Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: THE THRONE BREAKER

The silence before the boss chamber was different. It wasn't empty. It was waiting. Lee Hyun stood at the edge of the cavern, his gaze steady as the faint, heavy breathing from within echoed outward like a warning. The air carried a suffocating density, far beyond anything he had experienced so far in the dungeon.

"…Before I go in…"

His eyes flickered slightly.

"Status."

The panel appeared once more, stable and clear. He didn't hesitate. His focus shifted directly to the remaining points.

Free Attribute Points: 65

"…Distribute."

This time, he didn't put everything into luck. He had learned. Experience mattered. Balance mattered. Survival mattered. His mind moved quickly, calculating.

"…Strength, stamina, agility… and luck."

The points began to distribute. Not randomly. But precisely.

Strength increased first—his offensive core. Then stamina—his endurance. Agility—his speed and reaction. And finally—Luck. Because even now… He knew. It mattered.

When the distribution ended, a subtle shift ran through his entire body. His muscles tightened slightly, his breathing stabilized further, and his senses sharpened to a new level.

"…Good."

No hesitation remained. He stepped forward. The moment he crossed into the cavern, the world darkened. The ground cracked beneath his step, a deep, resonating sound echoing through the space.

Then, it appeared. From the darkness. Slowly. Massively. A creature far larger than anything he had faced before emerged into view. Its body was covered in thick, blackened armor-like hide, layered like natural plating. Two massive horns curved upward from its skull, jagged and cracked, glowing faintly with dark energy. Its eyes burned. Not with rage. But with awareness. Intelligence.

[Boss Detected: Dreadhorn Abyssal Behemoth]

[Level: 15]

A faint pause.

"…Level 15…"

For the first time, Lee Hyun felt it. The gap. Not in theory. But in reality. The creature stepped forward. The ground shook. A low growl echoed, deep and heavy, vibrating through the air itself.

[Boss Traits Identified]

— Abyssal Armor: Reduces incoming physical damage significantly

— Crushing Dominance: Area-based shockwave attacks

— Predator Instinct: Tracks movement and predicts patterns

— Regenerative Core: Gradual recovery over time

"…So it's not just strong…"

"…It's built for combat."

The next moment, It moved. Fast. Too fast for its size. The massive body surged forward, its claw crashing down toward him with overwhelming force. Lee Hyun reacted instantly, his body moving to the side as the attack struck the ground—

BOOM.

The impact shattered stone, sending debris flying in all directions.

"…That would've crushed me…"

No time to think. The second attack came immediately. A sweeping strike. He raised his sword—

CLANG.

The force behind it was overwhelming. His body was thrown back, sliding across the ground as his arms absorbed the shock.

"…This is different…"

Not like the others. Not even close. He steadied himself. Then he moved. The Dragon Blade Dance activated instantly, his body flowing into motion as he closed the distance again. His blade struck against the creature's side. But it didn't cut deep.

"…Its defense…"

Too high. The beast roared. A pulse of energy erupted from its body, a shockwave. Lee Hyun barely reacted in time, crossing his arms as the force hit him head-on, throwing him back once again.

His breath staggered.

"…Damn…"

The gap wasn't just in level. It was in existence. The fight continued. Relentless. Brutal. Every exchange pushed him further. Every attack forced him to adapt faster. He dodged. Struck. Retreated. Advanced. But he was at a disadvantage. His attacks were effective, but not decisive.

The beast's regeneration slowly repaired the damage he dealt. Its movements became sharper, more precise, adapting to his rhythm.

"…It's learning me…"

His breathing grew heavier. His body, despite his stats, began to feel the strain. A claw grazed his side. Another struck his shoulder. Each hit not fatal, but accumulating.

"…So this is what it means…"

"To fight something stronger."

For the first time since entering the dungeon, he was being pushed back. The beast roared again. This time, different. Energy gathered around its horns, dark and violent.

"…Skill…"

The ground trembled. Then, it charged. Straight toward him. Unstoppable. Lee Hyun's eyes widened slightly.

"…No time to dodge…"

He raised his sword. And met it. The impact, exploded. His body was thrown back violently, crashing into the cavern wall, the air knocked from his lungs as pain surged through his entire body.

For a moment, everything went silent.

"…So this is… defeat…?"

His grip weakened slightly. His body felt heavy. Too heavy. The beast approached slowly, its steps echoing like the end of something inevitable. But, his eyes didn't close.

"…No."

His grip tightened again.

"…Not here."

Not now. Not after everything. Not after coming this far. Then he felt it. A pulse. From his sword. The Demon's Sword. It was charging.

The energy within it gathered, deeper, heavier, more violent than before. Crimson energy began to flow along its blade, pulsing like a heartbeat.

"…This…"

His eyes sharpened.

"…Now."

He stood. Despite the pain. Despite the damage. He stood. The beast roared and charged again. But this time, Lee Hyun didn't retreat. He moved forward.

The Dragon Blade Dance activated, not defensively, but completely offensively. His body flowed with everything he had, every ounce of strength, speed, and control poured into a single motion.

The blade rose. The energy peaked. Everything, focused into one strike.

"…Finish it."

The moment collided. The blade descended.

CRACK.

The impact shattered the air itself. The ground split. The beast's charge stopped. Then, A line appeared across its body. For a brief moment, nothing happened. Then, the energy erupted. The beast's armor broke. Its body split. And it collapsed. Silence followed. Heavy. Absolute.

Lee Hyun stood still. Breathing. Barely. Then the system appeared.

[Boss Defeated]

[Dungeon Cleared]

A surge of energy flooded into him. Stronger than before. Deeper.

[Level Up!]

[Level Up!]

[Level Up!]

His body stabilized instantly, the pain fading, the fatigue vanishing as his strength rose once more.

"…Level 10…"

He exhaled slowly. His grip on the sword loosened slightly.

"…I won."

Not easily. Not cleanly. But, he won. And that.. was enough. His gaze lifted toward the fading dungeon space. Calm. Sharp. Evolving.
