The following few months go by pretty fast as I try to settle back into my normal life routine, I also picked up a class on self-defense as Kadachi begins work again, His father took back charge in the company until Kadachi was ready to return which made it easier for Kadachi to return.
I smile, feeling better knowing Kadachi is ok with work and lean back into the leather chair making it squeak. The woman in front of me hands me a sheet of paper.
"Try these at home in your alone time when you feel at your safest and after a while when you're ready you will remember, now it's not one hundred percent guaranteed-"
I interrupt her.
"I know, but it's a start. Thank you for helping me!"
She smiles back at me.
"I'm happy to help, but if you ever need me especially after you remember everything just know I'm only one phone call away."
I nod while standing up.
"Thank you, I hope you have a good day!"
I walk out of the building and enter the car parked on the curb, Kota looks up in the rearview mirror.
"Where to now Mrs. Kairi?"
I stared out of the window watching a bird pick at the ground.
"Home is fine."
Kota starts the car up and begins to drive.
"Master Kadachi said, Mr. Masumi will be joining us for dinner tonight did you want to stop by some shops to get a new outfit?"
I look up in the rear view mirror to see Kota's eyes glimmering.
(He's trying to make me feel better, it looks like he's been crying he must feel worried...I should just say yes and maybe it'll put him at ease.)
I force myself to smile.
"Sure we can do that first then."
I see him smile with joy.
"Good! We will go now then!"
He drives me to a few shops and after about an hour I sigh and sit back into the seat.
"Ok Kota I'm feeling really tired now, lets's go home please!"
Kota smirks.
"Of course madam."
(It's been a long day, I just want to lay in my bed and sleep!)
Once home I step into the house laying my purse on the end table I take my shoes off and slip my house shoes on, I then pick up the mail off the end table and flip through it as I walk into my bedroom to sit on the bed.
"Junk, Junk...Huh?"
I set the other mail aside as I inspect the envelope. It was blank except for having my name on the front, I open it and pull out a thick stack of papers, my eyes lock on the first page, a picture of me with a red 'X' on it was the first paper, I hear a knock on the door and quickly set the papers inside the desk, Just as I close the drawer in walks one of the maids.
"Madam, Dinner is ready for you."
I nod and she exits.
(I should hurry up and get dressed I'll deal with this later.)
(Kadachi Pov)
Kaito sits quietly sipping on his wine as I do the same.
(Seeing that Kaito requested this meeting and wouldn't tell me why it probably has something to do with Kairi's background.)
I clear my throat and Kaito gives me a side glance as he takes another sip of his wine.
"Masters, Mrs. Kairi will be down momentarily."
I nod as she goes to refill the wine.
"Let Kota know to be ready later, well be leaving tomorrow morning."
The maid bows before walking away and Kaito raises an eyebrow at me.
"It's only been merely a few months and you're already planning a vacation? Don't you think it would be too soon for her?"
I stare at him coldly for a few seconds before finally replying.
"At least it's better than what you came here for, you do realize that today is her Birth-"
Just then the doors open and in walks Kairi, she greets us before sitting down next to me which puts Kaito in front of her.
I give the maid a look and then clear my voice.
"Have Kota bring in the wine when he gets the chance."
I feel a buzzing in my pocket and pull out my phone to see an Unknown caller ID.
(Hmm?)
I look up at Kairi to see her staring off into the distance with a blank stare, I then turn towards Kaito who also seemed to notice her standoffish aura.
"I have to get this, give me a minute and I'll be right back."
She seems to snap back into reality at that moment and smiles looking a bit flustered.
"Oh ok take your time!"
I nod and answer the phone before closing the four behind me.
"Who is this?
I hear a weird-sounding voice of a man chuckle.
"Hah, well it seems you truly are still on guard dog mode."
(It's a guy, but why is he using a voice changer?)
"Cut the crap and answer my question or I'm hanging up."
I hear a sigh on the other end followed by a short pause.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you, you see it's come to my attention that you and I share a similar goal-"
I cut him off.
"Who gives a crap I'm hanging up now-"
He cuts me off.
"Tell Kairi I said happy birthday and I'll see her soon then."
My heart feels as if it stopped for a moment and I grit my teeth.
"Who are you?"
The man chuckles again.
"You can call me knight, for now, that is until we can earn each other's trust, I'll go first so you can see that what I'm about to say is one hundred percent true, what do you say, are you open for a discussion?"
I clench my fist.
(He might have information about my mother and Kairi, I haven't found a single lead anywhere else...I have to take this chance.)
I sigh before finally speaking.
"Fine, but we meet alone and I choose the place, I can't talk right now and need to get back."
Knight chuckles.
"Good that's very good, I'll send my number to you after this call."
(Kairi pov)
Kaito and I laugh as we listen to one of Kota's latest run-ins with one of his crazy exes
"And then she threw herself on the floor and started acting like she was hurt when she was the one who pushed me! Geez, the dirty looks I got after that, I ended up getting tomatoes thrown at me by onlookers!"
We laugh as a piece of tomato just so happens to drip off his shoulder and onto the floor. Kaito stands up and pats Kota on the shoulder.
"Maybe you should re-evaluate your dating life, the girls you've been picking up seem a little...Psychotic...to say the least."
We both laugh again and Kota chuckles.
"Yeah, maybe your right...Anyway, I'm gonna go get cleaned up."
Just as Kota opens the door Kadachi walks in, Kadachi smirks as Kota looks even more flustered.
"One of your crazy exes again?"
Kota crosses his arms trying to look serious.
"Don't even ask I already got laughed at by these two and the maids!"
Kadachi chuckles a little before taking his seat next to me.
"Alright, let's dig in now."
Kaito smirks.
"Kairi, how old are you turning today?"
I look up at him in confusion.
"Huh? What do you mean?"
Kota chuckles along with Kaito, I look over at Kadachi who is also smirking. He flicks my head.
"Dummy, it's your birthday today."
I gasp before looking up at the calendar on the wall, my birthday was marked I could instantly tell by who as I look at the handwriting.
(Mrs. Sheng...Even right now...You are still here taking care of me.)
I smile as a few stray tears roll down my cheeks, I feel Kadachi touch my cheek.
"Kairi you ok?"
I look at him, his handsome smile makes my heart skip. I smile back at him.
(These people in my life, they are so...good to me.)
"Yeah, thank you all so much, I can't believe I have completely forgotten haha! I'm nineteen today!"
