December is the most awaited month of the year. Winter vacations, snowball fights, Christmas celebrations, welcoming the new year, and the likes. Like any other day, today was another day of the month. Peaceful night, kids playing in the park, happiness took over the world, and so did the cold.
Almost everything looked perfect. Keyword being "almost".
You stood near the window, wrapped in blanket layers, trying your best to close the window. Holding on for dear life, you thankfully managed to accomplish the task, shutting the curtains as well. You slowly kneeled, trying to regain the warmth. Finally, after a good solid minute, you looked up, glaring at your boyfriend, who seemed to be shivering as badly as you were. Shaking your head, you slowly took baby steps towards your bed, wanting to just find a stable place again. You immediately sat beside your boyfriend, holding your blanket closer. "It's so fucking cold!" "Stop fucking cursing damn!" you stared at him in disbelief, as he just gave you a guilty smile. "Stop lecturing me, this is not the fucking time!" you said sulking, remembering about the broken heater again. The heater was doing just fine as you remembered, you even got it fixed a week ago. How did it end up breaking even after you got it fixed? That must have been your dumbest question, considering that the heater is 5 yrs old and you still stood on your 'save money agenda. Maybe you did go a bit too far with it...
You sighed at the situation, going through ALL the stages of grief right now. "Why are you sulking now? Aren't you the one who said we should be using this heater even when I said that we need a new one? You went 'sAvIng mOney' " Jeongin spoke, looking at you, sulking as well. You gasped at him mocking you, even though everything he said was right. You just hated defeat. "NOW YOU ARE BLAMING ME? YOU SPEND MONEY ON MOST UNNECESSARY SHIT!" you spat, refusing to back out without a fight, and obviously, he fought back. "THAT'S DIFFERENT!"
And there you both went, bickering for 15 minutes straight, throwing insults from 'half-cooked sausage!' to 'you got no ass'!
You both sighed, getting tired from all the bickering. "I give up." "Same." you both once again covered yourselves, closer to the blankets, shivering from the cold. You stared at the wall blankly hoping that an idea to reduce the cold would pop up, and it did! Your face lit up as you turned towards Jeongin, only for your smile to be by a confused expression. Jeongin was singing trot songs...? He was singing so passionately, while he had his eyes closed. You chuckled a bit, as you tapped him slowly. "What?" he said, not paying attention. "I have an idea to reduce the cold!" That sentence alone was enough for him to turn his attention towards you. "What is it?" he said, his eyes wide and full of hope. "Cuddling," you said, with puppy eyes, looking at him. He stared for a good solid second before speaking... "Really...GENIUS!" he said as you both squealed, hugging only for the next second to wrap yourselves into the blankets from the cold. You both got up as you set your blankets in layers while shivering from the cold. When it was done, Jeongin immediately set himself under the layers of blankets and you did the same. You both hugged as he spooned you. You smiled at the warmth, and maybe the fact that his chest was more comfortable than any pillow. "This is warm," he said as you just hummed.
Again as always, luck wasn't on your side. As the time passed by, the warmth you both felt decreased, once again bringing things back to square one. "Looks like this plan failed too" you sighed, as Jeongin pulled you closer as a sign of comfort "It's okay, we will find another". You exhaled loudly, being stressed. You glanced at the clock, as it showed 7:00 pm. You let out a frustrated groan, as the time seemed to not be moving at all. Meanwhile, Jeongin was in deep thoughts, going through a mind map of the house, thinking of every corner. His thoughts came to an end as he jolted up squealing, forgetting the cold. You flinched at the sudden movement and ended up hitting the surface of the bed. Groaning at the sudden impact, you sat straight immediately, grabbing the blankets near you before giving a solid whack on Jeongin's head. "WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT FOR?" he groaned, as he immediately settled himself beside you forgetting the hit or so you thought. He mentally made a note of the hit before speaking.
"I remembered something that can help us..." "What are you even- WAIT WHAT!?" you screamed, giving him your complete attention. You looked at him with sparkling eyes as he spoke "So you remember the antique fest we went to last year?" "Yes I do, what about it...?" you spoke, a bit unsure, until it suddenly hit you, immediately making you shake your head to refuse. "No Jeongin, no way in the world we will be using it! " "Come on, it's the only way we have '' he said, giving you pleading eyes but you stood firm on your words as you refused, speaking "That's an antique piece, Jeongin, it's a 10-year-old one. Remember we bought it because you wanted to collect old rare pieces and we never can trust those pieces since they might cause trouble for us?" "Just once let's try it's far better than having to die in the cold temperature!" he whined, going on with his reasons to use it, while you were just concerned. You flinched as he stood up out of nowhere holding his hand out for you. "Honey! Trust your lovely boyfriend." *crickets* It was dead silent as you looked straight into his eyes. Seeing no reaction from you, he immediately bent on his toes looking at you with the most innocent eyes with a frown on his face. You sighed, knowing what was about to happen. "Honey...just one little favor for your poor boyfriend who just wants-" you cut him off, not being able to resist those baby eyes. I mean, it's Yang Jeongin after all. "Fine," you said, as he instantly jumped straight once again grinning, holding his hand out for you. You just chuckled, as you stood up from bed wearing your slippers.
You both made your way towards the basement.
"Jeongin, are you sure we need to go in at this time?" you said, as your body froze at the dark place no different from a haunted house. "In Jeongin you trust honey!" you nodded hesitantly, as he turned toward the basement with a smile only for it to drop as he saw the dark place. He gulped as he turned on the flashlight. "Aren't we going in ?" he flinched at your voice making you flinch as well? "Y-yes we are. I am just checking the flashlight" he said, as you nodded as well letting out an 'ah'. He once again turned towards the basement door as he took baby steps towards it. He slowly opened it with his other free hand. The door opened, making a creaky sound just making the situation worse adding to his fear. He peeked in before going further into the room. You observed Jeongin who was shaking from fear and you being you, wanting to scare him a bit more, you took a step forward as you blew a soft breeze near his ear only for it to backfire miserably. Your face was met by a huge hand followed by a dolphin scream as you just fell straight into the boxes making a huge noise. Meanwhile, Jeongin, who accidentally backed on the wall hit his head on the switchboard, turning on the basement lights.
Jeongin let out a sign before widening his eyes at the muffled noises and turning his head towards the floor. "Oh my god my girlfriend!" he pushed the boxes away as he made you sit straight. You coughed at the dust, with mixed pain on your face. You soon came to your senses as you glared at your boyfriend who almost looked terrified looking at your face, "Why are you looking at me like that?" you furrowed your eyebrows, as he immediately spoke, "NOTHING! Absolutely nothing." you were about to speak again, but he cut you off by pushing the boxes away beside you revealing a bright red heater.
You and Jeongin stood in the hallway blankly staring at the heater placed on the floor in front of you guys. It looked bright red, almost perfect. Too suspicious for you. Jeongin on other hand was too lost in his thoughts plotting his escape route from you knowing well what happens once this fails. He let out a sigh, before lifting the heater and carrying it towards your bedroom. Once again, your concern was back as you caught up to him before speaking. "Jeongin, are you sure? Let's just think one more time" he slowly turned towards you, having a smirk with an eyebrow raised. He spoke in a deep voice "Honey trust me" you stared at him as you spoke "If something goes wrong..." you cracked your knuckles as you made your way towards the room, he gulped at the thought, following you along.
He placed the heater down on the floor beside the socket as he kneeled down to set it up. You just stood beside him, observing his actions. He dusted it off as you moved towards the mirror, coming to a sudden stop. You have fingerprints imprinted on your face, looking red. You gasped as you turned towards jeongin who already plugged in the wire and turned it on but he seemed to be terrified as he immediately stood up, grabbing you with him far away from the heater. Soon enough you saw the heater turn off with a huge spark and the final step, was a power cut. At that moment, Jeongin knew he fucked up badly. "YANG JEONGIN!" you screamed, soon followed by his dolphin scream.
There you stood at your power main fixing the fuse as Jeongin held the flashlight for you. His eyes looked red as his hair defied gravity and his ears looked red.
A real fight indeed went down.
You soon somehow struggled as you fixed the fuse, you slowly placed it back into the socket before turning the switch on, as lights came back to life.
you stood in front of him as you glared at him one last time before walking away to sit on the couch, wrapping yourself with the blankets and turning the TV on to distract yourself from the cold.
Jeongin sighed before lifting his head only to be faced by the guest room. His eyes widened as an idea popped in his head again, this time not wanting to mess up, he immediately ran towards the bedroom to grab his coat and phone. He almost flew down the flight of stairs as he ran down. "HONEY I AM GOING OUT ! '' he yelled, going out and shutting the door, even before you could ask him where.
It had been 1 hour since Jeongin went out. Now you are worried. As you are about to reach your phone to make a call the door bursts open, revealing a tired Jeongin with two black bags. He put down the bags as you stood confused. Once again before you could ask him about the bags, he cut you off speaking, "Honey prepare some snacks for us . I will prepare this and call you . Don't ask what it is . Now goooo" he pushed you towards the kitchen as he went back to the living room after smiling at you. You shook your head worried and curious about what he was doing. You heard his footsteps going back and forth all over the house making you more curious. Soon your worry grew as it fell silent. You took out the pizza from the oven and placed it on the tray. you quickly made your way towards the living room. "Jeongin I am done, where are you..?" you spoke as you didn't find him in the living room as you were about to call his name again, the door to the guest room opened revealing Jeongin. "What are you doing there?" you asked as he turned towards you. "You will see, now give me the tray and follow me!" he said, smiling as he made his way towards the guest room again.
"Jeongin you didn't plan to do some voodoo shit ri-" you stopped in your tracks, gasping at the sight in the room. Blankets were arranged all over the place, making the place look comfortable enough to lay and cuddle. A laptop was set with multiple movies to watch. Last, but not least the fire pit was lit up, with firewood giving the warmth you need for the night. Everything just looked right and cozy. "How is it?" Jeongin spoke, gaining your attention. You turned towards him, cupping his cheeks before saying "It looks so cozy and awesome!". You hugged him, staying there for a minute as he returned the hug. "Sorry for earlier," you said, refusing to leave the hug. "I am sorry too," he said, before pecking your lips as you both giggled.
You both made yourselves comfortable cuddling into the sheets before playing the movie ."Let's not do such experiments again" you said while watching the movie. "It was fun though, we should do this more-" " Unless you want me to throw your antique collection off the second floor, we can do it again...honey" you looked at him, smirking as you finished your sentence. "Ah, honey I am joking of course" Jeongin laughed awkwardly, slightly hitting you on the shoulder. His smile fell as you looked him dead in the eye before you both burst out laughing. Soon the night was filled with laughter and giggles. That's how the crazy winter day ended- with a lovely night.
