Just as Coulson braced himself, Su Mu continued, his voice smooth and unhurried.
"However, our relationship won't be that of a subordinate and a superior. It will be a partnership. You will pay me the appropriate compensation, and I will assist you with missions."
Su Mu heavily emphasized the word "compensation." He had already made up his mind: the exact moment his Energy Absorption leveled up enough to handle the infinite output of an Infinity Stone, he was going to waltz straight into SHIELD headquarters and take the Space Stone.
After all, that was his compensation, wasn't it?
And if Loki just happened to drop by Earth to deliver the Mind Stone like a cosmic pizza boy around the same time? Even better.
As for whether SHIELD would be unhappy about it? Su Mu didn't care in the slightest. He was confident they would "willingly" hand over his payment.
They weren't stupid, after all.
Coulson remained silent for a moment. He reached up, pressing a finger against his earpiece. "That is above my paygrade. I need to consult my superior."
Su Mu nodded graciously.
Coulson immediately opened a secure line to Nick Fury. After a brief, hushed exchange, Coulson looked back at Su Mu.
"If you are willing to fully integrate into our organization, we can have the military's bounty on your head completely erased."
Su Mu paused, a brilliant, mocking smile spreading across his face. He stepped into Coulson's personal space, looking down at the agent.
"Agent Coulson," Su Mu drawled, "and by extension, Director Nick Furry... do you honestly think I care about a military bounty?"
Coulson exchanged a few more words over the comms before pulling the earpiece out entirely and turning the volume to maximum. A deep, authoritative voice echoed from the tiny speaker.
"Mr. Su Mu. I acknowledge that your abilities are terrifying. You may very well be more powerful than Magneto or Professor X. However, Colonel Stryker employs a vast arsenal of brainwashed mutants. Among them are individuals capable of completely erasing the X-Gene and neutralizing mutant powers."
Nick Fury, sitting in his secure office, smirked confidently. "Even someone as powerful as you would be completely helpless if your powers were suddenly turned off. Join us, and we will handle Stryker on your behalf. We will clear your name. Do we have a deal?"
Fury was certain Su Mu wouldn't refuse. No matter how god-like the White Demon was, he was still just a mutant. And a mutant stripped of their powers was nothing more than an ordinary human who could be killed by a stray bullet.
But after a few seconds of silence, a low chuckle emanated from the earpiece. The chuckle quickly swelled into full-blown, maniacal, unapologetic laughter.
"Hahahaha! Director Furry, do you genuinely think I give a damn about some power-erasing mutants?!" Su Mu's arrogant voice echoed in Fury's office. "My terms remain exactly the same. We are equal partners. If you don't like it, we can walk away right now."
After all, Su Mu wasn't actually a mutant. His abilities stemmed from cursed energy and the System. An X-Gene suppressor would be about as effective on him as a squirt gun. And even if they didn't partner up, Su Mu could just violently take the Infinity Stones later. Partnering with SHIELD was just a matter of convenience.
Nick Fury fell silent. The situation had completely derailed from his psychological profile. He hadn't expected the boy to be completely unfazed by the threat of power nullification.
Does he have a countermeasure? Fury wondered. No, impossible. He doesn't even know the specifics of the Leech protocol.
Fury exhaled slowly. He decided to play the long game. He would let Stryker spring his trap, wait until the White Demon was cornered and desperate, and then swoop in to save him. Then, Su Mu would have no choice but to fully submit to SHIELD.
"Fine," Fury said smoothly. "I agree to your terms. We are partners. Should you ever change your mind and wish to fully join our ranks, the door is always open. Though the terms of our protection may change."
Su Mu naturally understood the underlying threat in Fury's tone. He grinned.
"Don't worry, Director. That day will absolutely never come."
Let Stryker come, Su Mu thought. A simple negotiation to drop the bounty? Not a chance. I'm going to slaughter him.
...
With the preliminary agreement established, Agent Coulson bid farewell to Su Mu and Tony Stark. His mission was complete; he had successfully established ties with the Level 5 White Demon. There was no reason to linger.
After Coulson left, Tony and Pepper shared a deeply emotional reunion. Tony then led Su Mu to the penthouse of Stark Tower. He grabbed two pristine, newly manufactured Arc Reactors from a workbench and tossed them to the white-haired demon.
"Here's your payment, white-haired boy."
"Hmm?" Su Mu caught them, arching an eyebrow. He hadn't expected Stark to give him a nickname so quickly.
He didn't mind it. It was actually quite amusing. In his previous life, Tony Stark had famously sacrificed himself to save the universe. Standing face-to-face with the living, breathing Iron Man felt incredibly surreal—like a myth stepping into reality.
Su Mu casually grabbed a sleek messenger bag from a nearby couch, tossing one Arc Reactor inside. He held the other in his palm, immediately firing up his Energy Absorption to maximum capacity.
Watching Su Mu casually claim the expensive messenger bag as well, Tony rolled his eyes. "You really don't hold back, do you?"
"After all, I did save your life, didn't I, Mr. Shit-Stark?" Su Mu replied cheerfully.
Tony blinked, utterly confused by the butchered pronunciation. "Shit-Stark? What the hell is that?"
Instead of answering, Su Mu elegantly flicked his index finger. A localized pulse of Cursed Technique Lapse: Blue yanked Tony forcefully backward, depositing him perfectly into Pepper Potts's waiting arms.
Ignoring the bewildered billionaire, Su Mu completely made himself at home, sprawling out comfortably on a luxurious leather sofa in the center of the penthouse.
"You two just survived a near-death experience," Su Mu waved them off lazily. "Go be lovey-dovey somewhere else. Don't do it in front of me."
Tony was speechless. He looked up at Pepper, who was looking down at him with profound, tearful affection. Through the chaos of Obadiah's betrayal, they had finally realized what they meant to each other.
Annoyed by the overwhelming romantic tension, Su Mu used Blue again to gently but forcefully shove the couple out of the penthouse doors, locking them out.
Finally alone in the ruined penthouse, Su Mu closed his eyes and focused entirely on devouring the Arc Reactor's output.

As the Template Synchronization climbed higher, the required Energy Points scaled exponentially. Pushing past 35% took significantly more time. But with the pure, uninterrupted feed of a miniature Arc Reactor, the progress bar moved steadily.
Over ten hours later, the synchronization rate finally ticked over to 39%.
Su Mu suddenly opened his eyes. He reached up and pulled a sleek black blindfold over his eyes—an item he had picked up earlier when buying clothes to help mitigate the sensory overload of the Six Eyes.
He turned his head toward the shattered panoramic windows, his gaze piercing through miles of skyscrapers.
A manic, thrilling smile split his face. He reached up, tore the black blindfold off, and tossed it onto the couch.
"Jarvis," Su Mu called out to the AI. "Tell Tony I'm stepping out for a bit. When I get back, we have something very important to discuss. I'm sure he's already noticed the toxic little problem developing in his chest."
Without waiting for the AI to respond, Su Mu walked to the edge of the shattered penthouse window. He spread his arms wide, leaned forward, and let gravity pull him into a freefall down the side of Stark Tower.
As he neared the street, he channeled Blue, violently shifting his gravitational center to the side of a nearby building. His feet smashed into the concrete facade, spiderwebbing the masonry. Using the wall as a springboard, he launched himself into the night sky, rocketing toward a distant sector of the city where a massive fire was lighting up the horizon.
Perfect, Su Mu thought, his blood pumping with adrenaline. There's an incredibly durable target rampaging over there. He'll be the perfect punching bag to test the new skill I'm about to unlock!
