Boom...Boom
In the world of Adles one could hear multiple explosions,screams and the occasional hyper blast or energy beam.yep a war was going on... A war against superhumans or Gifted if you asked the Natives. If you were a bird or a superhuman with the ability to fly, you would see countless bodies on the ground with people running over them. whether they were an enemy, comrade or a frightened civilian didn't matter.The bodies of these soldiers were being treated like stepping stones.
Boom...
But six or so miles away from the main battle the scene was entirely different. In a park, more like the remains of a park. where most of the trees were completely destroyed and the rest dead with no signs of life left in them at all. within a cluster of these trees was a small clearing and within this clearing stood people, about ninety or so crammed together.
smack...smack...
At the head of this Group with about twenty feet separating him from the rest sat a man on a boulder munching on jelly beans.
seemingly unaware about the battle and explosions that were happening just a few miles from where he sat. And surprisingly despite the explosions, the only thing that could be heard within this clearing was this middle aged mans chewing.
Chew...chew
After popping a green jelly bean in his mouth and savoring the flavor for a moment the middle aged man known as Gideon looked up at the crowd and spoke.
"Hey there people. Let me tell you a story. About thirty years ago four months after the sixth or seventh resource war against Gifted Humans much like the one were sitting through right now as we speak. A bunch of bastards in space lets call them invaders for simplicity's sake."
"took notice of the condition of Adles and decided that invading after the war would be a good choice, and boy were they right, they decimated us. they destroyed fifty cities and kidnapped millions before humans even got the chance to retaliate. The war between humans and invaders lasted twenty years before a few old monster's came out of hiding and was able to push them back."
Gideon popped a few more jelly beans before speaking again.
"The point of this sto..."
" Ayy weren't you just a Donkey during that war why are you acting like your someone important."
Said an ignorant and arrogant teen within the crowd.
Gideon couldn't help but chuckle before swiftly throwing a red cherry flavored jelly bean at the young man's forehead.
"Hehe. Kid listen carefully. War is War. It doesn't matter whether you're a General or an ammunition carrier you're still in a war risking you're life everyday someway somehow and sadly..."
Gideons usual calm and nonchalant voice suddenly turned cold while staring at the young man.
" Nobody that was in the war against the invaders came out of it without taking a few lives be it friend or foe."
The now sweating teen could only stare at his feet when he heard the very serious words of Gideon.
Gideon seeing that he was able to talk some sense into the naive kid smiled, before tossing a few more jelly beans in his mouth and preceding to talk.
" Like i was saying the whole point of this story is that the invaders were PUSHED BACK!! Not annihilated and like the bastards did after the last resource war, im pretty sure the invaders will be attacking again after this one."
" Gasp"
In the crowd some gasped some scoffed while some were dead silent.
Gideon looked at the crowd before putting the lid to his jar of jelly beans back on and placing the slim jar back into his jacket pocket and gently jumping off of the boulder onto the ground. He then spoke again in his usual calm tone.
" Don't worry people i have a plan."
Gideon said with a slight smile on his face.
