring mom will be there for you. Sadash too. Please… stop crying, bestie."

"I will. Thank you. I'll be waiting for you."

"I'll come visit you the very first day I get back from my trip. Stay strong."

"Thanks, Angel. Bye."

The bedroom was filled with my sobs. My eyes were swollen from all the crying. I was simply waiting to confront Jake before leaving this house. Then, it suddenly hit me—I needed to make an important call.

I picked up my phone and dialed Miss Kim's number.

"Hello?" I said in a shaky voice. "It's me, Aurora."

"Hey, sweetheart! How have you been?—wait… are you crying? What happened? Where's Jake?"

"He's the reason behind all these tears," I said, my voice cracking. I explained everything to her in detail. She didn't interrupt me she just listened carefully.

"Listen, Aurora," she said gently, "take a deep breath. Don't trust that maid's words so easily. Wait for Jake to return and listen to his side of the story. If it doesn't make sense, you're free to make any decision you want. But right now, you're not in the right state of mind. Don't do anything you'll regret later."

"Thanks, Ma'am Kim. I knew I could count on you."

"I wish I could be there to comfort you, but I'm away on a business trip. Just wipe those tears. And remember don't let your emotions cost you the only man you've ever loved."

"Thanks, Ma'am Kim."

"You're welcome, dear. I love you."

"Hmmm," was all I could manage to say.

I felt slightly better after speaking to Miss Kim. Just then, Jake entered the house with a bright smile, carrying a bouquet of fresh yellow tulips my favorite flowers. He had bought them the moment he saw them, thinking, Aurora will love my surprise.

He hurried inside eagerly, but the moment he entered the living room, he froze in horror. His smile dropped instantly. He dropped the bouquet the second his eyes scanned the wreckage before him.

"Gaius! Gaius!" he shouted, his voice thunderous."Yes, sir! Yes, sir!" the butler came rushing in, visibly panicked.

"What the hell happened here?! Where are all these blood stains from? And what the heck happened to the living room?"

"Sir… Madam made the mess."

"So why the hell didn't you clean it up?"

"She warned us not to, sir. She said she wanted you to see everything for yourself."

Jake's eyes narrowed, voice rising with fury. "And the blood? What about it?"

"I think it's Madam's blood, sir. She might have cut her hand while throwing the things."

"You think?" Jake's eyes widened in disbelief. "No, no, repeat what you just said. You think? Are you even listening to yourself?"

"Yes, sir. That's why we didn't touch anything—we didn't want to disobey."

Jake shook his head, fury building. "So none of you thought to attend to her? Not even when she was bleeding?! What the hell is going on in my house?!"
