After the shopping, they returned to the Blacks' residence. Calypso's new house needed to go through a few more processes. Gringotts would send a curse-breaker to search for dangerous and cursed objects, then another wizard to install protections, and another to renovate according to Calypso's specifications.
Meanwhile, they would help Calypso register the place as a potion shop with the ministry. in addition to reconnecting her fireplace to the Floo network.
In short... there were too many things involved and in the end Calypso would only receive the key in about 3 to 5 days.
Back home, the first thing Rigel did was put Jack straight into the hands of the confused Kreacher.
The monkey looked at the elf, and the elf looked at the monkey.
"Kreacher, this is Jack, an intelligent monkey I bought. You'll take care of him from now on, teach him how to behave." After saying this, amidst Calypso's laughter, Rigel walked away as quickly as he could without appearing rude.
Kreacher glanced towards where Rigel was leaving, then back at Jack.
"Who is this ugly creature?" Jack said, trying to get out of Kreacher's hands. Kreacher couldn't understand Jack, but he sensed that the little thing was insulting him.
He didn't know why Rigel had bought this restless little monkey, but since it was his responsibility now, he would take good care of the little thing.
Kreacher released Jack, and as soon as he fell, he tried to run away, but Kreacher snapped his fingers, instantly paralyzing Jack's movement. He then floated into the air towards Kreacher, who began walking away while Jack 'followed' him.
"Master asked me to take care of the monkey, so Kreacher will teach the monkey some manners." Kreacher muttered to himself.
Jack had deep doubts. What on earth had he just heard? Good manners? What's that? Food?
The next moment, Jack discovered what torture was.
Kreacher had a lot of free time, he used magic for cleaning and cooking, so he could focus on the project of 'taming the monkey'.
Jack was taught by Kreacher not to throw things, not to climb on the table, not to steal food, not to get messy, and to eat politely...
Jack, of course, completely ignored Kreacher at first, but Kreacher would always catch him whenever he tried to escape, forcing him to sit in a corner, unable to move, it was torture for the hyperactive monkey!
Jack tried everything, running away, fighting, throwing poop.
Nothing worked!
Kreacher took Rigel's orders completely seriously, he would educate the monkey!
Rigel saw the scene as he passed through the room, a sinister laugh escaped his lips, he had indeed found the right professor.
Calypso rolled her eyes at Rigel, she didn't mind letting Jack play around, actually, she thought that was cute, but since Rigel wanted to discipline Jack, so be it.
In the following days, Rigel and Calypso focused entirely on studying magic. Calypso progressed rapidly, even dedicating some of her time to potions and studying magical creatures.
Rigel was filled with envy, but he couldn't do anything.
That night, he let the coffin appear, much to Salazar's delight. He and Calypso slept together, he only did this so Calypso could use the coffin's power to learn how to apparate.
He was doing the same thing himself.
Although Calypso had a license to apparate, without having learned how, she was actually a layperson.
However, while Rigel lost limbs several times a night, Calypso only took 3 nights to learn, she didn't just learn it, she managed that on the very first day, she even reached the point of Apparating multiple times in rapid succession, so quickly that it would have left many Aurors bewildered.
Had it not been for the heightened senses granted by his Triton's King physique, even Rigel would have lost track of her.
Rigel nearly banged his head against the wall in anger when Calypso began apparating all over the house.
Rigel clenched his fists and tried even harder, but unfortunately this was counterproductive the following night. It was only when he calmed down that he finally managed to learn, after a week.
By this time, Calypso's house was ready and they had also received a message from Ollivander, so they were ready to make a journey, first to Diagon Alley to retrieve the wand, then to the house.
During the week, Calypso had already managed to obtain several ingredients from Ollivanders' suppliers, unfortunately, the suppliers she knew were very far away, and it would take the Owl too long to deliver a message, so she left it for later.
Rigel had already gathered several of the materials needed for the two potions as well, unfortunately, many more were still missing.
Unicorn blood is illegal to sell, not to mention that finding a version the unicorn gave willingly, rather than one that was taken, is almost impossible, Rigel would have to speak to the unicorns of the Forbidden Forest.
Qilins are on the verge of extinction, and obtaining their scales is becoming even more difficult, perhaps he could strike a deal with Newt, he could show him the bees and moths he had brought in exchange, Newt likely had scales left over from when the Qilins were growing.
Even so, this is merely a stopgap measure, he needs to find a way to obtain a Qilin.
Phoenix tears? Rare, but with enough money, it's possible to buy them. Unfortunately, they haven't found buyers yet. Phoenix ashes are also incredibly rare, but more so because it's very difficult to see a phoenix undergoing rebirth. Phoenixes rarely stay close to others at this point, unless they trust those people very much.
Rigel reminded him that Dumbledore's phoenix would catch fire in the second year, and he would have to wait until then if he couldn't find it elsewhere.
This also meant staying on Dumbledore's good side, and staying on Dumbledore's good side meant randomly putting yourself in danger.
Rigel's lips trembled, clearly parted, but he could only let things play out for now.
Mermaid tears? Those weren't very rare, but they didn't buy them, he knew there were mermaids in the Black Lake, he could ask them directly.
Furthermore, the other missing ingredients were either difficult to obtain or prohibited, he would need his time to find them.
There was no great urgency for either potion, so Rigel remained calm.
As soon as they were ready to leave, Jack looked around down the hallway, approaching quickly, not jumping over the furniture, but running as fast as his little legs would allow, he looked at Rigel and clasped his hands together, clearly pleading.
"Master, please, I've learned my lesson, please take that ugly thing away from me!" he pleaded.
Both Rigel and Calypso understood, making Calypso laugh openly while Rigel hid a smile at the corner of his mouth.
"Seriously?" Rigel feigned doubt.
"Yes! Master! I swear! I won't mess anything up anymore! Please! Get me away from him!" Jack shouted, especially when he saw the house-elf approaching out of the corner of his eye.
He almost jumped at Rigel in fear, but he knew that if he did, Kreacher would trap him in mid-air and he would be forced to stay stuck in the corner again!
He seemed extremely anxious.
"Come on, Rigel, let's trust him this time." Calypso pleaded for Jack, clearly having a soft spot for animals.
Rigel looked at her, then at Jack with narrowed eyes and said, "Just one little prank, and I'll leave you with Kreacher all year."
Jack cried, literally, nobody knew how much that monkey had suffered during those days!
Rigel shook his head, letting out a soft snort, raised his arm to him, and Jack needed no better invitation, jumping onto Rigel's arm and hiding behind his head, looking at Kreacher with a mixture of mockery and fear.
Kreacher narrowed his eyes at the monkey, clearly unconvinced.
"Master, I think the monkey still hasn't learned enough from Kreacher." Kreacher said.
"No! I learned! I learned!" Jack shouted excitedly, shaking his head rapidly. He'd rather die than be tormented by Kreacher again!
Rigel shook his head and spoke to Kreacher. "You can prepare to move, when we arrive at the new house, we'll call you."
Rigel prepared to leave, but then remembered something and spoke quickly. "Also, don't bring her portrait!"
Kreacher's lips trembled, he frowned, his wrinkled face clearly unhappy, but seeing Rigel's narrowed eyes, he could only nod.
What a shame, at least the lady could return to the original wall, although Kreacher will also be moving, he would come back whenever he could to keep his lady company.
