Chapter 33 - Druin take over

The cavern's darkness consumed him, the red glow from the fungi was the only light source in the cave. The damp air filled his lungs as he awoke from the place he had been lying, the hard ground full of jagged rocks greeted his face and body.

He slowly stood up trying to see around him. He could not remember what had happened in the previous day. He noticed the light above him, the only familiar thing he could see. He knew that glow, he had seen it as a child when he would sneak out of his room to admire it, it was the glow of an Aos. He had sat under the light of it on the mantle place covered in fungi while his father slept the. Three prongs and blood red design looked different on this one though, it looked more angry, the points like talons on the end of the prongs. The end had a point and the body in between was a jagged mess.

'How come this one looks different to Fathers' he wondered in his half awake haze, before he finally awoke enough to remember this one was crude and angry because that is the conditions it was made under. He had needed it fast and thus it was crude.

The blood of his fallen brethren had made the blades and the point, the anger had lingered in the metal.

The resulting metal looked cold and mean.

Razolath was tired and angry, he was not sure what he could do apart from wadge war.

He slowly stood up and walked to the Aos on the wall. He pulled it free from the fungi, the sides of the mycelium clung to the sides of the bident.

Looking around the cavern Razolath could now see his surroundings better with the light of the fungi slowly flowing onto the ship that looked completely different to the alien craft he had brought in before he slept. The fungi had changed the alien ship into something more Druin. The slike sides of the craft, the black of the metal that shimmered when skin came into contact with it, the inside slimy, humid and hot, the ship was housing a fungi fruit that would allow the fungi to survive.

The inside was red and black, the fungi a silent, living partner that carried on his civilization and his race that had died on this planet, a planet they had changed, made colder and better the plants that were brought along were plants from the home world. This new planet was a hotter version of the home world.

The ship whirled to life, the fungi slowly lighting up the mycelium along the ship, shifting the light moving down the long strands of mycelium coming from the fruit to the consol.

Razolath ran his hand along the fungi, enjoying the feeling of the mycelium. The wet feeling that seemed to reach out to welcome his touch. In his other hand he plunged the Aos into the main part of the console and the ship finally finished roaring to life.

The light pulsed up the trident and into his hand and slowly Razolath felt his eyes rolling back into his skull and the fungi enter his mind. In the dark space he saw a red version of the system he was currently in, areas of the map where coloured green and blue. The blue was occupied by humans the green areas where Druin occupied with a large light showing the closest Druin outpost.

"I hope the data is not out of date by now" If that outpost was taken over there would be no hope for him.

When Razolath had made up his mind he felt his hand slowly reaching out, he could not see it in his mind but he could feel it drawing near the green light. When he placed his hand on the light he was suddenly back in the ship looking out of the front.

The ships' engines slowly revved and the whole ship started to shake. Razolath aimed the main cannons onto the side of the cavern he had filled in for this very purpose.

The red light pulsed on the front of the main cannons and the rubble blew away and the light from the outside flooded into the cavern. The ship shot out of the cavern at frightening speed.

"Fuck, this better hold together" yelled Razolath over the engines that were in full spin by now.

The shoddy ship cobbled together from the human and Druin technology held until he broke out of the atmosphere.

A gigantic ship was suddenly in front of his ship. He pulled sharply to the side and managed to miss the ship by a hair when as suddenly as it appeared, the ship tuned onto him, the cannons tracking the small ship that was cruising though the void of space.

The cannons fired and Razolath narrowly dodged as he held on hard, hoping both the ship would not fall apart nor would he from the gravitational force on his body. He was out of the atmosphere but not free from the gravity of the planet, not just yet.

The cannons continued firing over and over. Razolath managed to dodge all of the cannon's fire until he managed to put the smaller lunar bodies around the planet in the way of him and the larger ship.

His ship was small and fast compared to the large behemoth of a ship the humans used.

The gravity of the planet had become almost nothing and allowed Razolath to move even faster until the fungi suddenly pulled his mind back into the black. A path in red was highlighted around certain planets in an arching trajectory.

Before he had made it even further from the planet, Razolath saw something that made him sigh in relief. The fungi showed on the screen a small object before it zoomed in, a string of numbers accompanied the object.

"447368"

"A cruiser class vessel, fuck yeah. They are investigating the outpost, finally" said Razolath as he hailed the vessel on the outskirts of the system.

"Hailing Cruiser 447368. This is Razolath a Vizier from outpost 73 in the fourth system, open hail on"

"What vessel are you currently piloting Vizier Razolath. It is unknown and the building looks un-Druin"

'un-Druin what a thought, they are not wrong though' though Razolath to himself.

"The vessel I am piloting is a temporary vessel made from a human flying ship. The Humans have taken over the outpost, all Druin on the planet dead or unaccounted for"

"How did you survive Vizier? Did you not complete your duty to protect the civilians"

"I was missed, incapacitated and somehow survived" Razolath lied through his pointed teeth.

"Copy, number of Humans?"

"Unknown amount, enough to pilot a Kbeer size ship and to decimate the outpost with ground troops"

"Halt vessel advancement and wait for a reply. We will communicate this to the elders"

"As ordered" replied Razolath before he shut of the communication.

They doubt I am a Vizier probably because I am alive and not dead like I should be.
