(Kairi Pov)
As my eyes flutter open I weakly looked around to see no one around me, I hear a continuous sound of beeping that reminded me of something.
*Beep, Beep,Beep*
(That sound...)
*Beep, Beep, Beep.*
(Mom, it was her machine...right before she passed away, but why is everything so blurry? Why can't I remember anything after her passing?)
Just then a nurse walks in and is stunned for a second before finally smiling warmly at me.
"Oh how wonderful! You have woken you it's nice to see you again Mrs. Sheng!"
I try to talk but my voice wouldn't come out, I place my hand over my throat.
"Oh dear."
She sits down on the bed next to me and takes my hand into hers.
"Your throat was hurt but is still healing, you may not be able to speak for a while until then though. Do you remember what happened?"
I stare at her innocently and shake my head.
"You were in a car accident."
We hear a man's voice and both of us look up to see Kadachi standing in the doorway of the room, I couldn't help but smile as the nurse stands up and he walks over to me taking my hand in his.
"Give me a second to talk to the nurse real quick and ill be right back, I'm right outside the door ok."
I nod as the both of them walk out closing the door behind them.
(Kadachi pov.)
"You realize lying to her will end up backfiring against you, Mr. Sheng! Once she recalls her memories-"
I interrupt her.
"IF she recalls her memories, she's been through enough. I'm afraid that if she figures out what truly happened to her...Shell be broke forever, so much so that I myself won't even be able to put her back together..."
The nurse sighs and places a hand on my shoulder.
"She's a lot stronger than you think hun, but if you do keep this from her and she never remembers, she can live a happy life. I'd love to see that too. But that's naive to think that way...i hope you can deal with the backfire if she remembers."
I clench my fist as she walks away.
"I know I can."
(It's been 2 months since the incident and we aren't any closer to finding out who did this, I have suspected but...whoever did this knew how to cover his tracks.)
I sigh and lean my back up against the door.
(The week after she fell into a coma...our baby died and she lost an ovary due to damage when she wants a family she's going to be devastated.)
I clench my fist.
(My mother's death, my wife has a target on her back...All of these things...I feel like I could have prevented!)
"Master Kadachi?"
I look up to see Kota.
"Aye, Kota can you stand out here to watch, Kairi woke up, and id like to spend some time with her."
Kota nods happily.
"Sure thing!"
(Yuki pov)
(A car accident? But where was I going and everyone else ok?)
As so many thoughts ran through my head while unable to speak I sulk stuck in my predicament.
Just then the door opens and in walks, Kadachi holding a whiteboard and red dry erase marker, I smile as he hands it to me.
"You looked worried when I walked in are you ok?"
As I go to use the marker and write the Y the red streaks sent a painful flashback to me of my hand being covered in blood. I instantly drop the marker and board freaked out.
(W-What was that image, that pain, the feeling-)
I feel Kadachi embrace me and in a gentle tone he softly whispers into my ear.
"It's ok calm down, I'm right here, whatever it is your seeing your here right now and not their."
(For some reason as if even my mind can't comprehend what he's saying but my body does and is feeling so much relief from his words. A warm and gentle feeling of being in his arms it makes me feel better even if I can't remember.)
I let my body relax into his embrace, after a minute he pulls away and grabs a tissues to clean up my tears.
"There, now would you like to try to write again?"
I nod.
After a few seconds I show him what I wrote and he reads it allowed.
"Did anyone else get hurt?"
Kadachi smiles at me gently before rubbing my head.
"No just you, we were teaching you to drive when it happened."
I sigh in relief.
(That's good what a relief!)
Just then we hear a knock on the door and a Dr walks in.
"Well hello there sleeping beauty! You gave us quite the scare ya know but we're so happy to see your doing good, it was brought to my attention by my nurse that you would like to be transferred back to home?"
I look at Kadachi who in return looks at the Dr.
"Yeah, upon agreement of when you woke up and if you were doing ok after a few minor tests then you can go home am I right?"
Kadachi sighs.
"Yeah I remember, but I didn't expect you to come this quickly, I mean she only just woke up about 15 minutes ago!"
The Dr laughs.
"I didn't say the tests would be right now! And besides, it's not up to either one of us anyway, it's her final say on what she wants to do."
He points to me and I blush a little.
(ummmmmm)
I write down my thoughts on the whiteboard and turn it over where the Dr read it allowed.
"I would like to do the tests tomorrow at the latest, but I still have a lot of questions too."
The Dr nods and smiles.
"Of course! I will be happy to answer any and all questions I can but first I need to go check on a couple more patients and talk with your husband about expenses, so well be right back."
I nod and they walk out, as I'm left to my thoughts something unsettling was buried within as I recall the vision I had earlier.
(I feel like my brain is full of fog.)
As I lay back down and place my hand onto my stomach I feel a bandage, I lift my shirt a little to see a bandage covering my lower abdomen and sigh a dreadful sigh as I lean back into my pillow lowering my shirt.
I silently laugh at my stupidity while covering my eyes with my hand.
(I bet they think I'm a complete idiot, Their is no way what they said happened actually happened.)
I pull the blankets back and perch myself onto the wall, Walking felt weird but I managed to guide myself to the bathroom where I lock the door and stand in front of the long mirror that was on the back of the door.
(If they lied...I'm sure they did it to protect me but...I need to know the truth for myself.)
I take a deep breath and let it out slowly before finally taking my clothes off to examine my own body.
At first glance I notice a few scratches that were nearly completely healed except three on both of my upper thighs, I place my hand over them as flashbacks rush to my head.
A man on top of me with a ski mask. Startled by the realization of what I had actually went through I accidentally stumble backwards knocking off a glass vase and shattering it, I quickly throw on a robe and start trying to pick up the pieces.
(Who was that and what all did he do to me?)
I could feel my fingers tremble as I try to pick up the peaces of glass.
'(I cant clean this up like this, I'll have to tell a nurse...)
I stand back up and open the door to see a worried Kadachi about to knock on it, He looked at me in a bit of shock then at the glass below me.
"What happened did you get cut?"
I shake my head and he quickly scoops me up in his arms.
"Ok good then let's get you back in bed."
He sets me down on the bed as a nurse walks in.
"Goodness Mr. Sheng arent you a strong fella huh! Haha, Now that I have you both here I've come to change Mrs. Sheng's bandages."
I tense up at that moment realizing they will know I went snooping in just a few moments, I gulp and try to quickly think up of an excuse but Kadachi clears his throat first.
"Actually, theirs some glass in the bathroom right now, We had a little accident just a moment ago could you take care of that first while I talk to my wife."
The nurse smiles so big.
"Of course! Take your time and I'll deal with this, and I'm glad to see you both are alright!"
Kadachi closes the curtains to give us a little privacy before he finally sits down on the bed in front of me grabbing my hand to hold it, I look up at him as he looks up at me too with a gentle yet unsettling gaze.
(I have a feeling he already sees right through me...)
"Why are you trembling?"
I tense up at the question and narrow my eyes away from him.
(I don't know what to say to him, I don't even know how to feel right now much less talk about what I just remembered.)
I bite my lower lip as I linger in my thoughts, I didn't realize I had drew blood until I feel Kadachi touch my lip with his finger, My eyes snap over to meet his gaze, He was looking at me with sad eyes which hurt me even more, I move away from his touch and he sighs.
(I cant...I need time to think I need time to process this so that I won't catch him in the crossfire, He already has so much going on, His mother passed away and then this happens to me, I can't imagine how he's handling all of this. I don't want to be selfish but-)
My train of thought was cut off by Kadachi pulling me into a hug and whispering into my ear.
"Your overthinking right now aren't you? I can see it in your face your afraid to tell me something aren't you?"
As if something was lifted off my shoulders just by his words and his voice I feel uncontrollable tears rush down my cheeks and couldn't help but nod to answer him hiding my face in the crease of his shoulder and neck feeling very ashamed.
I feel him hug me tighter.
"If you are not ready it's ok, But don't overdo it for yourself you just woke up and I'll always be right by your side ready to listen whenever you feel like it."
I feel him kiss my head as I silently sob. We stay like this for awhile until I feel myself drift off into a comfortable sleep in his arms.
(Kadachi pov)
Once I feel her fall asleep I lay her down and clean her face before finally pulling the blanket over her. When I finally pull the curtains back the nurse from before walks out of the bathroom holding a shovel full of broken glass.
"Oh it seems she fell asleep, It's ok I can do It and promise she wont wake up with mys skills!"
I could feel a sweat drop form on my forehead and step aside as she dumps the glass into the trash.
"Ok son move on over and I will be out of your hair very soon!"
I move aside as she puts on some gloves and gets the new bandages ready, As she pulls back the blankets and undoes her robe we both stand there in a bit of shock to see all of her bandages were gone.
(So that's why she went into the bathroom, She has a sharper intuition than I thought, She must already know what happened then and that's why she wouldn't talk to me.)
"Oh my, it seems she already took them off, Oh well I'll just apply some medicine and put the new ones on now! just don't allow her to take this one off till I come by tomorrow."
I stay silent as she finish's bandaging Kairi, Once she was done she leaves closing the door behind her, I clench my fist.
(I have to take her away from all of this, even if it means...handing over the family business to one of my siblings.)
